Sunday, 5 June 2005.

Al-Anbar Province.

Hit.

Iraqi Resistance blasts US ‘Ayn al-Asad base with barrage of powerful Ababil rockets early Sunday.

Iraqi Resistance forces mounted a ferocious rocket assault ミ the heaviest of its kind in more than a year in terms of the type of rockets used ミ on the US ‘Ayn al-Asad base near Hit in western Iraq.

A source in the Iraqi puppet army told the Hit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam that eight rockets blasted into ‘Ayn al-Asad base, the largest US facility in western Iraq, early Sunday morning, killing or wounding dozens of US troops.

Witnesses reported that the rockets were of the powerful Ababil type, a part of the arsenal of the Army of the Republic of Iraq from before the US occupation of the country in spring 2003. The Resistance organization Partisans of the Sunnah Prophet’s Practice announced its responsibility for the attack and promised to mount yet more on US bases throughout Iraq.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces worked visibly at evacuating their casualties, fighting fires, and digging up rubble in the base from 7am and were still engaged in those activities at the time he filed his report, posted at 9:59am Mecca time Sunday morning. The Americans called in the Iraqi puppet so-called “rapid deployment force,” ordering them into their base to fight the fire, lift rubble from off trapped American soldiers, and help extract wounded. US F-16s and F-17s, meanwhile, threateningly prowled the skies over the city of Hit.

The correspondent reported that the Americans had still at the time of writing not recovered from the shock of the attack.

Resistance forces ambush US column on highway north of Hit Sunday afternoon.

Iraqi Resistance forces ambushed a US patrol in the 35 kilometer area on the highway north of Hit at abouat 3pm Sunday afternoon local time. Hit residents who saw the attack told Mafkarat al-Islam that Resistance fighters armed with light and medium weapons mounted an attack on a US patrol of four armored vehicles and two Humvees on the highway.

The witnesses said that the Resistance fighters destroyed one American armored vehicle and set one Humvee ablaze. Their attack left six American troops dead and eight others wounded. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that two Resistance fighters were killed in the engagement.

After the ambush, US forces surrounded the entire area and brought in helicopters to evacuate the wrecked vehicles and the casualties.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance launches series of attacks on US forces in ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah Sunday.

Iraqi Resistance attacks in and around al-Fallujah on Sunday centered on the area of al-‘Amiriyah to the south of the city. Four Iraqi Resistance land mines blew up there and one car bomb exploded in the course of a number of Resistance attacks on occupation troops in the area.

At 7am local time Sunday morning, an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in the al-Bu ‘Isa area of al-‘Amiriyah, killing four American soldiers and seriously wounding a fifth. After the blast, US forces surrounded the area and arrested Shaykh Khalid Faraj, a leader of the Iraqi al-Bu ‘Isa tribe on charges that he served supper to the Resistance fighters and helped them plant the bomb in the area.

At 10:15am local time Sunday morning an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column in the al-Bu Shiddah area, killing several US troops and destroying one Humvee and disabling a second. Lieutenant Fawzi Jasim of the Iraqi puppet army told the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the area that an Iraqi Resistance martyrdom bomber carried out the attack. The Resistance organization Base Qa‘idah of the Jihad in the Land of the Two Rivers announced its responsibility for the attack in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by the correspondent.

At 2pm Sunday afternoon, local time, a high-explosive Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a column of seven US vehicles and four Nissan vehicles belonging to the Iraqi puppet forces. The blast occurred at the main entrance to the al-‘Amiriyah residential complex, according to a source in the Iraqi puppet forces. The source, who asked to remain anonymous, told Mafkarat al-Islam that the blast killed one Iraqi puppet soldier and wounded three more. It also partly destroyed the vehicle they were riding in. The Iraqi puppet source said that one US Marine was also severely wounded in the blast because he was standing up in his Humvee when the bomb went off.

