Al-Anbar Province.

Al-Qa’im.

Iraqi Resistance arrests puppet governor of al-Qa’im together with five body guards.

In a dispatch posted at 5:32pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while before, Iraqi Resistance forces had arrested the puppet governor of al-Qa’im along with a number of his body guards.

The correspondent reported that a few days earlier, the puppet governor had asked the American occupation forces to provide their own protection for him, other than troops of the Iraqi puppet army, because of his fears that the Iraqi Resistance would seek to retaliate against him for a campaign he had launched targeting the jobs and livelihood of relatives and family members related to suspected Resistance activists, according to local residents.

Four US troops killed in Resistance bombing east of al-Qa’im Thursday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a column of three US armored vehicles and two Humvees in the city of al-Qa’im on the Syrian border at 9am Thursday morning. The blast completely destroyed one American armored vehicle and killed four US troops and wounded three more.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported the people of the al-Karabilah area as saying that the bomb was planted in the middle of an unpaved road linking the al-Karabilah area, east of al-Qa’im, with the city center. They said that the bomb exploded under a US armored vehicle, destroying it and killing four Americans and seriously wounding three more.

Rawah.

Resistance shoots down unmanned US spy plane over Rawah Thursday morning.

Iraqi Resistance forces shot down an unmanned US spy plane in the skies over the city or Rawah in al-Anbar Province at about 9am Thursday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet so-called “Iraqi national guards” as saying that Resistance fighters attacked the drone with a heavy Dmitrov machine gun as it was flying about “pursuing” the fighters in the middle of the city. The source admitted to the correspondent that the Resistance seized the wreckage of the American spy plane and that US forces were at the time of reporting still searching for it.

In his report, posted at 5:45pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, the correspondent reported that the Abu Bakr Salafi Brigades had announced their responsibility for the downing.

Baghdad.

Resistance bomb kills four American troops in al-Ghazaliyah Thursday afternoon.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded near the al-Mudallil Mosque in the al-Ghazaliyah area north of Baghdad, totally destroying a Humvee and killing four US troops and wounding two more, one of them seriously at 4:30pm Thursday afternoon.

The correspondent for Mafakrat al-Islam reported a sergeant in the Iraqi puppet forces as saying that the bomb was set off by remote control as a US patrol was passing the area. The four Americans killed were in the Humvee destroyed by the bomb, he said, and the two who were wounded were in the vehicle behind them. That second vehicle also sustained minor damage, according to the source.

Resistance barrage pounds Abu Ghurayb prison camp.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired six 120mm mortar rounds into the US occupation headquarters in the Abu Ghurayb prison camp at 8am Thursday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Abu Ghurayb residents who witnessed the attack as saying that six explosions shook the prison complex that houses a US headquarters as well as thousands of Iraqi prisoners.

Because of tight security measures imposed around the prison camp after the bombardment, the correspondent was unable to obtain any information from the Iraqi puppet police or puppet “national guardsmen” concerning the extent of American casualties. US forces prevented Iraqis who had come to visit relatives from getting in, indeed preventing anyone from approaching the prison complex.

Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ denounces fabrications published in ash-Sharq al-Awsat.

The Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ [Scholars] in Iraq denied reports circulated by pro-American media claiming that the Board was seeking ministerial posts in the next puppet “government.” The reports had claimed that the Board specifically was seeking the portfolios of defense and the interior in the next puppet government that is supposed to be created by the winners in the farcical “election” held under US auspices on 30 January 2005.

The newspaper ash-Sharq al-Awsat, published in Arabic in London on Wednesday, 30 March 2005, carried an Arabic translation of an article by Robert Worth in The New York Times in which she interviews the General Secretary of the Board. The article attributed statements to him that he did not say and then turned those into the headline of the article itself.

On Thursday the Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ in Baghdad issued a statement saying that the newspaper headlined its story saying that the Board was seeking the ministries of defense or the interior in the new puppet government, even though no such statement appeared in the text of the article.

Not only that, the Board statement went on, but ash-Sharq al-Awsat removed parts of the original article as it appeared in English ミ a violation of journalistic ethics and honesty.

The statement by the Board concluded by saying that the Board is surprised at such irresponsible behavior and denies that its General Secretary ever made any such statements. The Board promised to publish a correct translation of the entire article from the English original in The New York Times on the Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ website.

Ninwa Province.

Mosul.

Resistance martyrdom bomber strikes US checkpoint near Mosul at dawn Thursday.

Iraqi Resistance forces opened their day of fighting at dawn on Thursday with a martyrdom attack on US forces near Mosul.

An Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a US checkpoint, killing 11 US troops and wounding another four. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Qayarah, south of Mosul, reported that the car bomb blew up at a US checkpoint to the west of the town at about 6am Thursday morning. The correspondent quoted a first lieutenant in the puppet police as confirming the numbers of 11 dead and four wounded American soldiers. He added that one of the wounded was critically injured.

