ロイター通信によりますと、１９日火曜、バグダッドにあるオーストラリア大使館、アラビーヤ病院，軍事施設、さらにバグダッド国際空港の４箇所の付近で爆弾が仕掛けられた自動車が爆発し、これにより、イラク人２６名が死亡、他少なくとも、４０名が負傷しました。

A car bomber has launched an attack close to the Australian embassy in central Baghdad this morning, killing at least one Iraqi and wounding seven others.

A spokeswoman of Australia's Foreign Affairs Department said in Canberra that there were no Australian casualties in the attack.

"All embassy and ADF (Australian Defense Force) staff have been accounted for and no Australian personnel have been injured," she said.

Shortly afterwards, a second car bomber attacked the Allawi police headquarters building in the capital, causing several casualties.

An Interior Ministry official said six people died in the second bomb attack.

Fearing attacks on "election" day, the US-backed Allawi government announced Tuesday that it will close international borders between Jan. 29 and Jan. 31 and extend curfews and restrict movement inside "free" Iraq.
