Al-Anbar Province.

Ar-Ramadi.

Resistance car bomb kills nine US troops. Americans arrest 7-year old boy among the “suspects.”

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column in the village of al-Bu Faraj north of ar-Ramadi and west of Baghdad, destroying one Zil troop transport and killing nine US soldiers and one Lebanese translator who held American citizenship and was collaborating with the occupation troops.

The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in ar-Ramadi reported witnesses who were nearby at the time the bomb went off and were wounded by pieces of flying shrapnel as saying that the Resistance planted the high-explosive bomb under a large pile of cow dung that is used as fertilizer for farm fields which was sitting by the side of the road, and which the American soldiers paid no attention to, even though they have modern technology that is supposed to detect such things.

The bomb went off by a Zil vehicle that was carrying 11 US troops on their way to the village to carry out routine raids and searches of houses - something they usually do every Wednesday. The explosion killed nine of the Americans in the vehicle and wounded the other two.

Two US helicopters landed to evacuate the bodies. In a report posted at 10:45am Mecca time Wednesday morning, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that the burned-out wrecked hulk of the vehicle was still lying in the road. US forces completely encircled the area at the time of writing. They launched a wave of raids and arrests, taking four men and one seven-year-old child into custody. The boy’s father was martyred in recent fighting in Hit, and his mother’s pleading with the Americans did not prevent their arresting him and taking him off to prison with the men.

Resistance bombards US base west of ar-Ramadi Wednesday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 5:05pm Mecca time Wednesday afternoon, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in ar-Ramadi reported that Iraqi Resistance forces a short while before had launched a mortar attack on the US base west of ar-Ramadi. The correspondent reported witnesses as saying that the Resistance fired fourteen 120mm mortar rounds that blasted into the US-occupied facility. The correspondent observed clouds of smoke rising from various places within the base as US helicopters crisscrossed the area overhead.

Al-Hadithah.

Resistance bomb blasts US column near al-Hadithah at 3pm Wednesday, killing seven US troops.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column in the ar-Rifa‘i area west of al-Hadithah in al-Anbar Province at 3pm Wednesday afternoon local time, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. The blast destroyed one Humvee and disabled a second, killing seven American troops.

The correspondent in al-Hadithah reported that a high-explosive bomb exploded by the column made up of several Humvees of various types, destroying one and disabling the vehicle immediately behind it in the column. In addition to the seven Americans killed there were others who were wounded, the correspondent noted. He said that the blast was so powerful that one of the bodies of the dead Americans was blown nearly 10 meters by the force of the explosion into a stream of brackish water. Eyewitnesses and sources in the local puppet police confirmed that fact, noting that the Americans spent nearly half an hour searching before they found that body.

Witnesses said that the wounded were able to pick themselves up and get into other vehicles in the column. American forces encircled the scene of the attack, firing tear gas grenades and noise bombs off. One US soldier opened fire on at the giant, government-owned electricity generator that supplies the city with power, as a sort of revenge on the local people for the attack. The American troops regard the local people in the area as the real backbone of the Resistance.

Hit.

Resistance bombs, undiscovered by American robots kill eight US troops southwest of Hit.

Three Iraqi Resistance bombs exploded by a US military column made up of 11 various vehicles in the al-Jam‘iyah neighborhood to the south west of Hit at 4pm local time Wednesday afternoon. The blast destroyed two Humvees and disabled a third. Eight US troops were killed and three more received “mortal” wounds, according to the local Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent.

Witnesses said that members of the Iraqi Resistance planted five bombs on the main al-Jam‘iyah road, with each bomb about 15 meters from the next. The American troops were able to discover two of the bombs and detonate them using a mechanical robot. But they failed to find three of the bombs and those then exploded when the US column passed by, first one, then the second, then the third.

The bombs struck three vehicles in the American column at nearly the same time, completely destroying two Humvees and disabling a third. Eight American troops were killed by the explosions and three more wounded.

A source in the puppet so-called “Iraqi rapid deployment unit” in al-Hadithah told Mafkarat al-Islam that 11 Americans were killed or wounded on Wednesday and two Humvees destroyed and one disabled, confirming the story above.

After the blast, US forces encircled the area of the attack. Using loudspeakers they announced that the city would be receive “corrective punishment,” the first part of which on Wednesday was the imposition of a curfew on the residents of the city from 3pm until 7am the next morning. The Americans threatened to keep the curfew in force for many long days if local residents do not turn over Resistance fighters to the invader troops. They also indicated that they would cut off electricity and water from the local people in coming days.

Ar-Rutbah.

Resistance shoots down US Chinook helicopter.

Iraqi Resistance forces opened fire and struck a US Chinook helicopter, setting its rear section ablaze and forcing it down in the al-Kubaysat area near the US base in the city of ar-Rutbah.in al-Anbar Province on the way to the Jordanian border.

The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam was unable to ascertain the nature or extent of US losses in the attack. Residents of the area who were nearby when the helicopter went down reported hearing a powerful explosion when it hit the ground.

Baghdad.

