Al-Anbar Province.
Al-Qa'im.

Iraqi Resistance seizes control of city of al-Qa'im on the Syrian border.

The Iraqi Resistance issued several communiqu市 on Thursday morning announcing that the city of al-Qa'im on the Iraqi-Syrian border, had fallen militarily from the hands of the Americans and their Iraqi puppet "government" into the hands of the Iraqi Resistance after the deployment of dozens of Iraqi Resistance fighters throughout all neighborhoods of the city.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses in the city as saying that the Iraqi puppet army had withdrawn at dawn on Thursday after the Resistance appeared in great force in the city streets, armed with their usual light, medium, and heavy weaponry.

City residents said that they heard three calls of "Allahu akbar!' ("God is greatest!") from various mosques in the city at dawn prayer times, a call that they believe was a signal to Resistance fighters to prepare for the expected battle.

In his dispatch posted at 12:35pm Thursday afternoon Mecca time, the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that as of the time he filed his report, the city of al-Qa'im remained free of all US and Iraqi puppet presence and completely in the control of the Iraqi Resistance.

Resistance shoots down US Cobra helicopter over al-Qa'im early Thursday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 1:38pm Thursday afternoon, Mecca time, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while before Iraqi Resistance forces in al-Qa'im shot down a US Cobra helicopter over the city. Resistance ground fire struck the American aircraft and caused it to burst into flames on all four sides and crash in the area east of the city, witnesses said.

The correspondent at that point had no information regarding the fate of the American crew, but it was believed that they were killed when the craft caught fire in the air.

US attempt to break into al-Qa'im fails Thursday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 4:30pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US mechanized forces with helicopter air support had advanced on al-Qa'im and tried to break into the city about fifteen minutes earlier, but failed. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam's correspondent in the city that the American forces were unable to overcome the stubborn defense put up by the Iraqi Resistance.

In an hour and a half of fighting Resistance repulses US attacks, forcing US to pull back as night falls.

In a dispatch posted at 6:25pm Mecca time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces attempted to storm into al-Qa'im late Thursday afternoon. A fierce battle raged for about an hour and a half as American troops struck at the eastern and southern approaches of the city.

Resistance forces beat back the American attackers, however, destroying four Humvees and shooting down one US helicopter. Several tanks and armored vehicles were also disabled or destroyed and a number of US troops killed or wounded.

Witnesses reported that after failing to break down the Resistance defenses, US forces pulled back from the outskirts of the city. At the time of reporting, the correspondent wrote, Resistance forces were in control of all parts of the city of al-Qa'im and remained in fortified positions on the city's outskirts.

Hit.

Resistance pounds US base with powerful Grad rockets.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired 15 Grad rockets into the `Ayn Asad air base in the western Iraqi city of Hit, the local headquarters of US occupation forces, (known as al-Qadisiyah Base before the US occupation). The rockets were targeted on the central parts of the base where US forces are concentrated.

In a dispatch posted at 12:45pm Thursday afternoon, Mecca time, the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the bombardment was followed by the sound of four huge explosions that shattered glass in Iraqi homes near the base. The sky over the US-occupied facility was enveloped in dense clouds of smoke and four large American Chinook helicopters flew in and landed inside the base where they evacuated a number of bodies, according to witnesses.

The correspondent was unable to obtain more detailed information on the bombardment and the precise number of casualties, but the Resistance organization al-Jihad in the Land of the Two Rivers announced its responsibility for the attack in a communiqu distributed around mosques in the city.

Al-Fallujah.

Fighting Wednesday night prompts US to close western exits from al-Fallujah Thursday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 9:35am Thursday morning Mecca time, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops had sealed all the western entrances to the city of al-Fallujah, prohibiting cars and Iraqi citizens from entering or leaving the city over the old and new bridges to the west.

The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported a member of the puppet police as saying that the US forces closed the entrances to the city to the west because intermittent fighting raged between the Resistance and US Marines in the area between the bridges for three hours on Wednesday night. The fighting, he said, left seven US troops dead and others wounded.

American F-16s rocket two houses in al-Fallujah.

In a dispatch posted at 2:45pm Thursday afternoon Mecca time, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier US F-16 fighter airplanes had fired three rockets at two neighboring houses in the al-Wahdah neighborhood of al-Fallujah behind a child care facility in the center of the city. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the two houses were completely destroyed by the American rockets but it was not known if anyone was inside at the time of the US attack.

Ar-Rutbah.

Resistance bomb kills three US troops near Jordanian border Thursday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a column of five US Humvees in the western Iraqi city of ar-Rutbah, not far from the Jordanian frontier, at 10am Thursday morning, local time. Residents of the Alman area east of ar-Rutbah told Mafkarat al-Islam that the bomb had been planted in the middle of an unpaved road linking Alman with ar-Rutbah. They said that it blew up under one of the American vehicles, totally destroying it and killing three of its crew members and wounding a fourth.

US forces make constant use the road on which the attack occurred, regularly sending their patrols out over it, the local correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

Ar-Ramadi.

Eleven bodies of Iraqi collaborator spies found by US troops Thursday morning.

US occupation troops discovered 11 bodies of Iraqi collaborators west of the city of ar-Ramadi on Thursday. The Iraqi collaborators were members of a group for what is called "repressing terrorism" that was formed by the Americans several weeks ago during the US offensive on al-Fallujah.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in ar-Ramadi reported a member of the US Marines as saying that the 11 bodies belonged to people collaborating with US forces in the area of security and that they had been shot to death.

