Al-Anbar Province.

Al-Qa’im.

After fierce battle US troops seize strategic bridge; Resistance then blows it up.

In a bulletin posted at 10:35am Mecca time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short time earlier US forces seized control of the ar-Rummanah - al-Karabilah Bridge after a savage battle with Iraqi Resistance forces that lasted for several hours.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Qa’im reported a member of the Resistance as saying that the American occupation troops, making use of massive air cover from fighter planes, were able to seize the important bridge that links the two towns.

Nevertheless, the Resistance did not leave the bridge alone after pulling back from it. The Resistance blew up the bridge so as to prevent the American invaders from crossing it, as the Resistance strove at the same time to establish a communications link between the two Resistance-controlled liberated communities.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that they saw a number of wrecked US vehicles on fire and watched as American helicopters came to evacuate the dead and wounded to the American ‘Ayn al-Asad base in Hit.

Resistance bombards US positions near ar-Rummanah Bridge midday Saturday.

In a dispatch posted at 1:49pm Mecca time Saturday afternoon, the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Qa’im reported that the Iraqi Resistance had bombarded US positions near the ar-Rummanah Bridge which the American invader forces seized early Saturday after a battle that raged for six days. After that the Resistance blew up the bridge (see story above).

Residents of al-Qa’im who witnessed the bombardment told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Resistance fired nine medium-range rockets, believed to be of the Grad type, and six other missiles, believed to be mortar shells into the American positions.

US troops beat woman unconscious, arrest her in village near al-Qa’im.

US occupation troops on Saturday morning arrested a woman in the al-Qa’im district after raiding her house and beating her unconscious, according to witnesses in al-‘Ishsh village.

In a statement, the Culture and Information Department of the Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ Scholars, the highest Sunni religious authority in occupied Iraq, stated that the arrest took place against the backdrop of a large-scale US military offensive that has gone on for more than one week in al-Qa’im and its environs where local people are putting up fierce resistance to the presence of occupation troops in their area.

Al-Hadithah.

Resistance bomb kills US soldier in al-Hadithah Saturday afternoon.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column on the highway in the city of al-Hadithah, 350km west of Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local witnesses as saying that the bomb blew up as a column of four armored vehicles and three Humvees was passing at 3pm Saturday afternoon local time. The blast disabled one of the armored vehicles, killing one US soldier and wounding four others.

Resistance martyrdom car bomber kills nine US troops in ad-Durah Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11:33am Mecca time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-laden white Daewoo car into a US military column on the main road in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah.

A source in the puppet police told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Resistance attacker blasted into the rear of the US column, destroying one Humvee and disabling a second. The explosion left nine American troops dead and others wounded.

Residents of the area told Mafkarat al-Islam that they saw US military vehicles transporting the dead and wounded from the area after the Americans had closed off the scene of the attack.

The Resistance organization Base Qa‘idah of the Jihad in the Land of the Two Rivers announced its responsibility for the attack in a communiqu distributed two hours after the operation in several local mosques.

Resistance bomb in al-Ishaqi leaves two US troops dead.

In a dispatch posted at 2:30pm Mecca time Saturday afternoon, the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a patrol of four US Humvees in the al-Ishaqi area north of Baghdad Saturday. Residents of al-Ishaqi who witnessed the bombing told the correspondent that the blast set one Humvee ablaze and killed two American soldiers and wounded a third.

Puppet official from so-called “Iraqi foreign ministry” shot dead in Baghdad.

In a bulletin posted at 8:45pm Mecca time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while before al-Jazeera satellite TV stated that a General Director in the puppet so-called “Iraqi foreign ministry” had been shot dead by the Iraqi Resistance in the al-Jihad neighborhood of western Baghdad. Al-Jazeera offered no further details on the execution.

US efforts to plunder Iraqi oil scuttled again as Resistance bombs destroy main pumping station pushing crude oil towards the Turkish port of Ceyhan.

An official in the puppet so-called “Iraqi ministry of petroleum” announced that the country had been forced to stop its efforts to resume export of crude oil through Turkey after Iraqi Resistance forces struck the main pumping station that supplies oil to pipelines in northern Iraq.

The puppet regime official said that an Iraqi Resistance bombing coincided with efforts by the American-installed “government” to resume pumping of crude oil to the Turkish port of Ceyhan. Just hours before the blast, officials in the puppet regime boasted that they had in fact resumed pumping of crude to Turkey at a rate of 500,000 barrels per day along that pipeline.

According to Mafkarat al-Islam, the Daily Times newspaper reported that the Resistance attack was aimed at sabotaging the local pipeline that begins in Kirkuk and supplies local refineries.

Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ denounces terror raid by puppet troops on Palestinian neighborhood of Baghdad.

The Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ Scholars, the highest Sunni religious authority in occupied Iraq, issued a statement on Saturday in which it denounced a recent raid Iraqi stooge forces on Palestinian residents of Iraq.

The statement said that puppet forces belonging to the so-called “Wolf Brigade” stormed into the largely Palestinian Baladiyat section of Baghdad shortly before midnight two days earlier. The puppet troops burst into homes and terrorized children by firing their weapons indiscriminately into houses as people slept. The stooge forces arrested a number of Palestinians whom they paraded before the propaganda TV station “al-‘Iraqiyah” saying that they were responsible for a Resistance attack in the New Baghdad area but presenting no evidence to back up such claims.

The statement by the Board of Muslim ‘Ulama’ said that “signs of torture were obvious on the faces” of the arrested men who included a mentally retarded Iraqi who lives in the neighborhood; the owner of a coffee house named Ghazwan Nur ad-Din al-Madi; a peddler named Faraj ‘Abdallah Mulhim who was married six days ago; and Mulhim’s brothers ‘Adnan, a barber, and ‘Amir, who does body work on cars.

