Al-Anbar Province.

Al-Hadithah.

Fierce fighting breaks out in al-Hadithah as US launches attack, after which Resistance withdraws to avoid unequal fight.

A violent battle broke out between Iraqi Resistance forces and US occupation troops backed up by Iraqi puppet soldiers at the northern approaches to the city of al-Hadithah and in the al-Haqlaniyah area. Resistance forces, numbering about 50 men, used medium and heavy weapons against the Americans and the US side called in Apache and Black Hawk helicopters to attack the Resistance from the air.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a Resistance commander on Wednesday morning as saying that the fighting lasted about three hours nonstop, from midnight until about 3am local time. He said that four US armored vehicles and one tank were destroyed and more than 14 US troops killed and dozens more wounded in the heavy mortar bombardment that the Resistance mounted against them after they withdrew.

For its part, the US military announced on Wednesday morning that the fighting left three Resistance fighters dead and several Americans wounded. The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent said, however, that local mosques announced mourning for six Iraqi Resistance fighters on Wednesday morning.

QudsPress, quoted “sources close to the Resistance” as saying that the Americans brought in fighter planes to attack the Resistance forcing them to withdraw from the city to avoid being caught up in a severely unequal battle.

Approximately 1,000 American troops were reported engaged in the operation against al-Hadithah, QudsPress reported. The US forces imposed a curfew on the city, closing schools and puppet government offices, as puppet so-called “Iraqi national guards” began storming into local houses.

Resistance commander martyred during fighting Tuesday-Wednesday night.

In a dispatch posted at 9:40am Mecca time Wednesday morning, the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam wrote that US occupation troops are present in parts of al-Hadithah in large numbers, while the Resistance fighters had disappeared in the early hours of the morning. The American CNN TV network said that the US was engaged in a new large-scale military operation called “the New Market” in al-Hadithah, where an American Marine commander was quoted as saying that there were “greater threats in al-Hadithah than there should be.”

In a dispatch posted at 11:20am Mecca time Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a Resistance commander had been killed in the fighting that took place during the night. A communiqu circulating in al-Hadithah said that Shaykh Isma‘il ‘Abdallah ‘Ashish, the imam and preacher of the Sayf al-Haqq Mosque was killed in the battles during the night. He was 71,

The communiqu said that all the fighters saw the Shaykh carrying an anti-tank RBKC rocket launcher running like a man of 20. The Shaykh took a direct hit in the chest that shattered his ribs. He was buried in the Martyrs’ Cemetery in the city.

The statement said that the Shaykh had been a well-known Resistance commander and one of the first to lead Resistance fighters from al-Anbar Province to support the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia of Shi‘i religious leader Muqtada as-Sadr in an-Najaf during the fighting in that city.

Ar-Ramadi.

Resistance car bomb blasts US column early Wednesday.

An Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a US military column in ar-Ramadi in western Iraq at 7am Wednesday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported a captain in the puppet military forces, who asked not to be identified, as saying that the car bomb exploded in the al-Mal‘ab area to the west of the city, disabling one US tank and destroying a Humvee. The source said that six US troops were killed and two more wounded.

After the attack, US troops encircled the area and arrested a number of homeowners in the area as well as the guard working for a local school located near the scene of the attack.

Resistance temporarily seizes important provincial government buildings in fierce fighting in ar-Ramadi Wednesday afternoon.

In a bulletin posted at 3:05pm Mecca time Wednesday afternoon, the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in ar-Ramadi reported that at that moment Iraqi Resistance forces were engaged in fierce fighting with US forces in the middle of the city, located 110km west of Baghdad.

Resistance forces were in control of the governorate office building and the puppet police headquarters in the city, after having launched a sweeping attack on the most important puppet regime centers in the province. For several months the Iraqi puppet army has used the puppet police headquarters as its own headquarters in the city. US forces at the time of writing were calling in helicopters to try to regain control of the situaion.

In a dispatch posted at 3:45pm Mecca time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Resistance was still in control of the puppet police headquarters in ar-Ramadi ミ a position they seized in fierce fighting with puppet police and puppet army troops. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Resistance had detained a number of the puppet troops inside the building.

The Resistance had also seized a quantity of heavy and light weapons inside the puppet police station. US Marines had still not been able to get back onto the street where the police headquarters is located, because Resistance sharpshooters had deployed on rooftops along the street.

US helicopters were at the time of writing prowling the skies above at very high altitude, for fear that Resistance fighters might shoot them down. The US aircraft have also refrained from rocketing the puppet police headquarters, apparently because of the large number of puppet police and puppet troops whom the Resistance has detained within the building.

In a dispatch posted at 7:59pm Mecca time Wednesday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had withdrawn from the headquarters of the Iraqi puppet police and puppet army in ar-Ramadi after Iraqi puppet police officers agreed to resign, leaving the US military and their stooge army to fight the Resistance in the city.

More than 30 members of the puppet so-called Wolf Brigade of the Iraqi puppet military were killed in the Resistance attack on the puppet headquarters in ar-Ramadi. After the Resistance fighters withdrew, US occupation forces found the bodies of numerous puppet troops who had been shot to death inside the building. After withdrawing from the building, Resistance fighters went into the narrow lanes of the old part of ar-Ramadi opposite the police headquarters and disappeared from sight.

The Resistance group Base Qa‘idah of the Jihad in the Land of the Two Rivers issued a communiqu, a copy of which was obtained by Mafkarat al-Islam, that said that the Resistance had seized 14 RPG7 rocket-propelled grenade launchers and a large number of machineguns and light weapons (Kalashnikov assault rifles) in their takeover of the building.

The communiqu said that five US troops were killed and one Humvee totally destroyed in the fighting.

For his part the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that after the withdrawal of Resistance forces, US troops closed the bridges and roads leading out of the city in an apparent attempt to trap the fighters in the city preparatory to a campaign of raids and searches ミ the sort of campaign that US forces regularly mount after a major attack.
