Sunday, 20 March 2005.

Al-Anbar Province.

Al-Hadithah.

Resistance attack destroys US tank, killing eight American troops.

Iraqi Resistance fighters opened fire on US forces on patrol in the ar-Rifa‘i neighborhood of al-Hadithah with anti-tank rockets on Sunday, destroying one US Abrams tank and killing eight American troops aboard it.

The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported witnesses as saying that four Resistance fighters attacked the US patrol with four shoulder-fired anti-tank rockets, destroying the tank and killing the eight Americans instantly. Witnesses said that the Resistance attackers left the scene safely after the attack, moving through the narrow lanes of the city where US troops could not follow their trail or catch up with them.

After the attack US troops completely closed off the area and began searches of nearby houses and shops, but found nothing pertinent.

Ar-Ramadi.

Four US troops killed in Resistance bombing in ar-Ramadi Sunday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a column of five US armored vehicles passing through the as-Sikak neighborhood in the north of ar-Ramadi at 9am Sunday morning local time. The correspondent of Mafakrat al-Islam in the city reported that the blast destroyed a Humvee and killed four US troops and wounded another seriously in the chest and abdomen.

Witnesses in the area reported that three Resistance fighters planted the bomb by the side of the road along which the US column then passed.

Hit.

Resistance pounds US base in Hit Sunday afternoon.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired seven rockets, believed to be Grad rockets, into the US ‘Ayn al-Asad base in the area of Hit at 3:15pm Sunday afternoon local time.

Residents of Hit who witnessed the attack said there was a series of explosions that followed the rocket strike and that plumes of thick smoke rose into the sky over the US-occupied facility. The US military acknowledged the attack on its own radio station that began broadcasting a program to al-Anbar Province. The American report made no mention of casualties.

The Brigades of the 1920 Revolution, the armed wing of the Patriotic Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced its responsibility for the attack in a statement distributed around mosques in Hit.

Al-Fallujah.

Three US troops reported killed by Resistance roadside bomb in al-Fallujah Sunday afternoon.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US column in the ash-Shuhada neighborhood of al-Fallujah at 5:30pm Sunday afternoon local time. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the bomb virtually totally destroyed a Humvee killed three US troops and wounded two more. An official statement by the police said that a roadside bomb on the street leading to the al-Anbiya’ Mosque was responsible for the blast that left five SU troops “killed or wounded.”

Resistance car bomb in al-Fallujah Sunday evening.

An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded in the ash-Shukr area of northern al-Fallujah at about 6pm Sunday evening. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the extent of casualties as a result of the blast was unclear.

Resistance activity in al-Fallujah on Sunday.

Six 120mm mortar rounds into the as-Su’dad school in the al-Jurayfi neighborhood of al-Fallujah but the extent of losses was unclear.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded near the al-Firdaws Mosque, killing three Iraqi puppet troops, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded in the al-‘Askari neighborhood of the city by a patrol of the puppet so-called Iraqi national guard. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that a number of guardsmen were killed or wounded.

Iraqi Resistance forces battled Iraqi puppet “national guard” troops near the as-Siddiqiyah Bridge in the al-Khalidiyah district on Sunday afternoon. The Resistance forces fired BKC rockets killing two puppet guards and wounding three more, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

Al-Habbaniyah.

Resistance bombards al-Habbaniyah base late Saturday.

Iraqi Resistance forces bombarded the US al-Habbaniyah base with six 120mm mortar rounds on Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported Sunday. US forces returned fire, shooting three mortar rounds into the al-Jazirah area of al-Khalidiyah.

During the night US helicopters landed in the ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah area, south of the city of al-Fallujah to arrest a group of persons and take them away to al-Habbaniyah base.

Baghdad.

Regional puppet police commander in Baghdad reported assassinated Saturday.

The American Associated Press reported Sunday that the Resistance assassinated Ahmad ‘Ali Kazim, regional puppet police commander in Baghdad as he was on his way to his office in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah on Saturday.

