Al-Fallujah.

Resistance Communiqu: US falls back on all fronts, large quantity of American weapons and equipment captured.

In a dispatch posted at 1:36am Friday morning Mecca time, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in al-Fallujah reported that the Consultative Council of the Mujahideen of al-Fallujah had issued a communiqu at 11:30pm Thursday night local time. The communiqu said:

“The Consultative Council of the Mujahideen of al-Fallujah announces that the US forces have withdrawn along all the four axes along which they were attacking the south of al-Fallujah ミ from the north, east, west, and south. This occurred after the defeat of the assault begun by the American forces at about 2pm Thursday, which lasted until about 11pm.”

The communiqu stated: “By the grace of God the Exalted, that attack was repulsed and significant losses were inflicted on the American forces which will be detailed tomorrow. According to preliminary estimates six of our fighters were martyred, one in a guerrilla operation that he carried out. Two rocket launchers belonging to our men were destroyed. US forces also destroyed 17 houses of citizens in various places in the an-Nazal neighborhood and the ash-Shuhada’ neighborhood.”

The communiqu continued, “As to American losses, 32 large-type US Abrams tanks were destroyed, 12 Bradley armored vehicles were destroyed. More than 43 other American vehicles were destroyed including Humvees and personnel carriers. One US tank in operational condition was seized by the Resistance, as were 91 light and medium machine guns. These were taken from Americans who were killed after the main force of the US troops abandoned them to their fate. Military glasses, compasses, armor, knives, spears, hand grenades, and tear gas were seized from the Americans as well. Tomorrow morning the extent of casualties in the American ranks will be disclosed.”

The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that eyewitnesses reported that US forces had withdrawn towards the north after mortar shells of 60mm, 82mm, and 120mm caliber fired by the city’s Resistance forces drove them back. The Resistance forces used these weapons to strike the rear ranks of the American occupation troops who were hanging back, driving the US forces into an improvised flight.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent wrote that Iraqi Resistance fighters advanced after the Americans fell back towards the east and took control of a position above that which they had earlier held. The Resistance fighters are now securely concentrated in this position.

Fierce battle rages Thursday afternoon and into the night. Intense American pressure on the city, but Resistance forces prevent any US advance.

In a dispatch posted at 10:10pm Mecca time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported remarks made to their correspondent in al-Fallujah by a Resistance commander by the name of Abu Nur at about 9pm local time Thursday night.

Abu Nur told Mafkarat al-Islam that fighting raged from 2:55pm local time until 9pm, but that in that whole time, the Americans had not been able to advance as much as one meter into the city.

Abu Nur said that the US offensive was being mounted along four axes: al-Mata‘im Restaurants Street to the north of the an-Nazal neighborhood; as-Sadd street in the east; in the west from the al-Jubayl area, and generally along a wide front from the south of the city.

The Resistance has been waging grueling battles with the US invaders who have been using weapons from the air and on the ground. They have been pounding the city savagely from the air, and at the same time are using mortars and tank cannon to bombard al-Fallujah from the land. There is hand-to-hand combat on all the fronts and everywhere.

Abu Nur said that the Resistance is holding firm on all fronts so far, thanks be to God. He explained that the Resistance has prepared very well for this battle, but nevertheless he issued an appeal to all Muslims throughout the world, saying: “we remember our brothers and sisters around the world time after time, so ask them please not to forget their brothers in your righteous prayers.”

As to losses in the day’s fighting, Abu Nur said that so far not one Resistance fighter has been killed, but nine have been wounded. Before the US attack, the Resistance was able to destroy three US tanks along with their crews. That happened when a Resistance detachment penetrated into the ranks of the enemy. He said that these tanks are different from those in Wednesday’s American assault. These are giant tanks and missiles from launchers don’t have any effect on them. Only the C5K and SPG9 can damage them.

