Al-Anbar Province.

Al-Habbaniyah.

Two US troops reported killed in morning bombing east of al-Habbaniyah Monday.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military patrol on the main road in the al-Mafraq (Junction) area east of al-Habbaniyah at 6:30am local time Monday morning.

The Mafakrat al-Islam correspondent reported a source in the Iraqi puppet army in al-Habbaniyah as saying that a Resistance bomb that had been planted by the side of the road blew up, disabling one of the Humvees in the American patrol and killing two US troops and wounding two other American soldiers.

Ar-Ramadi.

Resistance mounts repeated attacks on US patrols Monday as anger overflowed following American air raids that decimated civilian population.

Iraqi Resistance forces mounted repeated attacks on US patrols in ar-Ramadi on Monday. Quds Press reported that Iraqi Resistance bombs blasted US patrols on 20 Street and al-Mal‘ab (“Playing Field”) Street in the city.

A detachment of Iraqi Resistance fighters ambushed a US patrol on a road west of the city, destroying one of their vehicles and wounding a number of US troops.

The Quds Press correspondent reported that a mood of rage pervades ar-Ramadi following the deadly airraids that targeted civilians in and around the city on Sunday and earlier Monday. US forces claimed that their attacks left some 70 Iraqi Resistance fighters dead, an assertion sharply denied by residents of ar-Ramadi to Quds Press. Local people emphasized to the correspondent that the US aircraft targeted residences and civilians, not fighters in their bloody raids.

Health Department: 39 civilians killed, 54 wounded in US bombing on Sunday.

The al-Anbar Provincial Health Department issued a press release on Monday saying that the number of those killed in US bombing of the city or ar-Ramadi on Sunday totaled 39 civilians, of them 21 children and 5 women. The remainder of those killed were men, some of them of advanced years.

The ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported the al-Anbar Health Department as saying that 54 wounded people were pulled from ruins, most of them in critical condition. Many of them are also women and children too. Dr. Khamis al-Fahdawi, the General Director for Citizens’ Health called on people to donate blood and bandages because the local hospital was suffering from a shortage of both.

Meanwhile, minarets in the city on Monday also called on the public to donate blood for the survivors of the American air raids, as relatives of the victims buried their loved ones in various cemeteries in the city.

Quds Press reported Monday that medical sources in al-Anbar Province reported that nearly 50 Iraqi civilians had been killed in US air raids on various villages throughout the province beginning Sunday and into Monday morning. Air strikes on the village of al-Bu Farraj alone had killed or wounded dozens the sources said.

In one attack on Sunday US aircraft killed 25 Iraqi men and boys when it blasted them from the air as they gathered around a wrecked US vehicle that had been hit in an earlier Resistance attack (See “Twenty-one Iraqi children killed in US air strike Sunday afternoon,” in Iraqi Resistance Report: Sunday, 16 October 2005). Then an American Cobra helicopter bombarded a number of houses in nearby villages.

Fierce fighting Sunday night in ar-Ramadi.

In a bulletin posted at 10:20pm Sunday night Mecca time, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had mounted an intense rocket attack followed by fierce fighting with US occupation forces in the middle of ar-Ramadi, some 110km west of Baghdad.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in the city reported that several Grad rockets struck the Provincial Government offices. At the time of reporting, columns of smoke were rising from the middle of the street, apparently from a wrecked American military vehicle.

Anti-aircraft machinegun fire was also going off, as Resistance fighters targeted US helicopter gunships prowling the skies above the city.

Later the US military admitted that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had killed five American Marines in ar-Ramadi. Other than saying that the dead Marines belonged to the 2nd Marine Division, the US military failed to provide any further details on the deaths.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a joint US-Iraqi puppet army patrol in the al-‘Askari neighborhood of eastern al-Fallujah at 5am local time Monday morning. That blast was followed by another bombing of an American patrol in the middle of the city.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in al-Fallujah reported local residents who witnessed the attacks as saying that the first bomb had been planted by the side of a side street north of the neighborhood that leads to one of the camps jointly occupied by US and Iraqi puppet military personnel. The bomb went off by a patrol as it drove past, destroying one o the Iraqi puppet army vehicles and killing one Iraqi soldier and wounding three more.

The second bomb exploded five minutes later as a US patrol was passing along the main road in the center of the city on its way to the scene of the first blast. The second bomb disabled one of the American Humvees and wounded the members of its four-man crew.

Afterwards, the tanks, which were manufactured in Poland and Yugoslavia, were refurbished and painted in sand color. The US government paid for the upgrade of the tanks for the regime that Washington had installed in Baghdad. The director of the firm undertaking the refurbishment of the tanks announced that his company had received US2.5 million for the job.

Al-Qa‘idah bombards Iraqi puppet army base Sunday afternoon.

Fighters belonging to the al-Qa‘idah Organization in the Land of the Two Rivers mounted a mortar attack on an Iraqi puppet army camp in western Baghdad’s al-‘Amiriyah area at about 4:30pm local time Sunday afternoon.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in Baghdad reported four mortar rounds were fired at the puppet army camp, two of which landed outside the compound and two of which struck home. The other stray mortar rounds blasted into a street and caused no casualties.

Three of the shells blasted into the interior of the headquarters sending up plumes of smoke.