Babil Province.

Al-Yusufiyah.

Four US troops killed in two attacks in al-Yusufiyah Sunday.
An Iraqi Resistance land mine exploded under a US patrol in al-Yusufiyah at 10am Sunday morning local time. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that one Humvee was disabled and two US troops were killed and two more wounded seriously in the blast.

In a separate attack, One US soldier was shot dead by an Iraqi sharpshooter in the as-Saddah area south of al-Yusufiyah. Witnesses told the correspondent that the sharpshooter killed the American soldier as he was standing in a large US column. The sharpshooter’s bullet struck in him in the head and killed him instantly.

A source in the puppet police in Samarra’ confirmced the two attacks and added that the number of American dead in the two incidents had risen to four later in the day with the death of one of the Americans wounded by the land mine.

Ninwa Province.

Tall ‘Afar.

Resistance rocket attack blasts US base in Tall ‘Afar.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired 30 rockets and mortar rounds at various parts of the US military base north of Tall ‘Afar at 8am Sunday morning local time. The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported a captain in the puppet so-called “national guard” told a press conference in Mosul that the bombardment inflicted “losses” among the US military personnel. He said that the attack also inflicted a “large number” of losses among the Iraqi puppet forces in the base.

Witnesses in the city confirmed seeing a number of helicopters flying in and out of the base evacuating US casualties to the al-Ghazlani American base in Mosul. Ambulances belonging to the Iraqi puppet forces were also seen entering and leaving the camp, carrying the Iraqi puppet casualties to the Iraqi puppet military hospital in Mosul.

Iraqi Resistance shoots down US Cobra helicopter over Tall ‘Afar Sunday afternoon.

Iraqi Resistance forces opened fire with ground-based machine guns and shot down a US Cobra helicopter over Tall ‘Afar at 4pm Sunday afternoon. The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the helicopter crew were killed instantly. A local witness viewed the flaming wreckage of the aircraft downed in the al-Bakri neighborhood of central Tall ‘Afar.

US forces burst into the town with more than 50 tanks and armored vehicles and a number of helicopters ミ in the aftermath of fighting on Friday and Saturday that inflicted heavy losses on the invader troops. US forces withdrew from Tall ‘Afar at about 5pm Sunday afternoon, however, hauling away the wreckage of the helicopter on the back of a military truck.

Mosul.

High explosive Resistance bomb destroyes “giant” US Bradley armored vehicle.

Iraqi Resistance forces destroyed a US Bradley armored vehicle in Mosul Sunday morning, killing seven US troops aboard it. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported witnesses in the al-Islah az-Zira‘i neighborhood as saying that the Resistance planted a high-explosive bomb in the middle of a road under a sewer cover. It exploded under one of the “giant” version of the Bradley vehicles ミ as they are called in Iraq ミ destroying it completely and killing the seven American troops inside.

The correspondent, who hurried to the scene of the attack after hearing the explosion, which rocked several neighborhoods of the city, saw US forces surrounding the destroyed vehicle, that was blazing from every side and had been flipped over by the enormous force of the blast. The bodies of the seven dead Americans were strewn about on the road. The correspondent noted that the massive explosion left a crater in the middle of the road measuring about five meters (over 15 feet) in diameter.

Car bomb kills 10 puppet police in Mosul, including puppet police general.

An Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-laden Opel car into a Mosul puppet police station Sunday morning, killing more than 10 puppet police, including the chief of the station.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported, while standing in front of the blasted puppet police station, that Brigadier General Walid Kashmulah, the commander at the station, and more than 10 other puppet police personnel were killed in the attack.

The correspondent noted that puppet police General Walid Kashmulah was the cousin of Durayd Kashmulah, the governor of Mosul who received threats from the Iraqi Resistance after he launched a wave of arrests of members of the Resistance in the city.

Diyala Province.