A source in the Iraqi puppet military told Mafkarat al-Islam that the bodies belonged to members of the ar-Ramadi "repression of `terrorism' force" who collaborated with US army intelligence and espionage efforts. They disappeared three days ago, the source said, after leaving the US base west of ar-Ramadi.

Witnesses said that the US military brought in such collaborators after they despaired of getting local volunteers from the city itself to join their in their "security" activity.

Baghdad.

Resistance group claims it executed top American CIA director in Iraq.

The Squadrons of the Islamic Jihad on Thursday distributed a communiqu among journalists in Baghdad announcing that they had executed the director of American intelligence in Iraq, Dere Stouffer, the American Central Intelligence Agency's director in Iraq. Note by translator: the correct English spelling of the name could not be verified.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Squadrons of the Islamic Jihad displayed a picture of the intelligence director along with their communiqu, saying that he had been executed along with a number of other Americans. The statement also was accompanied by a number of photographs showing the deceased in meetings with a number of Iraqi puppet officials including Ahmad Chelebi and Hazim ash-Sha`lan.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam received a copy of the communiqu and noted that if the information contained in it is true, it would be the most important US official to be liquidated by the Iraqi Resistance since the American occupation of Baghdad two years ago.

Resistance pounds Abu Ghurayb prison camp Thursday morning.

Iraqi Resistance forces mounted a fierce bombardment of more than 15 missiles on Abu Ghurayb prison camp on Thursday morning. The intense bombardment targeted eastern and southern parts of the camp. Witnesses in the area told Mafkarat al-Islam that as a result of the attack, dense clouds of smoke were rising into the sky at the time the correspondent filed his report (posted at 10:40am Mecca time Thursday morning).

Kurdish chauvinist agent of CIA, Mossad proclaimed "president" of puppet regime.

Kurdish chauvinist and long-time lackey of the US Central Intelligence Agency and the Zionist Mossad, 71-year old Jalal at-Talibani, took the oath of puppet "president" of Iraq on Thursday. The "inauguration" publicity show was held under intense American guard inside the headquarters of the US occupation in the area of the Republican Palace in Baghdad, called the "green zone" by the invaders.

Underlining the sectarian division of the country imposed by the US occupation, Ghazi al-Yawur, a US stooge of Sunni Arab background, and `Adil `Abd al-Mahdi, a Shi`i collaborator, took oaths as "vice-presidents" of the puppet "authority."

The most important position in the puppet regime is to be occupied by another Shi`i. The chief of the collaborationist Da`wah Party, Ibrahim al-Ja`fari, whom Sunni circles accuse of involvement in planned sectarian atrocities against members of their community, is to be "prime-minister."

With the office of "prime minister" assigned to a Shi`i and the "presidency" designated as a Kurdish position, the stooge "representative" of the Sunni Arab community has been consigned to the largely ceremonial position of "speaker" of the puppet "parliament." That individual is, like the "president" of the state, however, to carry out his functions with one Kurdish and one Shi`i "deputy speaker."

All these sectarian offices are to function under the auspices of the US occupation whose military actually runs the country's affairs under political guidance from Washington through the American ambassador.

The Americans have imposed the sectarian division of offices in the puppet regime as a part of an effort to sow inter-ethnic and sectarian dissention in order to try to split the country and facilitate Zionist and American domination in Iraq and throughout the Arab region.

Diyala Province.
Ba`qubah.

Resistance martyrdom car bomber kills six American troops near Ba`qubah.

An Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-laden red Cadet car into a column of four American armored vehicles that were on their way back from what the invaders refer to as a "security mission" northeast of Ba`qubah at about 10am Baghdad time on Thursday. A high-ranking source in the Iraqi puppet army told Mafkarat al-Islam that the explosion destroyed one of the American armored vehicles, killing six American troops and wounding two more.

After the attack, US forces encircled the entire area and brought in two US helicopters that landed in the area and evacuated the bodies of the dead.

Salah ad-Din Province.
Tikrit.

Resistance car bomb wounds four puppet police near Tikrit Wednesday night.

An officer in the puppet police in Iraq announced that an Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by a puppet police reconnaissance patrol west of Tikrit (which is 180km north of Baghdad) on Wednesday evening.

The spokesman said that the blast occurred on the highway at 11pm local time when the patrol stopped to investigate the car apparently abandoned by the road. Puppet police officer Mahmud al-`Azzawi said that the explosives-laden car, a Brazilian Passat had no one inside when it exploded, wounding four puppet policemen, Agence France Presse reported.

Ninwa Province.
Mosul.

Resistance bomb kills four US troops in Mosul Thursday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb blasted a US vehicle in the al-Yarmuk neighborhood of central Mosul Thursday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of the area who saw the attack as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road near a fuel pumping station exploded by a column of several US vehicles.

A source in the Iraqi puppet army said that the blast totally burned and destroyed one Humvee, killing four American soldiers and wounding a fifth.

US forces "by mistake" shoot Iraqi cameraman working for CBS TV.

The US military claimed that its forces "mistakenly" shot an Iraqi working as a cameraman for the American CBS television network as he was covering fighting in the northern city of Mosul. The Americans claimed to have "mistaken" his video camera for a weapon.

Al-Basrah Province.
Al-Basrah.

Resistance bomb blows up puppet police car in al-Basrah Thursday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by an Iraqi puppet police patrol in the al-Ma`arid ("Exhibitions") area near Sa`d Square in the southern Iraqi city of al-Basrah at about 10am Thursday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that the blast destroyed a police car, killing or injuring those aboard. The Iraqi Resistance organization the al-Hasan al-Basri Brigades took responsibility for the attack in a communiqu distributed in the city.
