Twenty-one Iraqi children killed in US air strike Sunday afternoon.

In a bulletin posted at 7pm Sunday evening Mecca time, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that 25 Iraqis, most of them children, had been killed just a short while earlier when US aircraft bombed a gathering of men and boys around a US armored vehicle that had been blown up by a bomb in the al-Bu Fahd area east of ar-Ramadi.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported a medical source as saying that 25 people were killed in the American attack, 21 of them children. Nine other people who had been among those crowded around the wreckage of the American vehicle were wounded.

The American armored vehicle ha been blown up by an Iraqi Resistance bomb and local people and children regularly gather around the wreckage of such vehicles after US forces leave the area following the attack.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent at the scene of the American attack said that local people were still searching for the remains of their children that where mixed with other remains scattered around the area of the attack.

Al-Fallujah.

US forces pull out of major base west of al-Fallujah midday Sunday.

In a bulletin posted at 12:15pm Mecca time Sunday, the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Habbaniyah reported that a short while before, US forces had withdrawn from one of their largest bases in the closed-off area west of al-Fallujah.

The correspondent confirmed that dozens of US armored vehicles and digging equipment as well as giant trucks loaded with the wreckage of American vehicles destroyed in earlier fighting were pulling out of the camp at the time of writing, heading east towards al-Fallujah on their way to Baghdad, apparently. The convoys are under intensive air cover as fighter planes and helicopters prowl the skies above in an effort to prevent any Resistance attacks on the moving columns.

Two US troops reported killed in land mine explosion early Sunday.

An Iraqi Resistance land mine exploded under a US foot patrol near the al-Anbiya’ Mosque in the southern part of al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad at dawn on Sunday.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported a source in the al-Fallujah puppet police as saying that two US troops were killed and a third wounded in the landmine explosion. The mine, according to the source, was a homemade device that had been planted by the side of the road.

After the blast, US forces surrounded the area and evacuated the dead. The correspondent said that moving the wounded man was difficult because of the severity of his injuries. He had broken ribs and a broken neck and a helicopter had to be called in to evacuate him.

Baghdad.

Resistance car bomber blasts US checkpoint on suspension bridge to “green zone.”

In a bulletin posted at 5:15pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a checkpoint at the middle of the suspension bridge at the entrance to the Republican Palace area in Baghdad ﾐ known to the US occupation forces as the “green zone” where the headquarters of the US occupation regime, the US and British embassies and the Iraqi puppet regime headquarters are located. The attack took place at 12 noon local time Sunday.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported eye-witnesses near the scene of the attack as saying that one US vehicle was totally destroyed in the attack and a number of American soldiers were killed or wounded.

Afterwards, US troops surrounded the whole area on the bridge and a helicopter landed at the bridge entrance in an apparent effort to evacuate the wounded to the US military hospital in the “green zone.”

The correspondent noted that this was the first time that a Resistance attacker had been able to reach the center of the bridge to the “green zone,” all earlier attacks having taken place at the entrance to the bridge. The bridge is regarded as a gate to the “green zone” and is the route specially used for commanders and Iraqi puppet officials.

Two US troops believed killed in Resistance ambush south of Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 4:10pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, that an Iraqi Resistance attack had destroyed an American minesweeper vehicle in the Hur Rajab area south of Baghdad.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reporting from the scene said that a powerful Iraqi Resistance landmine had exploded under the American mine sweeper and then Resistance fighters followed up by firing four shoulder-launched rockets at the vehicle, totally destroying it.

Witnesses told the correspondent that one Resistance attacker was killed in the battle, when US troops in a vehicle that was following the mine sweeper fired back at the Resistance attackers. One other Resistance fighter was wounded before the Resistance men pulled out, carrying the wounded man with them.

At the time of writing, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent said that US military vehicles had surrounded the scene of the attack and were carrying out house-to-house raids and searches in the area looking for the attackers or at least the wounded fighter.

Official sources in the Iraqi puppet police told Mafkarat al-Islam that all those who had been aboard the mine-sweeper ﾐ usually it has a crew of two ﾐ were killed in the attack.