Judge in US-sponsored “case” against Saddam Hussein assassinated by Iraqi Resistance.

Iraqi Resistance fighters assassinated the judge working on the special tribunal that has been set up by the occupation regime to try Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and other officials of the Iraqi state and Baath Party for ruling an independent Iraq. Resistance fighters assassinated the judge and his son as they were coming out of their house in the al-A‘zamiyah section of northern Baghdad Tuesday evening Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in al-A‘zamiyah reported that the judge who was assassinated along with his 20-year-old son was named Muhammad Mahmud. He was the first Iraqi judge to seek that the death penalty be brought back so that it could be carried out on the Iraqi President and other leaders of the Iraqi party and state.

The correspondent reported that Resistance fighters attacked the car carrying the judge and his son, spraying it with a hail of bullets. Another detachment of Resistance fighters, meanwhile attacked a puppet police car that was supposed to be protecting the judge, leaving four puppet policemen dead along with the judge and his son.

Judge Muhammad Mahmud appeared for the first time on television when Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was brought in to the special court for a hearing.

The assassination of the judge on Tuesday was actually the fifth attempt on his life, four earlier Resistance attacks having failed to liquidate him. He had frequently appeared on television in occupied Iraq to make the claim that there is no Resistance in Iraq, but only “hired gunmen” - behavior that the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reports “made the Iraqi Resistance include him on its list of wanted persons.”

Three judges were authorized by the occupation regime to try the Iraqi President: Salim al-Chelebi, a Kurdish judge, and the one killed on Tuesday night.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column of five vehicles, including three Bradley armored vehicles, in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah at 8am Wednesday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

Resistance roadside bomb kills four US troops in ad-Durah Wednesday morning.

The correspondent wrote that the bomb went off in the Abu Dashir area of ad-Durah and destroyed one Humvee, killing four US troops and wounding another.

A member of the fire department told the correspondent that a bomb planted by the side of the road exploded by a US military column. He confirmed the casualty count among the Americans as four dead, one wounded.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent saw US vehicles evacuating the dead and raising the wreckage of the vehicle. US forces also arrested one of the journalists working for their own American-run al-Hurrah TV company because he filmed the wrecked vehicle and the bodies of the dead Americans. Usually, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent observed, such people are released after the American troops learn that the reporter works for al-Hurrah TV which is an American propaganda station based in Virginia, USA, that broadcasts to the Arab world.

Iraqi Resistance car bomb kills six puppet “national guards” in Baghdad Wednesday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded amidst a group of Iraqis applying to collaborate with the occupation by joining the puppet “army” on Wednesday, killing at least six and wounding 28 according to a puppet police source quoted by at-Tajdid al-‘Arabi.

The massive explosion shook the area at the entrance to the old al-Muthanna airport in Baghdad Wednesday morning - a facility now used by the puppet so-called “Iraqi national guard. A source told Reuters that the six dead were members of the puppet so-called “Iraqi national guard.”

Large explosion shakes “green zone” area of Baghdad early Wednesday.

Eyewitnesses reported that a large explosion shook Baghdad early Wednesday. Puppet police encircled the area of the blast, which took place near the puppet so-called “Iraqi national guard” base near the Republican Palace area known to the US invaders as the “green zone.” Reuters reported that it was not immediately clear what caused the explosion and US military sources said they had no information on the blast either.

L. Paul Bremer said returning to Iraq on “mission.”

A source in the “presidency” of the puppet “government” installed by the US occupiers in Baghdad reported that former US proconsul in Iraq L. Paul Bremer was preparing to visit the occupied country on a “mission.”

The source told the Jordanian newspaper al-Ghad that a team of 10 persons who worked with Bremer immediately after the US occupation of Iraq arrived in Baghdad two days ago for a “visit.” The paper reported that the team met with a high official in the US embassy in Baghdad and informed him of Bremer’s mission, indicating that he was expected to arrive in the occupied Iraqi capital in the coming week, but the specific day was not set.

Informed sources speculated that Bremer’s mission is to find ways to fill the vacancy in the US embassy left by the departing American ambassador John Negroponte, who has been appointed head of the American secret police agencies. It was not considered likely that Bremer himself would succeed Negroponte as ambassador, however, given Bremer’s failure as a proconsul to establish effective American control of the country.

Salah ad-Din Province.

Salah ad-Din Province without all puppet police forces after police suspend work, resign en masse.

The Iraqi puppet police in Salah ad-Din Province - which includes the cities of Samarra’, Tikrit, al-Bayji, Balad, and ad-Dulu‘iyah - announced that they were suspending their service in the police force. Many of them resigned from the force altogether.

The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported Major General Ahmad Jabr, the commander of the police in Salah ad-Din Province announced on local television on Wednesday that the entire force in the province - an estimated 8,000 men - was going on general strike.

General Jabr said the move was in protest against the US occupation forces storming of the building housing the police command, where the Americans arrested a number of policemen and officers in the force, accusing them of cooperating with the Iraqi Resistance and serving them.

