Friday, 24 June 2005.

Al-Anbar Province.

Al-Qa’im.

Resistance pounds US troop concentrations near al-Qa’im Friday morning.

Iraqi Resistance forces mounted a violent bombardment of mortar rounds, Katyusha, and Grad rockets on concentrations of US troops west of al-Qa’im at 9am local time Friday morning, killing or wounding large numbers of US troops and destroying a number of military vehicles that were parked in the areas where the soldiers were gathered.

Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that six Apache helicopters landed in the stricken areas after the attack to haul away the bodies of the dead and wounded Americans. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that smoke and flames could be seen billowing out of seven US military vehicles and US units were observed trying to put them out. Ammunition in the vehicles could be heard exploding from a distance away.

‘Ar‘ar.

Resistance shoots down unmanned spy plane over Iraq-Saudi border.

Iraqi Resistance fighters shot down an unmanned US reconnaissance plane in the ‘Ar‘ar area on the Iraqi-Saudi frontier at dawn Friday morning.

Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that at 6am local time Friday, the Resistance shot down the spy plane that was surveying the border area trying to prevent Resistance fighters from crossing the frontier.

A source in the puppet so-called “Iraqi border guards” reported that the K2 airplane was shot down by Resistance anti-aircraft machinegun fire.

US forces deployed in strength in the border area to search for the Resistance fighters after recovering the wreckage of their spy plane nine kilometers from ‘Ar‘ar.

Ar-Ramadi.

US spy plane kills young Iraqi girl as she plants roadside bomb in ar-Ramadi Friday afternoon.

US occupation forces shot and killed a young Iraqi woman as she planted a bomb by the side of the road in the al-Bu Farraj area north of the city of ar-Ramadi, 110km west of Baghdad on Friday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at 3pm Friday afternoon, a woman was planting a medium-sized bomb by the side of the road in the area when a US spy plane observed her and fired a rocket at her, killing her and wounding three passers by.

An eyewitness who lives in the area told Mafkarat al-Islam that the martyr was a young local woman who was not married.

The girl’s body was taken to a local mosque and her funeral held in total secrecy for fear of an American attack on the funeral procession.

The correspondent noted that this was the third woman to die a martyr in the area in recent weeks following a fatwa (religious legal ruling) by religious leaders in al-Anbar Province that allowed women to go out and fight with the Iraqi Resistance against the occupation.

Al-Fallujah.

American military spokesman: third battle of al-Fallujah likely.

At a press conference in al-Fallujah on Friday ミ on the occasion of the publication of the first issue of a newspaper distributed in the city since the US occupation ミ a spokesman for the US occupation forces told the press that in recent weeks American forces had suffered many losses in al-Fallujah.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam who attended the press conference in the al-Fallujah Youth Center in the middle of town reported the US spokesman ミ whom he referred to as “Sam Daimon” ミ said that it is feared that the US military might be compelled to wage a third battle of al-Fallujah if the attacks continue to escalate.

Mafkarat al-Islam’s correspondent reported the American spokesman as saying that the Iraqi Resistance regards al-Fallujah as a symbol and that they were now trying to get in to mount attacks on the occupation in the city.

More than 100 personalities of al-Fallujah ミ tribal shaykhs, religious scholars, university professors and intellectuals were invited by the US occupation forces to attend the press conference and “celebration” on the occasion of the publication of the propaganda newspaper called “Democratic al-Fallujah,” but only nine persons showed up.

Car bomb blasts US troops in al-Fallujah Thursday night, killing six US Marines.

An Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by a US military column by Martyrs’ Square in the east of al-Fallujah on Thursday evening. An official source in the Iraqi puppet police told Mafkarat al-Islam that the blast left five US troops dead and one other seriously injured. The source said that the blast also destroyed a special kind of armored vehicle brought to Iraq just a few months ago called a “scorpion.”

After the blast, US occupation force closed roads leading to the area and sealed it off, after which they began to raid homes and shops there but found nothing.

The American Associated Press (AP) reported that a spokesman for the Pentagon said on Friday that an Iraqi Resistance martyrdom car bomber slammed into a US convoy in al-Fallujah on Thursday night, killing two Marines.