Ba‘qubah.

Four US troops said killed in Resistance bombing in Ba‘qubah.

In a dispatch posted at 1:55pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported from Ba‘qubah that a source in the Iraqi puppet police said that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a US column in the Jalula’ district in the north of the city. The source said that the blast destroyed one American Humvee, disabled a second, and killed four US troops and wounded two more.

Witnesses told the correspondent that the blast took place 15 minutes after a rocket barrage struck one of the US military barracks west of Ba‘qubah.

Al-Musayyib.

Puppet troops claim they thwarted three Resistance car bomb attacks after puppet policeman found dead in city.

Al-Jazeera satellite TV reported that the puppet police in Babil Provinde announced that they had intercepted three Iraqi Resistance car bombs in al-Musayyib, 60km south of Baghdad and arrested two Resistance martyrdom fighters. A third martyrdom fighter blew himself and his car up without inflicting any injuries among the aggressors or their stooges, according to the puppet police statement.

Al-Jazeera satellite TV also reported that the body of a puppet policeman was found in al-Musayyib on Sunday.

Al-Mundhiriyah.

Deadly bombing hits US column despite bomb-finding devices.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a column of several US military vehicles in al-Mundhiriyah on the border with Iran at 11am on Sunday. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the blast disabled a US armored vehicle and killed five US troops and wounded three more.

Witnesses who were at the scene at the time of the attack reported that the bomb had been planted by the side of the road and that it went off taking the Americans by surprise, since they had brought mechanical devices that are supposed to detect explosives into the city following a large and costly spate of Resistance bombings. Apparently those devices had failed to find this bomb.

The correspondent reported seeing two US helicopters evacuating the dead and wounded after Marines surrounded the area.

Salah ad-Din Province.

Samarra’.

Car bomb targets US column in Samarra’.

In a dispatch posted at 1:50pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, an Iraqi Resistance car bomb had exploded by a US military patrol made up of several vehicles at a crossroads on one of the main streets in the al-Jubayriyah neighborhood in the west of Samarra’. The correspondent, who was close to the attack site at the time of reporting, indicated that the blast completely destroyed two US military vehicles, but he was not able to ascertain the exact number or nature of US casualties. Sources in the Samarra’ Fire Department confirmed to the correspondent that more than 12 US troops were killed and/or injured.

Puppet policeman reported killed in Samarra’ Sunday.

The American Associated press reported Iraqi puppet police Major Sa‘dun Ahmad as saying that that an Iraqi puppet policeman was killed Sunday when Resistance forces shot him in Samarra’.

Balad.

Resistance assassinates commander of puppet “national guard” in Salah ad-Din Province.

The Iraqi Resistance assassinated the top commander of the puppet so-called “Iraqi national guard” in Salah ad-Din Province on Saturday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. Witnesses told the correspondent that about 10 Resistance fighters attacked the motorcade in which that puppet Provincial commander was riding in the al-Ba‘th neighborhood in the town of Balad, spraying his car with a hail of bullets.

The correspondent reported that the attack left the puppet commander and several of his aides and bodyguards dead. US forces completely encircled the area and were still surrounding it on Sunday morning when the correspondent filed his report posted at 11:32am Sunday morning Mecca time.

The Army of the Partisans of the Sunnah (Prophet’s practice) issued a statement taking responsibility for the assassination.

Bayji.

Collaborator translator found dead in Bayji.

Al-Jazeera satellite TV reported that the body of a collaborator translator who worked for the US occupation troops was found dead in Bayji on Sunday.

At-Tarimiyah.

US raids mosques arrests mosque staff in at-Tarimiyah Saturday.

The Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ Scholars announced on Sunday that at 10am Saturday US forces accompanied by members of the puppet so-called “Iraqi national guard” stormed into a number of mosques in the al-‘Abayiji area of at-Tarimiyah, namely the ar-Rasul Mosque, the al-Yaqin Mosque, the al-Badawi Mosque, the al-Faruq Mosque, and the ar-Rahmah Mosque. The statement said that the invader troops broke down doors and arrested mosque care takers and guards, claiming that they would be released if people came to the puppet city council to request it, but as usual, the statement said, the Americans did not fulfill their promises.

