Al-Fallujah.

US admits death of one Marine in al-Anbar Province.

US forces admitted that one American Marine was killed on Tuesday in a Resistance attack in al-Anbar Province. As usual, the Americans, in addition to hiding the real casualty statistics, also revealed none of the details surrounding the death even of this one Marine.

Another US crime in al-Fallujah: American troops destroy 40 houses of local residents after deadly attacks on US troops.

In a new crime against the civilian population of al-Fallujah, US troops ordered the destruction of 40 local homes near the al-Aqsa Mosque in the al-Mu‘allimin neighborhood in the US-occupied northern part of the city on Monday night. Eyewitnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Americans took the action after five American soldiers had been killed by Resistance sharpshooters in the area, destroying two US Humvees as well. American troops then launched house-to-house raids in the area but found nothing. Then about a quarter of an hour later, the Resistance fired four rocket-propelled grenades at a US armored vehicle, setting it totally ablaze and provoking the Americans to use bulldozers and other giant vehicles to destroy the 40 houses neighboring the mosque on ath-Tharthar Street.

Former director of Election Commission of al-Anbar tells Mafkarat al-Islam why he resigned together with some 700 other commission members and employees.

The Director of the Supreme Election Commission in al-Anbar Province, who resigned along with 12 other members and 500 employees of the commission spoke to Mafkarat al-Islam about the reasons for the mass resignation, just shortly before they took office.

Sa‘d ‘Abdallah al-Bari said that “the elections are an excuse for storming into cities, hurting their people and terrorizing their women. As for me, I don’t want to be a part of this game.”

Asked whether he left the post as a result of receiving threats from the Resistance, or because of what he called the “game” of the elections, al-Bari said, “what impelled me was my sense of honor as an Iraqi. And who are the Resistance? We are all the Resistance to the occupation, whether we resist with our bodies, or our funds, or our pens. But the main reason I resigned was because it was a justification for strikes on Iraqi cities.”

Al-Bari thought that it was unlikely that elections would be held at all. If they were held, he said, they would stand as “a joke in history,” since they were being rejected by a large part of the Iraqi people, in particular by the people of al-Anbar, which is the fourth province to announce that it had given up the idea of elections.

On Monday a gathering of the people of al-Anbar ミ tribal leaders, religious scholars, university professors, and medical doctors ミ signed a declaration announcing that they were totally boycotting the elections. They called for expelling any committee that might be sent in to organize an election any place in Iraq.

Al-Qa’im.

Resistance hits US troops with mortar rounds Tuesday evening.

Iraqi Resistance forces attacked US troops in the Customs area of the city of al-Qa’im on the Syrian border, firing five 82mm mortar rounds at the Americans at 5:30pm Tuesday evening. The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in the city reported that the US troops responded by firing ten missiles into the area where the Resistance mortar rounds were launched.

Resistance fires two rockets and destroys six US helicopters inside American base near Syrian border on Monday.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired two Grad rockets into the US base known as Base 22, which lies east of the city of al-Qa’im, 20km from the Syrian border, in an attack on Monday. The Resistance specifically targeted the helicopter hangars inside the American base, according to eyewitnesses who spoke to Mafkarat al-Islam. It appeared that the Resistance fighters were well aware of the layout within the base, and particularly of the location of the helicopters because their rockets struck their targets with precision, destroying six American helicopters.

The US Base 22 was set up in a railroad loading station and it represents the main supply point for US forces in the city of al-Qa’im.

The editors of Mafkarat al-Islam comment that they received the report of the strike on the US base in al-Qa’im on Monday, but held the report back until they could independently verify the damage inflicted on the US facility. On Tuesday, Mafkarat al-Islam received confirmation from a source working inside the US base that indeed six US helicopters had been totally destroyed in the rocket attack. The source was unable to say what kind of helicopters they were, however, because they were completely smashed and burned.

Baghdad.

Puppet governor of Baghdad assassinated.

Sources in the puppet police and medical sources reported Tuesday morning that the puppet governor of Baghdad, ‘Ali al-Haydari, was assassinated by the Iraqi Resistance.

Eyewitnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam in Baghdad that the attack took place between the al-Mansur neighborhood and al-Ghazaliyhah on Hayy al-Jami‘ah Street University Neighborhood Street at exactly 8:30am Tuesday morning. The witnessed described how a detachment of about 20 Iraqi Resistance fighters armed with BKC machine guns and lighter automatic weapons attacked the motorcade of the puppet governor, killing him and three of his aides, one of them an officer of undetermined rank.

The witnesses said that puppet “rapid deployment forces” clashed with the masked Resistance fighters minutes after the attack. Thirteen of the puppet rapid deployment police were killed, the witnesses said, but the Resistance fighters were able to get away with no losses.

The Resistance attack also destroyed two Land Cruisers and the late-model BMW car in which the governor was riding.

Observers said that the precision with which the Resistance chose the time and place and the size of their attacking force indicated that they had definite knowledge regarding the governor’s motorcade. The operation was obviously well-planned and was carried out very quickly and the Resistance attackers were able to get away quickly as well.

Initial major media reports provided few details as the occupation struggled to put together an official version. It was remembered, however, that al-Haydari had survived a previous assassination attempt in September 2004, in which two of his bodyguards were killed. Al-Haydari is the highest-ranking puppet official assassinated by the Resistance in Iraq since the death of ‘Izz ad-Din Salim, head of the puppet so-called “Iraqi governing council” in 2003.

Iraqi Resistance forces carried out a surprise attack on a base of the puppet “national guard” in the Baghdad district of al-Qadisiyah at 9:15am Tuesday, according to eyewitnesses who spoke to Mafkarat al-Islam. After bursting through the front gate, the tank truck blew up, killing 13 puppet guards and wounding 45 more.