Bryan Whitman, the Pentagon mouthpiece, said that another four Marines were listed as “missing” after the bombing “pending positive” identification of scattered remains. The American statement said that 13 other Marines were wounded in the blast, including some women soldiers.

The AP reported that the Iraqi Resistance group Base Qa‘idah of the Jihad in the Land of the Two Rivers claimed responsibility for the attack in a communiqu published on an Islamic website. The AP said that the organization listed “six Crusaders” as having been killed in the car bombing.

The AP also reported Friday that US occupation authorities in al-Fallujah arrested AP Television News cameraman ‘Amir ‘Ali who “went to the scene at midday Friday, and his video showed black scorch marks along a road and scattered chunks of metal. Video he shot Thursday showed thick plumes of black smoke rising from the blast.”

Baghdad.

Eight US troops reported killed in Friday morning martyrdom bombing in Abu Ghurayb.

In a dispatch posted at 10:55am Friday morning Mecca time Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier an Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove a white Opel station wagon packed with explosives into a US military column in the as-Samilat area in the north of Abu Ghurayb.

Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Resistance martydom fighter broke into a patrol of six American armored vehicles in the al-Basatin (Gardens) area of as-Samilat, destroying two Humvees and killing all aboard them.

After the attack, American forces cut the roads to the area and surrounded it, imposing a curfew there. Two US helicopters were called in to haul away the corpses of the dead Americans.

A source in the Iraqi puppet military asserted that the number of American troops killed in the attack was only five, but eyewitnesses insisted that all eight US soldiers in the vehicles perished in the bomb attack. The fact that the Americans called in two helicopters to haul away the dead, since the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported, each helicopter carries only five bodies.

US occupation forces shoot and kill Iraqi reporter working for American TV.

US occupation troops shot and killed an Iraqi reporter who was working for an American news organization in Baghdad on Friday. The American Associated Press (AP) reported witnesses as saying that the Americans shot the correspondent when he did not respond to a shouted signal from a military convoy. The AP added that the US military occupation authorities had no comment.

Salah ad-Din Province.

Samarra’.

Resistance ambushes US supply convoy east of Samarra’ midday Friday; 19 US troops reported killed.

In a bulletin posted at 1pm Mecca time Friday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had ambushed US troops in the ad-Dahhamiyah area east of Samarra’ at 1pm local time Friday.

The Samarra’ correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet so-called “rapid deployment forces” as saying that more than 10 Iraqi Resistance fighters armed with RPG7 rocket-propelled grenades had attacked a US supply convoy on the main road in the area, completely destroying two Humvees and also destroying three trucks loaded with food supplies ミ canned and dry foods.

The source, who refused to reveal his name, he said, for fear of being targeted by the Resistance revealed that 19 US soldiers were killed in the attack. He also claimed that seven Resistance fighters perished in the fighting along with three civilians.

An Iraqi Resistance commander denied those claims of the puppet soldier, saying that three Resistance fighters were martyred in the battle and one other wounded, but his condition was stable. The Resistance commander said that one civilian had been struck and killed when American troops opened fire indiscriminately around the area where the attack was taking place.

The Americans rushed reinforcements on vehicles and helicopters to the scene, encircling it completely. They then evacuated their dead and hauled away the wreckage of the armored vehicle but left the charred supply trucks in the middle of the road.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent managed to take pictures of the wrecked trucks, noting that the license plates indicate that the vehicles were Kuwaiti. This is typical, he explained, since the Americans bring in supplies to their occupation troops in Iraq over land in trucks from Kuwait.

A photograph of one of the burned out trucks can be seen at: http://www.islammemo.cc/news/one_news.asp?IDnews=70297

At-Tarimiyah.

Resistance bomb leaves two US troops dead Friday afternoon.

An Iraqi Resistance roadside bomb exploded by a US patrol in at-Tarimiyah, 20km north of Baghdad at 4pm local time Friday afternoon.

Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the blast disabled one US Humvee and killed two American soldiers. Two other US troops were wounded in the blast, one of them believed fatally injured, since the force of the explosion threw him out of the vehicle and onto the ground, breaking his neck and ribs, according to Major Jawad Marhun of the Iraqi puppet army. Major Marhun confirmed that two Americans were killed instantly by the explosion.

