Al-Anbar Province.

Al-Hadithah.

Fighting erupts Thursday morning in al-Hadithah as Resistance continues to hold positions in face of US onslaught.

Fighting resumed in the area of al-Hadithah early Thursday between the Iraqi Resistance and about 1,000 US occupation troops with armored vehicles and air support, backed up by Iraqi puppet troops.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that combat resumed in the ad-Dawahir and as-Sabhan areas of the city at 9am local time Thursday morning when US occupation troops tried to storm the two areas and ran into armed resistance. The battles lasted for nearly an hour.

An officer in the Iraqi puppet forces who spoke to the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent said that two US armored vehicles and one tank were destroyed in the fighting and more than 10 US soldiers killed and others wounded. Three Iraqi Resistance fighters were killed.

Captain Walid Jum‘ah said that the fighting ended because the Resistance was able to prevent the Marines from advancing any further. The puppet officer said that the Resistance fighters continued to control several areas in and around the city, in particular in al-Haqlaniyah. US occupation troops and their Iraqi stooges were deployed, however, in various parts of the city and enjoy air cover from US helicopters, he noted.

Resistance shoots down US Apache helicopter Thursday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 4:45pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had shot down a US Apache helicopter a short time before over the ar-Rifa‘ area northeast of al-Hadithah. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the helicopter fired two rockets at a suspected Resistance position before being struck by a Resistance rocket that blew it up in the air and sending the wreckage crashing to earth.

At the time of reporting fire still blazed in the wreckage and two other American helicopters had come in and were circling around overhead to prevent Resistance fighters from approaching the crash site. The fate of the crew remained unknown.

Resistance bombards US forces occupying school in al-Hadithah Thursday afternoon.

In a bulletin posted at 5:35pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had attacked a group of US occupation troops in the al-Hadithah Technical Industrial Preparatory School.

As source in the Iraqi Resistance told Mafkarat al-Islam that US forces advanced to the middle of the city from the north and took over the school to use as their headquarters. “We targeted it with 16 mortar rounds,” the Resistance source said, “and killed and wounded a large number of them.”

A source in the puppet regime’s so-called “anti-terrorism” force said that more than 20 US soldiers were killed or wounded in the attack. A Chinook helicopter landed in the school yard behind the institution to evacuate the casualties.

Hit.

US deploys in Hit, imposes shot-on-sight curfew.

In a dispatch posted at 6:55pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops had deployed in the city of Hit in western Iraq on Thursday afternoon, supported by Apache and Black Hawk helicopters. Witnesses in the city told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Americans spread out in the middle of the city and raided and searched the tomb of the early Muslim figure ‘Abdallah ibn Mubarak.

The American occupation troops used loudspeakers to proclaim a curfew beginning at midnight and lasting until 6am during which time they threatened to kill anyone going outside.

US troops arrested more than 10 persons and charged them with what they call “terrorism” according to a communiqu issued by the US occupation forces, a copy of which was obtained by Mafkarat al-Islam.

Ar-Ramadi.

Resistance sharp shooter kills two US troops in ar-Ramadi Wednesday night.

An Iraqi Resistance sharp shooter perched atop a building shot and killed two US soldiers who were standing in the middle of a street in ar-Ramadi at about 8pm Wednesday night, local time. A source in the Iraqi puppet forces told Mafkarat al-Islam that the sharpshooter’s bullets struck the US soldiers in the head and neck, killing them.

Afterwards, US troops went up to the roof of the building but found nothing other than a rope from that building to another, vacant building which evidently is where the Resistance sharpshooter went after his attack.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance bomb targets US foot patrol in al-Fallujah.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US foot patrol in the al-Maqali‘area of the ash-Shuhada’ neighborhood in the far south of al-Fallujah. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam in the city that a high-explosive bomb had been planted under a pile of construction refuse on the road leading to al-Maqali‘. They said it went off as the American foot patrol was passing, killing six American troops and wounding more. US forces then encircled the whole area and imposed a curfew that was still in force when the correspondent filed his report, which was posted at 12:10pm Mecca time Thursday.

Al-Habbaniyah.