At 4pm Sunday afternoon local time, Iraqi Resistance forces fired a rocket, believed to be a C5K, at a US Bradley armored vehicle, destroying the Bradley and killing four American soldiers and wounding three more. The US occupation forces acknowledged the attack in a broadcast on the American propaganda staion “Radio al-Hurriyah” that broadcasts from the puppet government buildings in the al-Anbar Provincial capital of ar-Ramadi.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb went off by a US Marine foot patrol in the al-Bu Yusuf area Sunday, killing two Marines and wounding seven more, according to a source in the Iraqi puppet military.

On Sunday evening, US forces responded to all those attacks by cutting the main road leading from al-‘Amiriyah to al-Fallujah in the north and setting up a checkpoint to the east of the city on the road leading to Baghdad.

US admits to killing woman Iraqi Resistance fighter planting a bomb as attacks on US targets in al-Fallujah escalate.

A US military spokesman admitted on Sunday morning that Iraqi Resistance attacks on US occupation forces in al-Fallujah have clearly increased in the past and current week.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Fallujah reported a US officer in the city as saying that the city is now witnessing an organized and escalating campaign of attacks on US and Iraqi puppet troops, with three or four attacks taking place virtually every day.

The US officer said that they have a hard time distinguishing between civilians and Resistance fighters in al-Fallujah where the population as a whole, he said, is very familiar with “security” matters.

The American officer told Mafkarat al-Islam that US forces killed a 22-year old Iraqi girl who was planting a high-explosive bomb next to a road in the ash-Shuhada’ neighborhood of southern al-Fallujah. A helicopter spotted her and opened fire, killing her instantly. The officer said that US troops then went in to take away the bomb and found that it had been planted by someone with very great expertise in explosives.

Al-Qa’im.

American troops wound, imprison six-year-old girl, now missing for one month.

US forces arrested a little Iraqi girl aged six after wounding her, the Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ Scholars reported in a statement issued Sunday, a copy of which was received by Mafkarat al-Islam. More than a month ago, the little girl was with her father when US forces opened fire inflicting non-life-threatening wounds on her. The US forces then arrested the little girl along with her father. Witnesses said that the little girl, Sihr Rafi‘ Dhib, 6, was taken with her father to an unknown destination. The Americans gave no explanation. The incident has aroused serious concerns among local residents, all of them Bedouin who live in the al-Jazirah desert near al-Qa’im on the Syrian border.

Al-Hajj Dhib, the Sihr’s grandfather, said that Sihr was with her father and a number of relatives in the city traveling in two cars. US forces pursued them and opened fire, wounding the girl. They gave the father not chance to call an ambulance but took him and his daughter into custody leaving the other relatives in a state of terror and intense worry.

Al-Hajj Dhib said, “we inquired about them in more than one place and got no information. After a full month, we learned that Sihr’s father is in prison now in Abu Ghurayb. Sihr received medical treatment and was taken to an unknown destination. Her father told us that his daughter was with him until recently. But now he has no knowledge of what has happened to her, after the American troops took her from him.”

Al-Hajj Dhib called on all humanitarian institutions and agencies and the US forces to secure the release of his innocent little granddaughter whose only “crime” was to be with her father, who also was never charged with anything.

Al-Khalidiyah.

Resistance fighters attack US camp near al-Khalidiyah.

In a dispatch posted at 5pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces attacked the US military camp by the as-Siddiqiyah Village Bridge east of al-Khalidiyah (which lies 80km west of Baghdad). Residents of as-Siddiqiyah village told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Resistance threw hand grenades at the US camp, setting an American Humvee ablaze and killing several US troops. They then clashed with American soldiers with light and medium weapons.

The correspondent reported witnesses as saying that the Resistance fighters set one US armored vehicle on fire, killing seven American troops and wounding three more. The Americans then called in back up from the US base in the al-Habbaniyah area, east of al-Khalidiyah, and helicopters flew in.

American troops surrounded the town and launched a campaign of raids, arresting more than 40 residents of al-Khalidiyah in their sweep through the city.

Baghdad.

