YULE / WINTER SOLSTICE
(around DECEMBER 22nd) also known as: Yuletide, Alban Arthan.
Yule is the time of greatest darkness and the longest night of the year. The Winter Solstice had been associated with the birth of a "Divine King" long before the rise of Christianity. Since the Sun is considered to represent the Male Divinity in many Pagan Traditions, this time is celebrated as the "return of the Sun God" where He is reborn of the Goddess

Yule, Geol, Yole, Jiuleis, Juul, Feailley Geul was typically a twelve-day festivity around the time of the winter solstice, its practice spans back through time, it is mentioned in the epic poem, Beowulf, written around 1000, from oral tradition. Although there is some etymological dispute as to the specific root from which Yule springs forth, there seem to be some common themes in current thought.