The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in Samarra’ reported that the Samarra’ Police had also gone on general strike.

Meanwhile, Mafkarat al-Islam correspondents in various cities in the province report that more than 70 percent of the members of the puppet police force in al-Bayji, Balad, and ad-Dulu‘iyah handed in their weapons and left the police stations and abandoned all patrols. The correspondents write that at the present time there are no puppet police working in the province where the rule of the occupation regime is solely in the hands of the US forces.

The Americans for their part are reportedly searching for a new commander for the provincial police after General Jabr called his police strike - an action that the Americans regard as “sabotaging security.”

In their report posted at 5:10pm Wednesday afternoon, the correspondents wrote that there were unconfirmed reports saying that the commander has in fact also resigned.

Diyala Province.

Ba‘qubah.

Resistance car bomber kills nine US troops in Ba‘qubah.

An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by a US column that was stopped near the puppet regime’s “Directorate of Civil Status” department in downtown Ba‘qubah at 9am Wednesday morning. The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported sources in the puppet “national guard” as saying that an Iraqi Resistance martyrdom driver slammed a car loaded with explosives into the US column, destroying two Humvees and killing nine US troops.

An employee of the “Civil Status Directorate” in Ba‘qubah said that the car bomb was a red Opel and that it raced at “crazy speed” into the Americans, where it blew up immediately when it slammed into two Humvees, destroying them both and killing the nine Americans.

US forces hurried to the scene with helicopters, armored vehicles, and troop transports. They closed off the area completely and imposed a curfew that was still in force when the correspondent submitted his report posted at 12:05pm Mecca time Wednesday afternoon.

Ninwa Province.

Tall ‘Afar.

Iraqi Resistance rockets blast US base in Tall ‘Afar.

Iraqi Resistance forces in Tall ‘Afar, which is north of Baghdad, fired four rockets into the main US base in the city. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local witnesses as saying that the four rockets blasted into the base where the Iraqi Army formerly had an observation headquarters before the US invasion in spring 2003.

The correspondent reported that the attack send dens clouds of smoke rising into the sky over the US-occupied facility as powerful explosions shook the base at 10am Wednesday local time. Three US helicopters came in over the area where they remained for a full hour.

At-Ta’mim Province.

Kirkuk.

Sunni Arab tribes reject inclusion of Kirkuk in Kurdish mini state.

As US-inspired tensions mount between Arabs and Turkmen on one side and Kurds on the other over the fate of Kirkuk - which Kurdish chauvinists are trying to incorporate in a Kurdish mini state under US protection - the correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in Kirkuk reported that the Arab Sunni population of Kirkuk have met to reject such separatist plans.

Representatives of the Sunni Arab population of the area, who number about 550,000 according to recent statistics of the regime’s “ministry of trade” met in the area of Huwayjat al-‘Abid, the largest of the Sunni tribes there on Wednesday to discuss the situation in the city after the threats issued by Mas‘ud al-Barizani, one of the Kurdish chauvinist leaders backed by the US. Al-Barizani recently threatened to repudiate the political system in the country if Kirkuk is not incorporated into the Kurdish zone.

The Kirkuk correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that representatives of the tribes of al-‘Abid, al-Jabbur, al-Jannabiyin, ad-Dulaym, al-Karaghul, al-‘Azzawiyin, and more than seven other tribes gathered to proclaim their rejection of the inclusion of the city in the Kurdish zone, given the separatist aim of such a zone.

The statement issued by the meeting said, “the call by the two leaders of the Kurdish parties in Iraq to include Kirkuk in the Kurdistan region is nothing but the fulfillment of the Zionist desire to partition Iraq, so as to split up the country into small mini states.”

The statement said, “we, who represent the majority in this city, have determined that any attempt to split the city from the province and to partition it will result in a war that will not end except at the expense of our blood or theirs.”

The Sunni Arab meeting stated, “on the basis of reason and before it of religion, we appeal to the Kurds for a peaceful solution that would guarantee the rights that every individual desires, that is to rule according to the law of God, since all those in Kirkuk are Muslims regardless of their nationality. We remind Messrs. Jalal Talibani and Mas‘ud al-Barizani of the Divine words from the Qur’an “truly the noblest among you are the most God-fearing,” and the statement of the Prophet Muhammad, on whom be God’s peace and blessings, “The only difference between an Arab and a non-Arab is how God-fearing he is. So if they wish they may decide the matter in accordance with God’s Book, but if they refuse they will not get what pleases them or makes them happy.”

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam noted that all the tribes attending the meeting signed the statement. In addition to tribal representatives, a number of local religious scholars attended the meeting as did prominent citizens. The meeting authorized one of the religious scholars to convey the message to the Kurdish leaders and to the Iraqi “government” installed by the occupation.

Irbil Province.

Irbil.

Resistance bomb disables south Korean military vehicle.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a south Korean military column in a residential section of downtown Irbil in northern Iraq. The blast disabled one military vehicle, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. No further information was available because occupation forces had encircled the area and prevented all access.