Deadly Resistance bomb strikes US patrol in Abu Ghurayb Sunday afternoon.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a column of four US Humvees in the Khan Darri area of Abu Ghurayb, 30km west of Baghdad at 4pm Saturday afternoon.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported owners of groves in the rural Khan Darri area who witnessed the attack as saying that the bomb was planted in the middle of an unpaved farm road. They said that the device blew up under one of the American Humvees, totally destroying it and killing three American soldiers and seriously wounding a fourth.

Puppet regime admits to indiscriminate repression of Sunni population in so-called “Operation Lightning,” supposedly targeted on Iraqi Resistance.

A spokesman for Ibrahim al-Ja‘fari, the Shi‘i chauvinist puppet “prime minister” of Iraq installed under US auspices in April, admitted to the press on Sunday that puppet security forces “might” have been targeting Sunni Iraqis indiscriminately in the course of their latest offensive against the Iraqi Resistance.

Layth Kubbah tried to justify the state campaign of sectarian violence by alleging that there had been “an improvement in security and in the performance of the security forces.” But the American Associated Press quoted Kubbah as admitting that “members of the army and police do cause mistakes.” Concerning widespread Sunni complaints that puppet “soldiers took advantage and helped themselves to cash and other items,” Kubbah coyly admitted, “One doesn’t rule it out.”

Salah ad-Din Province.

At-Tarimiyah.

Resistance bomb blasts US column in at-Tarimiyah early Sunday afternoon.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military patrol in at-Tarimiyah, just north of Baghdad at 2pm local time Sunday afternoon. Witnesses in the city told Mafkarat al-Islam that the bomb had been planted in a large oil can which was placed by the side of a road. It exploded when a patrol of four Humvees was passing by, setting one Humvee ablaze and killing one US soldier and wounding three more.

Diyala Province.

Al-Mada’in.

Resistance martyrdom fighter blasts US column Sunday afternoon.

An Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-packed Opel car into a US armored column in the al-‘Askari neighborhood in the south of the town of al-Mada’in, located 30km southeast of Baghdad, at 3pm Sunday afternoon local time.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Mada’in reported residents of the al-‘Askari neighborhood who witnessed the attack as saying that the Resistance martyrdom fighter broke into the column of six US armored vehicles and four Humvees and blew up near one of the armored vehicles. The blast, they said, totally destroyed the armored vehicle, killing four US soldiers and wounding five more.

Babil Province.

Al-Hillah.

Resistance bomb targets Polish occupation troops early Sunday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a Polish military patrol in the middle of al-Hillah, 110km south of Baghdad at 8am Sunday morning, local time. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the bomb blast killed one Polish occupation soldier and wounded three more.

For its part the Iraqi puppet forces in al-Hillah denied that the bomb caused any Polish casualties, but local witnesses insisted that one Pole was killed and three others wounded, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

Al-Mahmudiyah.

Campaign of repression in al-Mahmudiyah area denounced.

In a series of statements issued Sunday and obtained by Mafkarat al-Islam, the Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ Scholars, the highest Sunni religious authority in occupied Iraq, denounced raids and attacks being conducted by puppet regime forces in the area of al-Mahmudiyah and its environs, south of Baghdad.

The puppet army, puppet “national guard and puppet police, backed up by US forces have been carrying out a rampant campaign in the area of al-Mahmudiyah, al-Latifiyah, ar-Rashid, and al-Qasr al-Awsat since Thursday, 2 June 2005, the Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ said.

In the course of their campaign of repression, US and puppet forces used loudspeakers to proclaim a ban on Friday congregational prayers. They imposed curfews and raided houses and mosques, including the al-Mustafa Mosque in al-Mahmudiyah where they arrested the Imam al-Hajj Husayn ‘Ali al-Janabi and his son Khalid as well as the muezzin and mosque custodian. They stole the car of Mr Muhammad ‘Atwan on the grounds that it was being “prepared for use as a car bomb” and they accused all the above men of having weapons in the mosque, even though there were none there.

The occupation troops and their stooges arrested and tortured Shaykh ‘Abd as-Sattar as-Sa‘idi, a member of the Board of Muslim ‘Ulama and the Imam of the at-Taysir Mosque.