Powerful blasts shake “green zone” Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 12:35pm Mecca time Sunday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that four powerful explosions shook the area around the Republican Palace in Baghdad ﾐ known to the US occupation forces as the “green zone” where the headquarters of the US occupation regime, the US and British embassies and the Iraqi puppet regime headquarters are located.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that clouds of smoke could be seen rising over two positions near each other inside the “green zone” as four helicopters, one of them emblazoned with the Red Cross, landed in the area.

Quds Press reported that the explosions came just two hours after the automobile curfew was lifted. A security source inside the “green zone” told Quds Press that three Resistance rockets blasted the zone. Two of the rockets, targeted on the US embassy, sent up clouds of black smoke, Quds Press said.

Iraqi Resistance sharpshooter kills Iraqi puppet army soldier Sunday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance marksman shot and killed an Iraqi puppet army soldier as he manned a checkpoint in the city of Samarra’ on Sunday morning.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported a medical source as saying tat the Iraqi puppet army soldier was hit in the head and killed instantly.

Babil Province.

Al-Hillah.

US forces open fire on vehicle, mistakenly killing 16 of their Badr Brigade allies.

In a dispatch posted at 1:45pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops had opened fire on a vehicle carrying Badr Brigade militiamen, allied with the Americans, on the road to al-Musayyib Sunday, killing 16 of them.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in al-Hillah reported a source in the Iraqi puppet police as saying that a van full of Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigade militiamen was heading towards al-Musayyib when a column of US forces opened fire on the vehicle.

The source said that the Badr Brigade members did not believe that the Americans would shoot at them since their van had Iraqi puppet police license plates on it and was the color of puppet police vehicles. (The Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigades have come to constitute the main force within the Iraqi puppet police forces since the Brigades joined the American military in the invasion of Iraq in the spring of 2003.)

The US column nevertheless opened fire on the vehicle as it approached them, because it is forbidden to approach any closer than 300 meters from any American column. The Badr Brigade vehicle crossed that line, so the Americans opened fire.

Local witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that after the shooting, the Americans walked over to investigate the van andd then left the bodies of their dead Badr Brigade allies in the vehicle. A source in the Iraqi puppet police confirmed that the identification on the bodies showed them to have been members of the Badr Brigades.

Ninwa Province.

Mosul.

Four US troops reported killed by Resistance car bomber Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 12:40pm Mecca time Sunday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a US column in the east of Mosul Sunday.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in Mosul reported a captain in the Iraqi puppet army at the scene of the attack as saying that the blast killed four US soldiers and wounded two more.

The wreckage of a Humvee was scattered around the scene, the correspondent wrote, but taking pictures was strictly forbidden by the US occupation troops.

Eyewitnesses on the scene told Mafkarat al-Islam that they had seen a red Kia car driving around very slowly in the area between the hours of 8am and 10am Sunday morning. Then when one of the American patrols appeared in the area, he drove into them. The Americans opened fire on the Kia as it approached but were unable to stop the deadly blast.

Religious minority communities in Ninwa Valley cast unanimous “no” vote on US-backed “Constitution.”

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul reported that the religious minorities inhabiting the Ninwa Valley ﾐ Chaldaean Assyrians, Mandean Sabaeans, and Yazidis, voted in the American-backed referendum on the US-sponsored “Constitution” on Saturday and turned it down.

The correspondent reported Shaykh ‘Abd ar-Rabb a religious leader of the Mandean Sabaeans, as saying that the members of his religious sect all voted no to the American-sponsored “Constitution,” saying that it was close to the Iranian constitution and it contradicted the unity of Iraq. He said his community therefore joined the Sunni Muslims in rejecting it.

Shaykh ‘Abd ar-Rabb said that the proportion of members of the three minority sects in the Ninwa Valley who took part in the voting was 100 percent and that all of them voted “No.”

Mafkarat al-Islam reported that there are three old minority religious groups who live in the Ninwa Valley and number in total about 300,000 people ﾐ the Sabaeans who follow the Prophet John the Baptist and have a holy book known as al-Kanzarba; the Yazidis who are said to worship the Devil, and the Assyrians whose history goes back to Babylonian times.
