Resistance bombards US base near ar-Ramadi at dawn Thursday.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired four rockets at the US al-Warrar base near ar-Ramadi in western Iraq at 6am Thursday morning local time.

Witnesses who live in the at-Ta’mim neighborhood in the vicinity of the base told Mafkarat al-Islam that they heard the sound of successive explosions coming from within the US base at dawn. The blasts were so powerful that they shattered glass in residences near the American base. Smoke could be seen rising over the American-occupied facility. US warplanes prowled the sky above ar-Ramadi for half an hour after the attack.

Five US troops killed in morning car bombing in ar-Ramadi.

An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by a US military column in central ar-Ramadi at 11am local time Thursday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported local witnesses as saying that a car that was parked on al-Barid Streeet in the middle of the city exploded when a US column was passing by.

The blast, which shook the whole center of town, completely destroyed two Humvees and killed five American troops and wounded two more. The explosion was so powerful that it scattered parts of the vehicles all around buildings in the area.

After the attack US forces encircled the area and prevented anyone from approaching. They closed the street entirely. Al-Barid Street is the main street in the city, on which are located the offices of the provincial government and other central government agencies.

Baghdad.

Resistance car bomb kills three US troops on Airport Road early Thursday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by a US patrol on the highway leading to Saddam International Airport in Baghdad at about 7:30am Thursday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that an Opel stationwagon was parked by the side of the highway and as a US patrol passed by, it exploded, disabling their Humvee and killing three US troops and seriously wounding a fourth. The seriously wounded man was evacuated immediately, the source said and US troops closed the Airport Road and deployed a large number of troops in the area.

Five US troops killed in Resistance bombing Thursday morning in Abu Ghurayb area.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column in the Abu Munaysir area west of Baghdad at 9:30am Thursday morning local time, destroying one Humvee and seriously damaging another. The blast killed five US troops and wounded three more.

Sources in the puppet police said that the bomb was planted on the approach to the Abu Munaysir Bridge in Abu Ghurayb and that it exploded next to a column of seven US Humvees that was going up onto the bridge. The blast caused one Humvee to burst into flames, killing all aboard it while damaging another vehicle.

US forces, as usual, closed the highway linking Baghdad to Abu Ghurayb as American helicopters flew in to evacuate the dead and wounded. American troops imposed a security perimeter around the area and then carried out raids and searches in the areas near the highway, arresting 15 local residents.

The Australian Foreign Ministry admitted on Thursday that an Australian mercenary from New South Wales was killed on Wednesday when Iraqi Resistance forces armed with light weapons carried out an attack on the road to Saddam International Airport. The Australian Foreign Ministry described the dead Australian as a private security guard working for Edinburgh Risk and Security Management, a private British company supplying mercenaries. The man served in the Australian military from 1986 to 1996.

The Australian Foreign Ministry said that the mercenary was killed “along with two other non-Iraqis” while traveling in what it called an “unarmed convoy” to Saddam International Airport” to meet an executive of the mercenary company.

The Australian ministry said that the Resistance fighters in a sports utility vehicle opened fire at the front and rear vehicles in the mercenary convoy and that the Australian who died was in the rear of the convoy.

A spokesman for Global Risk Strategies, another mercenary supplier, told the Sidney Morning Herald newspaper that “there had recently been an increase in attacks” on mercenary and profiteer companies operating in occupied Iraq.

Document: Bulletin from the al-Basrah Iraqi patriotic website “The Resistance is strengthening its control while the occupation flees Iraq’s cities.”

“Information coming from Baghdad indicates that Iraqi Resistance armed operations have become so frequent that it is no longer possible to count them. There are bomb explosions everywhere. Dozens of attacks have been taking place every day since the second anniversary of the launch of the armed Iraqi Revolution on 11 April 2003. US forces have begun to avoid entering cities and neighborhoods. In the neighborhoods of al-‘Amiriyah, ash-Shurtah, al-A‘zamiyah, ad-Durah, Madinat Saddam, on the Airport Road, in al-‘Amil, al-Fadl, inner and outer al-Karradah on Hayfa Street, etc., - in these Baghdad areas and others, it has become normal to see neither American troops nor any of the Iranian mercenary Badr Brigade collaborator troops. And when they do dare to enter, they don’t come out. As a result, many citizens are staying indoors, avoiding going out.