They arrested Shaykh ‘Aday as-Sa‘idi, another member of the Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’, and Shaykh Ibrahim Shihab at-Ta’i, the Imam of the ar-Rawdah al-Muhammadiyah Mosque.

US occupation forces stormed into the al-Arqam ibn Abi al-Arqam Mosque in the al-Mikanik area of the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah at 1am and arrested Hafiz al-‘Ubaydi and his son ‘Ali, taking them away to an unknown destination.

The Board statements went on to say that innocent civilians had been victimized by the latest offensive. Most of the men of the village of al-‘Ujayr ash-Sharqi, which is in the al-Bu ‘Isa area east of ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah, were arrested in a raid on Saturday during which the troops burst down the doors of peoples’ homes and smashed their furniture, while hurling curses and vulgar insults at them and their values.

The Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ appealed to the media to publicize these inhuman, arbitrary repressive activities against the Sunni population.

Ninwa Province.

Al-Ba‘aj.

Humanitarian disaster stalks al-Ba ‘aj after one week under US siege without food, water, medicine.

The Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ Scholars issued a statement in Sunday denouncing the US blockade on the town of al-Ba‘aj, which is causing considerable suffering for the local population.

The Board statement reported that US forces had sealed off the town since Monday, 30 May 2005, allowing no water, food, or medicine into the town. The intense difficulty caused by this blockade prompted the people of al-Ba‘aj to appeal to the Board to takeup their case and seek assistance.

The Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ said that was particularly surprising about the situation was that the US side had so far not explained the reason for their inhuman blockade and starvation of the people of the town.

The Board urged the media to publicize the plight of the people of al-Ba‘aj, to denounce the siege of the city and to appeal for help in the midst of the human tragedy unfolding there.

Maysan Province.

Al-‘Amarah.

Sunni community calls for a halt to persecution by Shi‘i chauvinist local authorities, militias.

The Sunni community in the city of al-‘Amarah, about 366km south of Baghdad issued an appeal over the Mafkarat al-Islam website, calling on the Sunni Board of Waqf pious endowments and the Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ Scholars to help put an end to the outrages being committed by the local puppet authorities, who were thoroughly permeated with sectarian Shi‘i chauvinists bent on stirring up confessionalist strife and driving Sunnis from their region.

Most recently, the local puppet authorities seized the Hittin Mosque, a Sunni institution for decades, and handed it over to the Shi‘ah community, together with threats to do the same with all the other Sunni mosques in the province.

The Sunni community in al-‘Amarah called for their mosque to be taken out of the hands of the Shi‘i chauvinist Badr Brigades, who now control the building, and given back to the Sunni community. The Badr Brigades are the armed wing of the Shi ‘ chauvinist collaborationist so-called Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI) thousands of whom invaded Iraq together with US troops in the spring of 2003 and since then have formed the backbone of the puppet security forces, particularly in southern Iraq.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that about 100 Badr Brigade gunmen stormed into Hittin Mosque, beat up the imam and the custodian of the mosque, calling them “terrorists” and “Wahhabis” and ransacked the building, wrecking furniture and throwing it out into the street, breaking the loudspeaker and tossing out Islamic books on the pretext that they were “Wahhabi.”

Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that Badr Brigade gunmen took down the sign “Hittin Mosque” and replaced it with a sign saying “az-Zahra’ Husayniyah.”

Mafkarat al-Islam reported that there has long been a large Sunni community in the predominantly Shi‘i city of al-‘Amarah, but that since the US invasion the gunmen of the Shi’i chauvinist pro-American Badr Brigade and of the Shi‘i chauvinist Da‘wah Party (the head of which is the recently installed puppet “prime minister” Ibrahim al-Ja‘fari) have been widely agitating against the Sunni population, spreading the sectarian idea that all Sunnis are “Wahhabis” and “terrorists.” Backed by the US, these Shi‘i chauvinist sectarians are seeking to promote sectarian strife throughout Iraq with a view to dividing the country.
