When a local youth tried to help one of the stricken families, a helicopter opened strafed him with its machine gun, tearing his body apart.

As of the time of reporting the local Civil Defense forces had been unable to rescue victims due to intense and indiscriminate savage gunfire from the Americans. Four youths who got out from under the bombardment observed that the residents in the bombed houses were families and young people who remained behind after other family members had evacuated. The Resistance bombardment began with mortar rounds. This was followed by three powerful Grad rockets.