Asked about US losses, Abu Nur replied that in the west, the Resistance destroyed 20 American tanks. As to the southern front, Abu Nur said, “I don’t know anything about that, other than that there are thick black clouds of smoke mixed with flames that are visible in many places on that front.

The eastern front of the city is the one where the Americans took their heaviest losses, Abu Nur reported. The US aggressor troops were able to break through the minefields. They suffered more than 45 dead foot soldiers alone there, to say nothing of those killed inside vehicles.

Abu Nur added, “the temperature is cold now. Even our men can’t stay in one place for more than a minute. They have to move and run around. But in some areas the intensity of the fighting is so high that it’s very hot as a result of the gunfire and the flames from burning hulks of American vehicles.

Abu Nur concluded the interview with a criticism of Mafkarat al-Islam. He told the correspondent, “I have a big complaint against you. Other than God there is nobody taking down our news except you. If we could find an opportunity to get onto the internet, we wouldn’t get on except through your site. But you didn’t report one important fact about yesterday Wednesday. That is that the Americans asked for a truce from us. That is a point that is important to record, because it raises the spirits of the members of the Resistance.”

In answer to this criticism, Mafkarat al-Islam editors commented that “because the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent is not able to get on the internet, he was not able to tell Abu Nur that the website did report that fact yesterday, Wednesday. It appears that Abu Nur did not see that report, though he was aware of others.”

Massive US offensive on al-Fallujah first reported.

In a dispatch posted at 3:26pm Mecca time Thursday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at that moment a fearsome battle was under way in the south of al-Fallujah where the center of the Iraqi Resistance in the city is located. Shaykh Abu As‘ad ad-Dulaymi, official spokesman for the city’s Resistance, told Mafkarat al-Islam that more than 600 US tanks and armored vehicles were involved in the massive battle.

He said that the invader troops prepared for the battle on Wednesday when they brought in 400 tanks from the east and brought them together to the north of the city. These are today taking part in the battle.

Abu As‘ad ad-Dulaymi said that the US forces had attacked the Resistance fighters in the city from all sides in what is known as a “compelete encirclement.” The Shaykh wanted Mafkarat al-Islam to ask all Muslims to remember the people of the city in their prayers as they go through the most serious battles yet seen.

US attacks Palestinian social, medical centers, staging mass arrests in Baghdad. Claims to find “big terrorists” among kindergarten staff.

A spokesman for Palestinians resident in Iraq has reported that on Monday, 6 December 2004, US occupation forces massed a large force of tanks, armored vehicles, and infantry, all supported by helicopters, to encircle the Hayfa Sports Club, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, and the residential area where many Palestinians live in the Baladiyat section of eastern Baghdad.

American troops kept the area surrounded as they savagely raided and ransacked the civil facilities inside their cordon, terrorizing local residents and staff from the afternoon until midnight. Members of the staff of the Hayfa Sports Club and other individuals were arrested when the American troops stormed into their homes.

The American troops destroyed the contents of the offices of the Palestine Red Crescent and the Hayfa Sports Club, including furniture and other appliances. They confiscated more than 50 computers and American tanks knocked down the Sports Club’s walls on all four sides of the building, having ransacked the offices and halls of the club, as well as the doctors’ clinic in the Red Crescent building and the Hayfa Center for Computer Instruction.

The American troops destroyed everything that came in their path. They destroyed the library in the Club that contained thousands of Palestinian books. They attacked the Association for the Woman and Child which offers assistance to widows, elderly, and divorced women, and children. They wrecked and destroyed the nursery for care of Palestinian infants. The Tatars of the modern age did not spare even the Children’s Home.

The US forces wrecked the Palestine Information Center, that specializes in studies of the Palestinian refugees in Iraq, collecting statistics on the Palestinian community and following up on their living conditions and civil rights ミ places to live, education, visas, health, etc.).

