さきほどからBBCなどでバグダッド市内のチグリス川の川辺に群集が集まる映像が流されている。
　
アルジャジーラによると、米軍機の兵士がチグリス川にパラシュート降下したのを目撃した者がいたとのこと。

真偽のほどはまだ確かではないが、大規模な捜索が行われているのは確か。野次馬のような人々が大挙して押しかけている。

Baghdad search for 'downed pilots'

Soldiers fired into the River Tigris
A search is under way along the River Tigris in central Baghdad after unconfirmed reports that two coalition pilots have parachuted over the capital following an air raid.

A Sky correspondent at the scene says he has been told by Iraqi officials that one pilot has been captured. He said the official said the pilot was American.

American sources have denied that any plane has been brought down over Baghdad.

Live television pictures showed speedboats searching the river and soldiers on the bank shooting volleys of rifle-fire into the water.

Crowds rushed to the al-Tahrir bridge, one of the main bridges, after witnesses said someone had been seen parachuting into the river.

Reports say hundreds of civilians tried to join the search.

Baghdad stretches along both banks of the Tigris, with 11 bridges connecting the two halves of the city.
