Monday, 21 March 2005.

Al-Anbar Province.

Al-Fallujah.

US embassy staff believed killed in Resistance bombing at northern entrance to al-Fallujah.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded at the northern entrance to the city of al-Fallujah on Monday morning, destroying two Chevrolet cars that were carrying a number of American “civilians.” The Americans aboard the cars were killed.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Fallujah reported eyewitnesses as saying that three large-sized Chevrolet cars approached al-Fallujah’s northern gate where US troops and their Iraqi stooges have a check point to check Iraqis coming and going to their city. A roadside bomb exploded by the highway bridge linking the highway with the al-Fallujah Bridge at 9am Monday morning, local time. The blast completely destroyed two of the cars, killing all those inside them.

US occupation forces closed off the area completely after the blast, preventing journalists from approaching. The correspondent reported that the US forces also prevented members of the Iraqi puppet army and puppet police from approaching the corpses of the dead Americans or even the blast site as a whole. This aroused suspicions of those on the scene that the people in the targeted vehicles had bee important American officials.

The US military refused to provide any information about the blast or the persons killed in the Chevrolet cars. One Iraqi puppet soldier said that he believed the dead to have been staff members from the US embassy in Baghdad who came to al-Fallujah to supervise Monday’s planned activities whereby the Americans provide “compensation” to local citizens for houses that were destroyed by the American assault on the city from November 2004 through January 2005.

Representative of al-Fallujah gives assessment of destruction of the city caused by US offensive, says US promises to “rebuild the city” can’t be believed.

Dr. Hafiz ad-Dulaymi, the Chairman of the Committee for Compensation of the People of the City of al-Fallujah declared that the destruction inflicted on the city by the US aggression on it totaled 7,000 houses destroyed or partly destroyed in the various neighborhoods of the city.

He said that 8,400 shops, stores, factories, construction centers, construction equipment sales offices, and medical clinics were destroyed.

Sixty-five mosques were demolished ミ most of then entirely and wiped from the face of the earth, as he put it, some others suffered the loss of their minarets and the destruction of their sanctuaries.

Fifty-nine primary, middle, and secondary schools, teaching institutes, technical and trade schools, and kindergartens were destroyed.

Thirteen Iraqi government buildings were destroyed.

Two electric power stations were destroyed and the three water purification plants in the city were destroyed. Two train stations linking Iraq with neighboring countries were destroyed. Largely destroyed also was the network for the drainage of sewer and rain water.

One bridge was damaged to the point that it cannot now be used for crossing the Euphrates west of the city.

More than 100,000 domesticated animals were killed in the city as a result of the Americans’ use of poisoned gas and other chemical substances. These include sheep, cows, water buffalo, chickens and other fowl in the fields and pens around the city.

Several historical libraries were burned down that contained some of the most valuable books of Islamic sciences. There were four libraries each containing hundreds if not thousands of volumes, Dr. ad-Dulaymi said.

Relics of the ‘Abbasi period in the Middle Ages were destroyed in the area of as-Saqlawiyah north of the city. This was done in such a way that observers are lead to believe that the destruction was deliberate. These were totally demolished. On the site were the hills on which were the Palace of Abu al-‘Abbas as-Saffah.

In an interview with Mafkarat al-Islam, Dr. ad-Dulaymi called on all international bodies and news agencies to come to the city, take photographs, and assess the extent of the destruction left by the US forces in al-Fallujah.

When asked about Iraqi human losses among the civilians, ad-Dulaymi said, “That is a difficult question to answer because the number is very much open. This is particularly true after last week when the Iraqi Resistance resumed activity on a significant level in the city.”

Dr. ad-Dulaymi said that they were “working with philanthropists from Iraq and the rest of the Arab Nation to help treat the tragedy by collecting donations and other help for the people of the city, because, frankly, we are in despair about the promises of the American occupation to rebuild al-Fallujah again. The people of the city are right in not believing the promises that the American forces have made to them and to rely on themselves to build refuges out of the rubble of what is left of their demolished homes.”

Ar-Ramadi.

Resistance, US occupation forces trade barrages of mortars, rockets Sunday night.

Iraqi Resistance fighters and US forces exchanged barrages of rockets east and west of ar-Ramadi after a Resistance attack struck the main US base in that area Sunday night.