After the fall of Baghdad in 2003 and the collapse and chaos that ensued throughout the country when all the government agencies and services ceased functioning, the Palestinian National Board in Iraq, which derives its authority from the Palestine Liberation Organization, took up the task of looking after the affairs of Palestinian communities in Iraq. This body took on the job of trying to provide help on the humanitarian, social service, and medical level. It found shelter for Palestinians forcibly driven out of their homes in the course of the chaos, intensified by the anti-Arab and anti-Muslim sentiments stirred up by some elements who came in with the invading armies.

The spokesman for Palestinians in Iraq said, “we see no excuse for these American attacks on our Palestinian people and their social organizations and humanitarian and welfare agencies in Baghdad. This can be seen only as an extension of “Israeli” aggression against the Palestinian people inside their homeland. The only explanation we can find for these barbaric attacks is that the occupation forces have been loosing miserably in their battles with the Iraqi people and their heroic Resistance, and they are now looking for easy imaginary “victories” in the form of “battles” against the offices providing civil, social, and humanitarian services to the Palestinian refugee population ミ services that are provided, by the way, in full accordance with Iraqi law and with the agreement of the relevant governmental authorities.

One indication of the theatrical nature of these savage raids was the announcement by an American military spokesman afterwards that they had arrested a large number of dangerous “terrorists” from other Arab countries, in the east of Baghdad. The local press at the service of the occupation regime echoed the empty American claims.

One day after their barbarous attacks the Americans came back to the area claiming that they had nothing against the Palestinians but only sought to arrest “terrorists.” Our people were perfectly aware that the men arrested were decent people whose specialty was providing services to the Palestinian community in the al-Baladiyat area and elsewhere. Local people ridiculed the US claims, saying that they came and found “big terrorists in a kindergarten.” Therefore when the Americans offered food aid and other gifts, the Palestinian community members defiantly rejected such blandishments and in front of the American troops set fire to their “presents.”

In the name of our Palestinian people in general and the Palestinians who have lived in Iraq since the disaster of the Zionist occupation of their homeland in 1948 ミ which was caused by the same countries that are occupying Iraq today ミ Britain and America ミ we demand the immediate and unconditional release of all the prisoners.

The spokesman for Palestinians resident in Iraq concluded: We declare that our people, who were welcomed by the generous people of Iraq and shared weal and woe with them for 60 years, call on humanitarian organizations and people of good will inside and outside Iraq and on international organizations and the Arab League to work to secure the release of the prisoners, and to stop America’s terror against our Palestinian people and their civil institutions in Iraq and to work to remove the American terror that is still keeping all our institutions closed and that instills fear among peaceful people day and night with its manhunts, raids, and arrests.

A Palestinian observer in Baghdad offered his account of the same events and some information on their background as follows: “After the war, some American officers, who seemed to be trained in public relations, succeeded in establishing good relations with the local residents in the Baladiyat quarter of Baghdad where Palestinians are the main residents. The Palestinian community operates a sports club, a kindergarten, a society for Palestinian women and a society for handicapped children. The American officers began to offer some services to the residents. These were appreciated, especially after the chaos that the Iraqi capital underwent after the war. Among those officers were a Captain Gregson, Major Kefri?, Major Benthor?, and others. But then suddenly after the arrival of another officer named Gabreal, tension overwhelmed the place. The locals believe he is an “Israeli,” because he speaks Arabic with a Palestinian accent the way that “Israeli” settlers on the West Bank speak. It appears that they were right.”

The observer said, “the attack, which continued from 4pm until midnight, created a state of horror among the men, women, and children. The next day the First Cavalry Division headed by Colonel Robert issued a statement, saying it had arrested what it described as ‘some big terrorists.’ Local residents commented ironically that the Americans had ‘found big terrorists in a kindergarten.’ The observer concluded, “we demand that all organizations concerned investigate this incident. Apart from reaching the truth, the people are also seeking an answer regarding the identity of the officer whose arrival seemed associated with the massive and savage raids on the Palestinian residential quarter in Baghdad.”
