Iraqi Resistance Report for events of Tuesday, 10 May 2005 and
Wednesday, 11 May 2005. Translated and/or compiled by Muhammad Abu
Nasr, member, editorial board, the Free Arab Voice.

Tuesday, 10 May 2005.

Al-Anbar Province.
Al-Qa'im.

US admits fighting in al-Qa'im the fiercest since al-Fallujah
offensives.

In a dispatch posted at 11:18am Mecca time Tuesday morning, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that US forces admitted on Tuesday that the battles
they had fought in al-Qa'im on the border with Syria were the fiercest
they had waged since their offensive on al-Fallujah.

An American officer spoke to the correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in
the city and claimed that during recent days the US had killed a third
of the Resistance fighters.

The correspondent reported, however, that a Resistance commander to
whom he spoke said that their total losses in al-Qa'im were no more
than 10 as of the time of reporting.

American aircraft attack al-Qa'im Hospital midday Tuesday.

In a dispatch posted at 12:27pm Mecca time Tuesday, the correspondent
for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Qa'im reported that a short while before
US F-16 fighter bombers had rocketed the main al-Qa'im Hospital.
Witnesses told the correspondent that four rockets blasted into the
hospital, killing women and elderly men.

This report was confirmed by the hospital's director Dr. Hamdi
al-Alusi in a conversation with the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent.
Dr. al-Alusi said that the attack killed and wounded pregnant women,
children, and elderly men. One of the rockets, he said, struck the
hospital's maternity ward.

At the time of writing, the correspondent reported that local people
were working to transfer the wounded and survivors of the American
attack to one of the nearby mosques, which is being turned into a
makeshift hospital in lieu of the bombed facility. US forces for
their part claimed that they attacked the hospital because
"terrorists" ミ the term they use to refer to the Iraqi Resistance
fighters ミ had taken over the hospital and turned it into a
headquarters.

Iraqi Resistance shoots down US helicopter over ar-Rummanah village
midday Tuesday.

In a dispatch posted at 12:40pm Mecca time Tuesday, Mafkarat al-Islam
reported that a short while earlier the Iraqi Resistance had shot down
an American helicopter over the village of ar-Rummanah, north of the
city of al-Qa'im.

Local residents who witnessed the attack told the correspondent for
Mafkarat al-Islam that that the helicopter fell onto a house in the
village, killing one member of the family that lives there. In
addition a woman resident of the house was injured when the crashing
helicopter caused a part of the roof to collapse on her.

The US occupation military had not at the time of reporting made any
comment on the shooting down of the helicopter, but the correspondent
for Mafkarat al-Islam confirmed that US fighter aircraft were prowling
the skies above the area where the helicopter crashed. American
troops and vehicles were unable to get into the Resistance-controlled
area of the village to evacuate the bodies of the crew or the wreckage
of the aircraft.

Al-Fallujah.

In a dispatch posted at 12:14am Mecca time Tuesday, the correspondent
for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Fallujah reported that fierce fighting was
raging in that city at the time of reporting, the most savage combat
since the withdrawal of the Resistance forces from al-Fallujah in late
January 2005.

The correspondent reported that the clashes broke out 20 minutes
before he filed his report. Resistance forces were firing medium
mortar rounds into US troop concentrations. The Resistance was also
firing RPG7 and SPG9 rocket-propelled grenades.

The sound of missiles being fired by the Americans in their camp in
the agricultural area east of al-Fallujah at the battlefield could
also be heard, the correspondent reported.

At the time of writing, the correspondent could see five US vehicles
on fire near the Mosque of `Uthman ibn `Affan in the al-Mu`allimin
neighborhood. US aircraft contented themselves with firing flares,
turning the sky over the city into day.

Equally fierce and intense battles also raged in the an-Nazal
neighborhood in the southern part of al-Fallujah. The sounds of
battle were punctuated by the chants of Allahu Akbar! ("God is
greatest!") coming from minarets in one of the mosques of the city,
reminding residents of the two battles against US offensives last year.

The correspondent noted that the eruption of fighting in two separate
parts of the city at the same time indicated that the combat was
organized according to a concerted plan.

Pre-dawn fighting in al-Fallujah on Tuesday leaves a reported 30 US
troops dead.

In a dispatch posted at 10:10am Tuesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam
reported that the battles that raged in al-Fallujah from shortly after
midnight had inflicted heavy losses on the US invader troops.

The correspondent reported from al-Fallujah that Tuesday morning saw
the Americans evacuate more than 30 corpses of dead US troops and a
large number of wounded. Seven wrecked US military vehicles ミ five
Humvees, one tank and one armored vehicle ミ were also hauled away,
outside the occupied city.

A captain in the puppet Iraqi forces, who asked not to be identified,
told Mafkarat al-Islam that the night's battles left dozens of US
troops dead and wounded and numerous American military vehicles
destroyed.

Al-Fallujah's mosques on Tuesday morning eulogized three Iraqi
Resistance fighters who were martyred in the night's battles.