The correspondent saw the wreckage of several US vehicles that had been parked at the checkpoint. After the blast, American troops encircled the area and hauled away the bodies of their casualties.

Resistance bomb kills five US troops near Mosul Tuesday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a joint column of US and Iraqi puppet forces as it proceeded along the road linking the city of Tall ‘Afar with Mosul in northern Iraq at about 10:30am Thursday morning.

A member of the puppet police who refused to give his name out of fear of US repisals said that the bomb had been planted by the side of the road and that it blew up as the column was passing. He said that the blast destroyed one Humvee, killing its crew of five US troops.

Salah ad-Din Province.

Balad.

Resistance bomb kills four Americans, silences US boasts about “beating” the “insurgents”.

An Iraqi Resistance roadside bomb exploded by a US military column in Balad, southwest of Tikrit at about 1pm Thursday afternoon. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported witnesses as saying that the bombing broke a 48-hour period of complete quiet in the city. The calm period had prompted the American propaganda radio that broadcasts to local people in the city to boast that their operations had “put an end” to the Iraqi Resistance. Thursday’s midday explosion dashed any such American dreams.

Witnesses reported that the blast totally destroyed a Humvee and killed four US troops and a collaborator translator on the spot. Other American soldiers found the body of one of the dead US troops had been blown nine meters by the force of the blast, completely crushing his skull.

Sulayman Beg.

Resistance car bomb kills five puppet “national guards” early Thursday.

Five puppet so-called “Iraqi national guards” were killed when an Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded south of Kirkuk on Thursday morning. A puppet “national guard” major said that a Resistance martyrdom fighter drove the explosives-laden car into a puppet checkpoint and blew it up. Reuters reported that many puppet guards were also wounded in the attack that took place near the town of Sulayman Beg, 95km south of Kirkuk.

Dilaya Province.

Al-Mundhiriyah.

The Iraqi Resistance issued a statement in the town of al-Mundhiriyah, near the Iranian border on Thursday saying that they had executed 19 Iranian agents who had infiltrated into Iraqi territory to carry out murders and sabotage with the aim of sullying the reputation of the Iraqi Resistance and stirring up sectarian strife between the Sunni and Shi‘i communities in Iraq.

Mafkarat al-Islam received a copy of the statement which reads as follows:

“Praise be to God, the One, the Vanquishing, Who rolls the night over the day, the One who Overcomes tyrants and infidels, Who said [in the Qur’an] “They plot, but God plots and God is the best of plotters” [Qur’an, 8:30], and blessings and peace be upon His prophet Muhammad, the noblest of all His creation.

“At 2am after midnight last night a number of your Mujahideen brothers were on night patrol observing the movements of the American enemy occupying our territory along the borders with the Iranian enemy. Your brothers noticed 19 Iranians along with two members of the Badr Brigade stooge force of the American occupation sneaking into Iraqi territory in three large cars.

“Your brothers arrested them and began to interrogate them to learn what they brought with them. We found that they had machine guns equipped with silencers and chemical substances such as deadly potassium-cyanide ミ the same substance that Badr Brigade members tried to put in the al-Fallujah fresh water pumping station in an attempt to annihilate our people there. But by the grace of God they were caught and executed in central al-Fallujah’s Celebration Square in time.

“The infiltrators admitted that Iranian Intelligence had sent them to Iraq in return for monetary rewards of as much as US$100,000 to assassinate a number of Sunni and Shi‘i religious scholars [‘Ulama’] in order to sow sectarian strife between the two communities. They were also to attack Shi‘i husayniyah places of worship during the current period following the Shi‘i holy period of ‘Ashura’.

“They also admitted that they entered Iraq with the help of the lackey Badr Brigades, who have been funded by Iran in the past months, and to having killed a number of Sunni religious scholars, among them the Sunni Mufti in Ba‘qubah one year ago, as well as a number of other Sunni ‘Ulama’.

“We therefore executed them by shooting on the border and left their bodies to the dogs that they might serve as an example for anyone who seeks to enter our country to cause trouble.

“God is the Master of his affair, and there is no victory but from God!”

The statement was signed: “The Salafi Squadrons of the Mujahideen of the Eastern Gate of Iraq.”

Al-Basrah Province.

Al-Basrah.

Resistance sharp shooter kills British soldier in al-Basrah Thursday morning.

An Iraqi sharp shooter shot and killed a British occupation soldier in the az-Zubayr area of the southern Iraqi city of al-Basrah at about 10am Thursday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported a puppet policeman as saying that the soldier had been standing by a bakery in the al-‘Askari neighborhood when the Iraqi Resistance sharp shooter opened fire, apparently from the roof of the bakery opposite where he was standing. The soldier was struck in the head and killed.

After the attack British occupation troops surrounded the area and launched a wave of searches that yielded them nothing.
