モスルで米兵２人死亡　首都でイラク人７人負傷
　【バグダッド９日共同】ＡＰ通信によると、イラク北部モスルで８日、連合軍の基地に対して迫撃弾攻撃があり、米兵１人が死亡した。また別の米兵１人もモスル地区で電気関係の事故のために死亡した。
　一方、首都バグダッド市内では同日、駐留米軍の車列付近で爆弾が爆発し、釈放されるために車に乗っていたイラク人７人が負傷した。
　米兵らが爆弾を仕掛けた集団を追跡し、１人を殺害、別の１人を拘束した。米軍を狙って爆弾を仕掛けたものの、拘束されたイラク人らが乗っていたことを知らなかったとみられる。
　米軍の車列はバグダッドの西方約１００キロの中部ラマディとバグダッドの間でイラク人らを運んでいた。

A Look at U.S. Military Deaths in Iraq

As of Friday, May 7, 763 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq last year, according to the Department of Defense. Of those, 556 died as a result of hostile action and 207 died of non-hostile causes. The department did not give an update on Saturday.

The British military has reported 58 deaths; Italy, 17; Spain, eight; Bulgaria, six; Ukraine, four; Poland, three; Thailand, two; Denmark, El Salvador and Estonia have reported one each.

Since May 1, 2003, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 625 U.S. soldiers have died - 447 as a result of hostile action and 178 of non-hostile causes, according to the military's numbers as of Friday.

- A soldier from the 2nd Infantry Division's Stryker Brigade was killed Saturday in a mortar attack on a coalition base in Mosul.

- A U.S. soldier from the Army's Stryker Brigade was killed Saturday in an accident in Mosul.

The latest identifications reported by the military:

- Army Spc. James Holmes, 29, East Grand Forks, Minn.; died Saturday of injuries suffered while on patrol earlier in the week; assigned the 141st Engineer Combat Battalion, Company C, North Dakota National Guard, Bismarck, N.D.