US forces closed the roads leading to the area and sealed it off. A helicopter was summoned to evacuate the wounded and the bodies of the dead.

In a dispatch posted at 12:42pm GMT, Quds Press reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded near a joint US-Iraqi puppet check point in at-Tarimiyah, disabling an American vehicle and killing one US soldier and wounding three others, according to a source in the local puppet police. US forces sealed off the area and a helicopter arrived to evacuate the dead and wounded.

Babil Province.

Al-Mahmudiyah.

Resistance blasts US base north of al-Mahmudiyah Friday afternoon.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired 11 rockets, believed to be of the Katyusha type, into the US base north of al-Mahmudiyah (which lies southwest of Baghdad at 5pm Friday afternoon local time, according to witnesses who spoke to Mafkarat al-Islam..

A colonel in the Iraqi puppet army told Mafkarat al-Islam that the attack left 18 American soldiers dead or wounded and inflicted severe damage on the buildings in the base known as the “Meat Base” because it occupies a former meat storage company facility.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent observed thick clouds of smoke billowing up over the American-occupied facility after the barrage.

Diyala Province.

Ba‘qubah.

US forces surround Sunni mosque, prevent worshippers from attending Friday prayers.

In a dispatch posted at 12:30pm Mecca time Friday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while before, US occupation troops had surrounded the Sunni al-Yamamah Mosque in the western part of the city of Ba‘qubah, east of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported that although US troops had not stormed into the mosque, they had locked the outer gates of the building and were preventing worshippers from getting in. The Americans also arrested a number of those coming to attend the Friday prayers.

The correspondent reported that more than 50 US troops together with a number of Iraqi puppet soldiers were surrounding the mosque. The Iraqi puppet troops, most of them drawn from Shi‘i chauvinist collaborationist militias, mocked and laughed at the Sunnis coming to the mosque for Friday prayers and threw rocks and empty bottles at them.

Meanwhile, other US troops cut off the electricity to the loudspeakers on mosque’s minaret to prevent the voice of a religious leader reading the Qur’an from being heard outside the American cordon around the place of worship.

At the time of reporting, the correspondent wrote that the Resistance might be awaiting an appropriate time to stage an attack on the Americans and their Iraqi stooges.

Ninwa Province.

Mosul.

Resistance bomb kills seven US troops snooping on mosque in Mosul.

In a dispatch posted at 2:10pm Mecca time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance land mine exploded by the back door of the ‘Abdallah ibn Umm Maktum Mosque located in the middle of the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

The mine exploded as US troops were surrounding the mosque during Friday prayers ミ a routine practice by American occupation forces, who deploy around Sunni mosques throughout occupied Iraq to monitor sermons on Friday and to rush in and arrest Imams and worshippers if they hear anything that sounds like a call to resist the invaders.

The Mosul correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that the explosion was powerful and threw two of the American troops behind the wall of the mosque. At least seven US troops were killed and two more wounded by the blast.

US troops surrounding the mosque stormed inside after the blast and detained the worshippers as they searched in vain for the remote control device that set off the explosive. At the time of reporting, the worshippers were still being detained in the mosque and had not been allowed to perform the prayer service.

Resistance bomb blasts US patrol in Mosul on Friday afternoon.

An Iraqi Resistance roadside bomb exploded by a US patrol passing through the al-Muthanna neighborhood of Mosul on Friday. In a dispatch posted at 12:42pm GMT, Quds Press reported that the blast disabled an American Humvee and inflicted casualties among the Americans riding aboard it. Quds Press reported that an exact count of the casualties was unavailable because US forces cordoned off the area immediately after the blast.

Maysan Province.

As-Samawah.

Resistance bombards base of Japanese occupation troops in as-Samawah Friday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 6:15pm Mecca time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired six mortar rounds ミ believed to be 82mm shells ミ into the Japanese occupation base in the southern Iraqi city of as-Samawah.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city reported that the barrage sent plumes of smoke rising over various parts of the Japanese-occupied facility. At the time of reporting, sirens could be heard wailing within the base and US helicopters had come in and were hovering over the area.