Resistance bombards US base in al-Habbaniyah at noon Thursday.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired seven medium-range Grad rockets into the US base in al-Habbaniyah at about 12 noon local time Thursday. Residents of the al-Falahat area near the US base told Mafkarat al-Islam that the bombardment set off powerful explosions inside the camp and sent plumes of smoke rising into the sky.

Baghdad.

Resistance ambushes US column heading towards besieged Abu Ghurayb.

In a dispatch posted at 11:14am Mecca time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters ambushed a column of US military vehicles that was on its way from Baghdad to Abu Ghurayb, 30km to the west ミ a town that the Americans have been surrounding and besieging for two days.

Witnesses told the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent that three bombs exploded under the American column as it proceeded along the Old Road to Abu Ghurayb. Taking advantage of the Americans’ shock and confusion, Resistance fighters then opened fire on the vehicles with pipe rockets, destroying four Humvees and disabling two more.

After the attack, the Resistance forces withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties, but leaving the four burning Humvees and two disabled ones in their wake. A source in the Iraqi puppet police said that the attack killed or wounded 21 Americans, all of whom were airlifted by helicopter to Saddam International Airport where the US has its main military base and hospital in occupied Iraq.

Resistance bomb targets US column in western Baghdad midday Thursday.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in the al-Ghazaliyah area of western Baghdad at 12 noon local time Thursday. Residents of al-Ghazaliyah who witnessed the attack told Mafkarat al-Islam that the bomb went off next to a patrol of four US Humvees on the highway at the western approaches to Baghdad, destroying one Humvee and killing four US troops.

Iraqi Resistance eliminates leading Shi‘i chauvinist Da‘wah Party collaborator.

Iraqi Resistance fighters stormed the home of the brother of Fakhri al-‘Amiri, a leading member of the Shi‘i chauvinist Da‘wah Party in the al-Qadisiyah neighborhood of Baghdad. The Resistance fighters locked up all those in the house in one room and then shot Fakhri al-‘Amiri to death, leaving the other family members alone.

Mafkarat al-Islam reported that puppet police sources told the Kuwaiti News Agency that an investigation into the attack, which took place at dawn on Thursday, revealed that al-‘Amiri was a candidate for a high position in the puppet so-called “Iraqi interior ministry and that he had come to Baghdad from an-Najaf on a visit for unknown reasons. After the attack the puppet police surrounded the home while they conducted their investigation.

US admits: three prisoners escape from Abu Ghurayb prison camp.

Three prisoners escaped from the notorious Abu Ghurayb prison camp outside Baghdad on Thursday, sneaking through two holes in the perimeter fence before dawn, the US military said, according to a Reuters dispatch.

“At approximately 5:50am (local time, i.e., 01:50 GMT), during a normal headcount, US forces discovered that three detainees were missing,” the American army said in a statement. “The quick-reaction force and all available guards responded and conducted a comprehensive search of the interior and exterior perimeter of Abu Ghurayb,” it said, but the escapees could not be found.

The Americans said that they had alerted their stooges in the Iraqi puppet security forces and puppet police.

Resistance kills puppet “industry ministry” official in Thursday ambush.

Iraqi Resistance forces shot and killed a high-ranking official in the puppet so-called “Iraqi ministry of industry and minerals” in an ambush in Baghdad on Thursday. Reuters reported that Resistance fighters in a speeding car opened fire on Thamir Ghaydan a general director in the puppet “ministry” in Baghdad’s al-Mustansiriyah district, killing him at about 4pm local time.

Puppet forces target Palestinians for arrest.

The puppet so-called “shock troops” of the puppet “interior ministry” arrested two Palestinian residents of Iraq after storming into an Iraqi apartment complex located near a Palestinian complex in eastern Baghdad’s al-Baladiyat area on Sunday.

QudsPress reported that the puppet “shock troops” raided the Iraqi housing complex and beat several Palestinian women before arresting Kamal Salim ‘Abdallah after hearing that he was a Palestinian. Diya’ Isma‘il ‘Abdallah was arrested while visiting his brother’s apartment.

QudsPress noted that hundreds of Palestinians resident in Iraq were being singled out by the puppet security services and the collaborationist “semi-official” militias on the grounds that they are supporters of the Iraqi Resistance.

College assistant dean assassinated.

