Hasibah.

Powerful Resistance bomb targets US supply convoy in western Iraq.

A powerful Iraqi Resistance bomb shook the area of al-Gharabah west of the town of Hasibah, 460km west of Baghdad early Thursday morning. A puppet police captain told Mafkarat al-Islam that a high explosive bomb went off at 4am by a US column made up of seven trucks loaded with provisions and explosive munitions that was on its way to the US ‘Ayn al-Asad base.

The source said that the blast destroyed one US truck, the first in the column, and disabled a second. Four US troops were killed as were two Nepalese drivers. The first truck, loaded with explosives, blew up powerfully, damaging the truck that was behind it in the column. The wrecked first truck continued to burn for three hours as it was transformed into ashes. US troops were unable to recover the remains of two of their soldiers and the Nepalese driver who were in the truck.

The Resistance organization Squadrons of the Promise of Truth claimed credit for a bombing operation in Hasibah Thursday morning, the fourth such in the current week.

Hadithah.

Resistance car bomb blasts US troop column near Haditha Thursday afternoon.

An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded in the village of al-Haqlaniyah, north of the western Iraqi city of Hadithah, at 2pm Thursday, as a US military column was passing. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported that the explosion destroyed two Humvees and killed nine US troops and wounded three more.

The correspondent reported eyewitnesses as saying that a martyrdom fighter in a white car raced straight at the US column at very high speed and blasted into its side. Witnesses said that the Americans opened intense fire at the attack car as it sped towards them, but the driver managed to carry on, detonating himself by the US forces.

Baghdad.

Resistance attacks Zionist Mossad office in downtown Baghdad.

Iraqi Resistance forces attacked an office set up under an assumed name that was in fact the headquarters of the Zionist secret police Mossad near the al-Hamra’ Hotel in the al-Jadiriyah area of downtown Baghdad on Thursday. Informed sources told Mafkarat al-Islam’s correspondent that four Zionists, three Iraqi collaborators with the Mossad, and a man named ‘Wardan’ who was the office director, were killed in the attack.

The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Mossad office was opened in December 2004 under the name “Ikal” ostensibly a recruiting and employment agency. In reality, the office was run by a number of Zionist Mossad officers and a group of Iraqi collaborators. It was in direct contact with the office of the Zionist prime minister Ariel Sharon.

According to information obtained by the correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam, the office had so far provided departures outside the country for more than 450 Iraqi scientists, including physicians, nuclear engineers, and academics. The intellectuals were sent to countries like Greece, Sweden and the United States.

In addition, the office published a magazine called al-Hayat “Life” and another called at-Tamarrud “Rebellion” directed at Iraqi women and encouraging them to debauchery and rebelliousness. The magazine al-Hayat published fabricated stories claiming to report on Iraqi women rebelling against their social condition.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent wrote that an issue of the magazine, that was distributed to political parties and foreign organizations so that they could take it out to the Iraqi countryside.

Resistance attack targets Ukrainian column south of Baghdad.

Iraqi Resistance forces mounted a missile attack at a Ukrainian military column in the village of Juwaymisiyah, south of as-Suwayrah at 1pm Thursday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. The correspondent quoted local eyewitnesses as saying that Resistance fighters fired three shoulder-carried self-propelled bazooka shells at the Ukrainian colum, setting one Dan vehicle ablaze and disabling a second. The sources added that American troops showed up on the scene and closed off the area, but were unable to find the attackers. US helicopters evacuated the dead and wounded Ukrainians. The local witnesses said they saw at least five dead Ukrainian troops.

Resistance car bombing in Baghdad Thursday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded in downtown Baghdad, killing at least two persons and wounding four others, the Iraqi puppet police told Reuters Thursday morning. Columns of black smoke rose over the scene of the attack and ambulances rushed to the scene.

Puppet regime to close Iraqi borders from 17 to 22 February.

The US-installed puppet regime in occupied Iraq announced on Thursday that it had ordered all of Iraq’s borders closed during the period from 17 through 22 February. Reuters reported that the regime offered no explanation for the order. It is thought, however, that that period will coincide with the announcement of the results of the sham “election” staged by the Americans on 30 January. Meanwhile Agence France Presse (AFP) quoted puppet regime spokesman Tha’ir an-Naqib as saying that the borders were to be closed for the Shi‘i holidays of ‘Ashura’. The spokesman said that large numbers of Shi‘i pilgrims from Iran usually flock to Shi‘i shrines in southern Iraq during that period and the regime feared it would be difficult to ensure security.

Resistance battles puppet police near Salman Bak.

At least 10 puppet policemen were killed in a battle with the Iraqi Resistance that raged south of Baghdad on Thursday, puppet police sources confirmed. Reuters reported that the fighting raged for several hours near the town of Salman Bak, 65km southeast of Baghdad. The puppet police sources said earlier in the day that at least 65 puppet policemen had been wounded in the battle. The fighting was so intense that puppet police reinforcements were unable to reach the wounded or evacuate the bodies of dead puppet policemen, which were left lying on the ground.

Irbil.

Resistance sharp shooter kills south Korean occupation soldier in northern Iraqi city of Irbil.

An Iraqi Resistance sharpshooter atop the roof of a shop overlooking Dahuk Street in downtown Irbil shot and killed a south Korean soldier who was standing in the street at 1pm Thursday afternoon. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that Kurdish chauvinist collaborationist Peshmergah gunmen and south Korean troops searched the area but found nothing other than a rope dangling from the roof and leading to a parallel street to that on which the Korean soldier died.

An-Najaf.

Resistance bomb kills four US troops in an-Najaf.

Iraqi Resistance forces detonated a bomb near a US patrol in the area of the Dar as-Salam Cemetery in an-Najaf, destroying a Humvee and killing four US troops and wounding a fifth. The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that he saw the partially burned bodies of the dead Americans with his own eyes. In a report posted at 7:35pm Mecca time Thursday night, the correspondent wrote that Iraqi puppet police were at that time sealing off the area of the attack.

Al-Basrah.

Resistance bomb kills four British troops in al-Basrah Thursday morning.

A powerful Iraqi Resistance roadside bomb exploded on the main thoroughfare leading to the al-‘Ashshar area of the southern Iraqi city of al-Basrah as a British column of four armored vehicles was passing. Eyewitnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the blast destroyed one armored vehicle and disabled a second. Four British soldiers and one collaborator translator were killed instantly.

British forces then sealed off the area, preventing photographers from approaching. The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam received confirmation of the details of the attack from a member of the Iraqi puppet police who said “the blast occurred at 10am Thursday, local time, and killed four British soldiers and one Egyptian translator.”