“Members of the so-called Patriotic Group in the puppet ‘parliament’ have therefore claimed that security in the cities has entirely evaporated, noting that none of the officials in the puppet regime dares to leave the ‘green zone’ since dozens of traitors and Iranian mercenaries of the Badr Brigades were executed by the Resistance recently. Those Patriot Group representatives say that the disappearance of security is because the puppet ‘parliament’ has not yet formed a “government.” But Baghdad residents see Iraqi Resistance men freely going about the city streets in Baghdad neighborhoods looking for American and puppet forces to fight.

“In a telephone conversation from Baghdad, local residents said that since the launch of the armed revolution, they have never seen so many or such large-scale armed attacks by the Resistance as are being carried out these days. And in the rest of Iraq, the Resistance has succeeded in inflicting massive losses on the US, British, and mercenary forces of the Badr Brigades and the Peshmergah Kurdish chauvinists ミ in an-Nasiriyah, Karbala’, al-Basrah, al-‘Amarah, Diyala, Mosul, Irbil, Dahuk, al-Qa’im, Hadithah, ar-Ramadi, al-Fallujah, and other places too.

“Iraqis tell proudly of the great Resistance attack on Abu Ghurayb prison that astounded the Americans and impelled them to indicate that they were ready for negotiations with the armed Resistance. US sources did not conceal, according to the news as reported in Baghdad, that the side that rejected talks was the Resistance and the Baath Party Command, who have continued to insist on the implementation of the conditions they announced for entering into serious negotiations. The shooting down of the American helicopter today, killing 11 American and Bulgarian thugs just confirms that the armed Revolution is firmly advancing in keeping with the plans of the Resistance.”

Salah ad-Din Province.

At-Tarimiyah.

Six American mercenaries among 11 killed when Resistance shoots down US helicopter north of Baghdad midday Thursday.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired a rocket and brought down a US Mi-8 helicopter near at-Tarimiyah, north of Baghdad, at midday Thursday, killing all aboard.

Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the helicopter was flying at a low altitude when the Resistance missile struck it and set the aircraft ablaze.

US military sources admitted the crash of the helicopter.

The American Associated Press (AP) reported that the helicopter was carrying six American mercenaries who were employed by the Blackwater USA mercenary company, according to the US embassy. The members of the three-man crew were Bulgarians, according to the Bulgarian Defense Ministry.

The AP said that the helicopter was owned by Bulgaria-based Heli Air and chartered by Toronto-based SkyLink Aviation Inc., according to SkyLink air operations manager Paul Greenaway. The helicopter was flying to Tikrit, he said, according to the AP report. SkyLink said there were two bodyguards from Fiji on board as well, while Bulgaria’s Transport Ministry said they were from the Philippines.

American officials had trouble getting their stories straight concerning the helicopter. The AP reported that US military officials in Baghdad initially said the helicopter was contracted by the Defense Department, but the American embassy later said that was untrue. It gave no information on the contractor.

The AP also was left in the dark about whether the “civilian employee” mercenaries of Blackwater were under contract to the Pentagon or the State Department, indicating that the entire operation was shrouded in secrecy.

The AP reported Heli Air sales manager Sotislav Bozhkov as saying that the Russian-built aircraft was hit by at least one surface-to-air missile.

The Resistance fighters were armed with light and medium weapons including RPG7 rocket-propelled grenades. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported that the blast destroyed a Brigish armored vehicle and a pickup belonging to the puppet police. Three British soldiers and two puppet policemen were killed in the attack and two other puppet policemen were wounded.

After the attack, British troops encircled the area and searched and inspected the area along both sides of the road where they found an unexploded bomb, which they disarmed.