The Board denounced the US raids, saying it was holding the US and the puppet regime wholly responsible for the mosques and the religious figures and their fates.

At-Ta’mim Province.

Kirkuk.

US admits: Resistance bomb kills one US soldier near Kirkuk Sunday.

Al-Jazeera satellite TV reported that the US military had admitted that one of its soldiers was killed and three more wounded when an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded near their patrol near Kirkuk Sunday.

Four puppet police assassinated in attacks in Kirkuk Saturday.

The American Associated Press (AP) reported that ar puppet policeman was killed in Kirkuk in the northern province of at-Ta’mim and then Resistance fighters attacked his funeral on Saturday, killing three more puppet policemen including one relative of Kurdish chauvinist collaborator leader Jalal Talibani.

Al-Basrah Province.

Al-Basrah.

Four British troops killed in Sunday morning bombing in al-Basrah.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a passing column of British soldiers on foot in the predominantly Sunni Abu al-Khasib area of al-Basrah, at 8am Sunday morning local time. The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in al-Basrah reported that the blast struck a British unit on a routine patrol in the middle of the city, killing four British troops.

Witnesses who live in the neighborhood reported that the bomb was planted under a telephone pole and that it exploded as the British patrol was passing, killing four and moderately wounding three more. This toll was confirmed in a statement by a senior officer in the puppet police in the city, who declared that more than six British troops had been killed or injured.

Resistance opens fire at US Consulate car in al-Basrah Sunday.

Iraqi Resistance fighters opened fire on a car belonging to the US consulate in al-Basrah on Sunday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported witnesses as saying that the attack took place at the al-Jaza’ir intersection in the center of al-Basrah. They said that men in the American car fired back at the source of the gunfire, but failed to hit anything.

The American consulate made no statement on the attack.

The al-Jaza’ir intersection is about one kilometer from the at-Tayran Square, the correspondent notes ミ a location dubbed “Death Square” for the numerous attacks on British targets there. Employees of the British consulate were targeted there just a few days before, leaving a number of consulate employees dead or wounded. The al-Hasan al-Basri Brigades took responsibility for that attack which came amidst a sharp rise in Resistance activity in the southern Iraqi city.

Resistance bomb targets puppet police in al-Basrah Sunday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a puppet police patrol as it passed along al-Khurah Road (a street leading to Muntazah al-Khurah) in al-Basrah at 9:30am local time Sunday morning. Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the blast destroyed a Landcruiser and killed and/or wounded all those aboard. The al-Hasan al-Basri Brigades Resistance group announced their responsibility for the attack in a communiqu published on an internet website. It promised to carry out yet more attacks.

Puppet authorities arrest Egyptian, Sudanese workers in Umm Qasr.

Puppet so-called “Iraqi national guards” arrested a number of citizens of Egypt and the Sudan working in restaurants in the al-‘Ashshar area on the Umm Qasr coast near al-Basrah on Sunday. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that the puppet guards encircled an area, closing all the streets to and from the coast of Umm Qasr ミ where there are taxis that take people to all parts of the city of al-Basrah. They then raided a coffee house and a restaurant and arrested several Arab workers. Witnesses said they were Egyptian and Sudanese but could not give the exact number of people arrested since there were so many puppet guards crowding the scene.

The correspondent noted that recently occupied Iraq has seen a wave of arrests and deportations of citizens of other Arab states ミ students, businessmen and others. The correspondent noted that the puppet guards are arresting Arab Sunni citizens but have left alone ミ and indeed provide protection for ミ thousands of Iranian (Shi‘i) immigrants who have crowded the al-Basrah area in numbers that are now obvious.