The Board statement recalled that the puppet troops stormed into the neighborhood at 11:30pm Thursday, 12 May 2005. They opened fire indiscriminately and intensely at the first building there. Bullets blasted through windows and tore up the fa溝de of the building. They put holes in water barrels and the doors of several apartments, creating panic among the residents thus awoken from sleep.

US claims nine Americans killed in recent days in al-Anbar Province.

In keeping with the standard American imperial practice of distorting and concealing the truth, US occupation forces issued a statement on Saturday in which they claimed that only nine American soldiers had been killed in combat in the province of al-Anbar in recent days, despite the fact that US Marines are now in their seventh day of a savage and so-far unsuccessful offensive against Resistance fighters in the area of al-Qa’im on the border with Syria, in addition to coming under Iraqi Resistance attack in al-Fallujah, al-Hadithah, Hit, Rawah, and other cities in the province (in addition to Resistance attacks throughout the country).

The propaganda statement issued Saturday by the US occupation command said that four of the dead Americans were killed when their amphibious vehicle ran over a bomb on Wednesday.

The same propaganda statement put the number of Iraqi Resistance fighters killed by US troops as about 100 ﾐ a figure dismissed by Resistance sources, Mafkarat al-Islam noted.

In addition to the deaths they admit in al-Anbar Province, US propaganda mouthpieces said that one American was killed and four others wounded when a Resistance land mine exploded under their vehicle in Bayji in Salah ad-Din Province, north of Baghdad.

Puppet regime releases token number of prisoners in attempt to conceal reality of political repression in occupied Iraq.

An official in the puppet so-called “Iraqi ministry of justice” announced on Saturday the release of 110 persons from the puppet regime’s prisons as a sign of what it called “good faith” and desire to put an end to controversy about the growing number of prisoners being held by the US forces and the stooge regime. The total number of prisoners in US and Iraqi puppet captivity is approximately 17,000 persons.

Diyala Province.

Ba‘qubah.

Resistance land mine kills four US troops in Ba‘qubah Saturday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance land mine exploded as a US patrol was passing through the al-Ma‘amil neighborhood in middle of Ba‘qubah at about 10am Saturday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Captain Makki Ahmad of the puppet forces as saying that the land mine was planted by the side of the road and that it exploded by a Humvee, destroying the vehicle and killing four American troops and seriously wounding a fifth.

Afterwards, US troops encircled the area, as is their habit, preventing journalists from approaching. They evacuated the corpses of their dead and transported their wounded by helicopter to the American Kharnabat base in Diyala Province.

Babil Province.

Al-Iskandariyah.

Resistance ambushes US truck convoy in al-Iskandariyah Saturday.

In a dispatch posted at 4:50pm Mecca time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a column of US military trucks on the main road (which leads to Baghdad) in the city of al-Iskandariyah, south of Baghdad. Motorists who were on the road at the time of the attack told Mafkarat al-Islam that Resistance fighters, armed with light and medium weapons, attacked the column of US trucks loaded with supplies for American troops. The attack set one of the trucks ablaze, they said, and killed two American soldiers.

Ninwa Province.

Tall ‘Afar.

Battle in Tall ‘Afar leaves six US troops dead midday Saturday.

Fighting erupted between Iraqi Resistance forces and US troops in the Tall ‘Afar area west of Mosul at 12 noon local time Saturday. The Tall ‘Afar correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that the Resistance fighters, armed with light weapons and pipe rockets, attacked a patrol of six US Humvees. The battle left two Humvees destroyed and six American troops dead and two more wounded. Two Iraqi Resistance fighters were martyred in the engagement.

At-Ta’mim Province.

Kirkuk.

Resistance rocket attack leaves four US troops dead.

Iraqi Resistance forces bombarded the US base set up in Kirkuk International Airport with 14 rockets believed to have been of the Katyusha type.

In a dispatch posted at 2:15pm Mecca time Saturday afternoon, the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet so-called “Iraqi national guard” who asked not to be identified, as saying that 14 rockets blasted into the US base and that most of them struck a group of US military vehicles, destroying three Humvees and two armored vehicles. In addition, the source said, the Resistance rocket barrage killed four US troops and wounded one.

Al-Basrah Province.

Prominent Sunni tribal leader kidnapped, Sunni workmen arrested as sectarian “cleansing” campaign by Shi‘i chauvinist collaborator authorities escalates.

It was announced in al-Basrah on Saturday morning that the general shaykh of the Sunni ad-Dawasir tribe in al-Basrah had bee kidnapped last Wednesday by unknown persons wearing military uniforms, according to a member of the tribe who spoke to Mafkarat al-Islam in the city.

The abduction took place as acts of sectarian violence and repression by local puppet officials have sharply increased following the installation of the new puppet “government” of Shi‘i chauvinist Ibrahim al-Ja‘fari. Numerous Sunni religious leaders and prominent persons have been arrested and on several occasions puppet troops have torched houses of Sunni residents and then prohibited the fire department from extinguishing the blaze.

The ad-Duwaysim tribe is a Sunni tribe deeply rooted in al-Basrah and the Arabian Gulf region.

In another incident puppet police security men arrested two Sunni citizens who work for the al-Fayha’ prefabricated building company. Witnesses of the arrest told Mafkarat al-Islam that the to men were lead away from their place of work in al-Basrah at 12:30pm local time.

Sunni residents of the al-Basrah area report that city puppet officials had openly told them that their aim was to pressure the Sunni population into leaving the area, one-by-one.