Iraqi puppet police sources announced that unidentified armed men driving an Opel car opened fire on the car carrying the Assistant Dean of the College of Education in al-Mustansiriyah University in Baghdad on Thursday. The Kuwait News Agency reported that masked men shot and killed Musa Sallum al-Amir and three persons who were with him in the al-Bayya‘ district of Baghdad as they were leaving his home.

Over 100 Iraqi intellectuals and scientists have been assassinated since the US occupation of the country in spring 2003. The Mossad is often cited as being involved in such assassinations.

Babil Province.

Al-Hillah.

Resistance bombs hit joint Polish-Iraqi puppet patrol near al-Hillah.

Two Iraqi Resistance bombs exploded some 10 meters from a joint Polish-Iraqi puppet patrol west of the city of al-Hillah at 4pm local time Thursday. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the first bomb destroyed on Polish vehicle and killed four Polish troops aboard it. The second blast killed three Iraqi puppet troops.

After the attack, Polish occupation troops surrounded the entire area and called in helicopters as they began searches and raids throughout the nearby area in the course of which they arrested five local residents.

Ninwa Province.

Mosul.

Resistance kills puppet police chief in ash-Shuruqat Wednesday evening.

Iraqi Resistance forces killed Brigadier General Ahmad Husayn, the General Director of the puppet police in the city of ash-Shuruqat in the Mosul area on Wednesday night.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses in the city as saying that the Resistance fighters attacked the motorcade of the police chief with pipe rockets as he came out of his office after work Wednesday evening, on his way home. He and six of his bodyguards were killed instantly.

The Resistance group Base Qa‘idah of the Jihad in the Land of the Two Rivers claimed responsibility for the attack in a communiqu, distributed among several journalists and in local shops. For its part the Iraqi puppet so-called “ministry of the interior” admitted the attack occurred.

Tall ‘Afar.

Puppet troops raid Sunni mosques, hand them over to Shi‘ah.

Encouraged and supported by Iraqi puppet army troops Shi‘i chauvinists seized control of two Sunni mosques in the city of Tall ‘Afar Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that Iraqi puppet troops raided the al-Faruq Mosque and the al-‘Asharah al-Mubashsharun bi-al-Jannah Mosque in the city on the excuse that they were hiding places for Resistance fighters. After the raid, Shi‘i chauvinists were brought in and given possession of the mosques. The imams and preachers of the mosques were informed that the two buildings had now become Shi‘i property.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that after the takeover, the mosques remained closed and prayers had not been said in them. A patrol of Iraqi puppet soldiers stood guard outside each mosque.

Shi‘i Muslims account for about 20 percent of the population of Tall ‘Afar but the puppet so-called “Iraqi national guard” which is largely made up of Shi‘i chauvinist Badr Brigade gunmen, has been aggravating relations between the Sunni and Shi‘i communities as part of the US plan to split Iraq along sectarian and ethnic lines.

Indicative of the fact that the mosque seizure was part of a broader American policy of stirring up sectarian conflict, the seizure of the mosques comes after days of extensive meetings between the US military and Iraqi puppet forces in preparation for raids on Resistance fighters in Tall ‘Afar.

QudsPress, reported sources in the Mosul puppet police as saying that for several days the local security forces had been holding numerous meetings with the American military representatives in order to coordinate attacks on what the sources called “nests of gunmen” in Tall ‘Afar.

The source, which QudsPress said asked not to be identified, said that the puppet regime and the Americans had “precise” information on where Resistance fighters were in Tall ‘Afar and that the puppet troops and their American masters planned to strike them before they could “escape.”

QudsPress, meanwhile also quoted sources close to the Iraqi Resistance in Tall ‘Afar as saying that their units had begun withdrawing from Tall ‘Afar after the Americans and their Iraqi stooges began preparations for an offensive against them. The sources told QudsPress that the Resistance fighters had been gathering up their weapons and spiriting them out of the city in large-scale operations. Most of the Resistance fighters had also been pulled out, the sources disclosed.

Witnesses in Tall ‘Afar told QudsPress that for two days they had observed dozens of Resistance fighters leaving Tall ‘Afar and carrying their weapons with them as American troops began to mass on the outskirts of the city.