US forces received an unexpected and embarrassing blow at the hands of
the Resistance ミ a blow that knocked them off balance. In response,
the Americans on Tuesday closed the northern, eastern, and western
gates to the city and launched a campaign of searches of more than
1,000 homes in the city, particularly in the neighborhoods of an-Nazal
and al-Mu`allimin where fighting raged during the night.

US forces arrested a photographer working for the American Associated
Press (AP) because he photographed bloodstains of US soldiers that
continued to fill the streets of the city after their bodies had been
hauled away. At the time of writing that photographer was still in US
custody.

After the Resistance attack, Iraqi puppet troops and "national guards"
raised their alert level.

Mid-morning Tuesday found al-Fallujah a very tense city that at the
same time appeared to anticipate the outbreak of yet further battles.

In a dispatch posted at 6:26pm Mecca time Tuesday evening, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that a short while before, US propaganda mouthpieces
in the American headquarters set up in the area near the Republican
Palace in Baghdad ミ known to the invaders as the "green zone" ミ
admitted that two US troops had been killed and others wounded in
fighting Monday night in al-Fallujah.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam obtained a copy of US
communiqu No. 104 in which the US military claimed to have suppressed
the Resistance in only one hour.

Hit.

Fierce fighting breaks out in Hit midday Friday.

In a dispatch posted at 1:05pm Mecca time Tuesday, Mafkarat al-Islam
reported that a short while earlier, fierce fighting had broken out
between the Iraqi Resistance and US Marines in the city of Hit in
western Iraq. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city
reported residents as saying that more than 30 Iraqi Resistance
fighters attacked a US column that was stopped on the road that leads
to al-Qa'im where a major battle has been raging since Monday.

The correspondent reported that several American military vehicles had
been damaged or destroyed in the fighting and that the American forces
had violently responded to the Resistance attack.

Al-Hadithah.

Fighting breaks out between Resistance and US forces in al-Hadithah
Tuesday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 4:30pm Mecca time Tuesday afternoon, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that a short while before heavy fighting broke out
between Resistance fighters and US troops in the city of al-Hadithah,
350km west of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported that the
fighting was concentrated in the ash-Shurtah and al-Haqlaniyah areas
in the center and south of the city.

Witnesses estimated that 40 Iraqi Resistance fighters were at the time
of writing engaged in ferocious combat with US troops.

Resistance bombards US barracks south of al-Hadithah Tuesday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 5:30pm Mecca time, Mafkarat al-Islam reported
that a short while before, Iraqi Resistance forces fired six rockets
into Hadithah Middle School in the al-Haqlaniyah village south of
al-Hadithah, a building that US troops had taken over as a military
barracks.

A member of the puppet "rapid deployment force" told Mafkarat al-Islam
that the bombardment left 14 American soldiers dead and wounded others.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that US forces and
helicopters were evacuating corpses and wounded American soldiers.
Battle in al-Hadithah, meanwhile, continue to rage on.

Ar-Ramadi.

Puppet governor of al-Anbar Province abducted by Iraqi Resistance
fighters a week after he took office.

In a bulletin posted at 6:40pm Mecca time Tuesday evening, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that a short while before the puppet "governor" of
al-Anbar Province had been kidnapped only one week after he was
appointed to the post.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Anbar Province reported
that Resistance fighters abducted the puppet "governor" Raja Nawaf.
Resistance fighters abducted the puppet official along with a number
of puppet police, bodyguards, and aides after attacking their
motorcade as it was traveling along the ar-Ramadi ミ al-Qa'im highway.

Resistance bomb kills four US troops in ar-Ramadi early Tuesday
morning.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol as it passed through
the as-Sajariyah area in the northeast of the city of ar-Ramadi at 8am
local time Tuesday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam
reported Lieutenant `Uday Mahmud of the puppet forces as saying that
the blast destroyed an American Humvee and killed four US troops and
wounded another two, one of them mortally.

After the bombing US forces completely encircled the area and raided
several nearby houses.

For its part the Islamic Army in Iraq Resistance organization
announced its responsibility for the attack in a communiqu, a copy of
which the correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam obtained.

`Ar`ar.

Resistance bomb kills six US troops near Saudi border Tuesday.

In a dispatch posted at 7:55pm Mecca time Tuesday night, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, a high-explosive Iraqi
Resistance bomb blew up next to a US foot patrol in the `Ar`ar complex
area on the Saudi border.

A source in the puppet so-called "Iraqi border guard" told Mafkarat
al-Islam that the bomb was planted in the middle of the road and
concealed under a pile of rubbish near the complex for receiving
travelers crossing the border.

First Lieutenant Latif `Ali told Mafkarat al-Islam that the bomb
destroyed a large-size Humvee, killing six American troops.

After the blast US forces arrested two shepherds in the area, claiming
that they were somehow related to the attack.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the American
troops had ordered all the Bedouin who pitch their tents in the area
to leave. The order came as a form of punishment for their alleged
cooperation with what the American invaders call "terrorists," that is
to say, the Iraqi Resistance.

Baghdad.

Resistance bomb hits US patrol in Abu Ghurayb early Tuesday afternoon.

An Iraqi Resistance roadside bomb exploded by a patrol of four US
Humvees on a rural road in the al-Bu Munaysir area of Abu Ghurayb,
west of Baghdad. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the bomb,
which went off at 2pm local time, totally destroyed one Humvee and
killed all the US troops aboard it.

Bombs shake central Baghdad early Tuesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 9:15am Mecca time Tuesday morning, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded in
at-Tahrir Square early Tuesday. Al-Jazeera satellite TV reported that
the sound of ambulance sirens could be heard as they raced to the
scene of the attack. In a later report, it was said that eight people
were killed and another 23 wounded when a bomb exploded on Sa`dun
Street in downtown Baghdad.

Later, in a report posted at 11:45am Mecca time Tuesday morning,
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that sources in the puppet so-called "Iraqi
ministry of the interior" said that a car bomb exploded near the Babil
Hotel on Abu Nuwas Street. The sources said that the target of the
attack was the headquarters of the Iraqi puppet river police.

Journalist Walid `Adil told al-Jazeera satellite TV that this second
bombing in Baghdad Tuesday morning was a car bomb that targeted the
puppet river rescue force headquarters on Abu Nuwas street. He said
that a source in the puppet police said that three puppet policemen
were seriously wounded and that five private cars that were parked
near the police station and belonged to puppet policemen were
destroyed in the attack. The building itself was seriously damaged
and caught fire, burning much of it and the building opposite.

The result of the attacks was not terribly great, however, the sources
noted, since the street was largely empty of civilians at the time and
not many puppet police were on the scene either.

Ninwa Province.
Tall `Afar.

US abandons its siege of Tall `Afar.

US forces retreated Tuesday morning from around the environs of the
northern Iraqi city of Tall `Afar after a day during which the
Americans besieged the town, letting no one in or out.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in Tall `Afar reported that at
about 7am Tuesday morning, dozens of US military vehicles could be
seen pulling back from the city limits towards the US base west of the
city. The Americans left behind the leaflets that they had dropped
over the city threatening them with greater and much harsher
punishment if they continued to cooperate with what the invaders call
"terrorists" ミ meaning the Iraqi Resistance.

Al-Basrah Province.
Abu al-Khasib.

Puppet forces torch Sunni religious leader's home for second time in
three days.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that for the second
time in a few days the home of the imam of the Jallab Mosque in Abu
al-Khasib was set ablaze. Witnesses told the correspondent that two
days earlier the puppet so-called "Iraqi national guard" torched the
imam's dwelling and then arrested anyone who attempted to approach to
try to put out the blaze or take photographs.

One person who attempted to enter the burned residence on Monday was
arrested by the puppet forces, the correspondent reported.

The wave of official arson attacks on Sunni religious leaders comes as
the Shi`i chauvinist collaborator parties, now in power in Iraq under
the aegis of the US occupation, pursue a policy of terror against the
Sunni population in an effort aimed at sectarian "cleansing" of
southern Iraq.

Puppet forces raid Sunni pious endowment administration in al-Basrah.

In a dispatch posted at 10:20pm Mecca time Tuesday night, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that a short while earlier a patrol of the puppet
so-called "Iraqi internal affairs department" attempted to storm the
Sunni Waqf [pious endowments] administrative directorate for the
southern parts of Iraq at about 1pm local time midday Tuesday. The
attack was ostensibly to search for "terrorist figures" in the
directorate.

The puppet forces surrounded the directorate and the mosque adjacent
to it early on Tuesday. Guards in the facility prevented the puppet
patrol from getting into the directorate. The director of Sunni pious
endowments in al-Basrah, Dr. `Abd al-Karim Nasir al-Khazraji, went out
to negotiate with the commander of the puppet forces to allow him
alone to search the building for Resistance fighters.

The search yielded nothing of the sort used to justify the raid, yet
the puppet commander emerged from the directorate saying that it was a
"terrorist department" and demanded a list of the names of the
employees of the department. Officials in the department refused to
hand over any such list.

The attack was part of an attempt to pressure Sunnis resident in the
south of Iraq to leave. The other most recent act in that effort
being a raid by puppet forces on the al-`Umriyah Mosque at 12 midnight
Monday. The puppet troops kicked in mosque doors with their feet.
Four Sunni residential houses nearby were also raided by the puppet
troops. The puppet forces ransacked and robbed the houses they
"searched," beating and insulting the family members.

After that a committee from the Province of al-Basrah came out to meet
Sunni leaders regarding the raid on the mosque and that meeting
reportedly yielded some positive results, Mafkarat al-Islam reported,
noting however, that coming days would test how reliable the puppet
officials' promises to the Sunni population would prove to be.
