Al-Anbar Province.

Al-Qa’im.

US bombardment of al-‘Ubayd kills 24 local residents Tuesday afternoon. Bodies laid out on yard of local mosque because hospital morgue is full.

In a dispatch posted at 4:50pm Mecca time Tuesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while before the US military had bombarded houses in the town of al-‘Ubaydi, some 35km northwest of al-Qa’im near the border with Syria in western Iraq.

Al-Qa’im General Hospital announced later in the evening that the number of those killed in the US attack had risen from an initial estimate of 20 to a total of 24, according to a bulletin posted by Mafkarat al-Islam at 7:05pm Mecca time Tuesday evening.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in al-‘Ubaydi reported that 24 bodies had been recovered from the rubble. These were nine children; five women; and 10 men, three of them elderly.

The correspondent reported that the US military had announced that their attack was targeted on what they called a “hiding place” for members of the al-Qa‘idah organization. The statement issued by al-Qa’im General Hospital said, however, that the attack targeted houses of local residents.

At the time of reporting, the victims’ bodies were being laid out in the yard of a local mosque because the morgue in the hospital was already full. It was expected that the dead would be buried on Wednesday.

US admits three American soldiers killed in al-‘Ubaydi.

Al-Jazeera satellite TV reported Tuesday that the US military had announced that a US soldier had died on Monday of wounds received in a bomb explosion in the town of al-‘Ubaydi, and a second American announcement said that a second American soldier had been killed in a bombing in the same town. Then a third American statement said that a third American soldier had been killed in an armed Resistance attack also in al-‘Ubaydi.

All the Americans belonged to the same unit, al-Jazeera reported.

Ar-Ramadi.

Fierce fighting reported in ar-Ramadi.

Fierce fighting broke out at midday Tuesday between US occupation troops and Iraqi Resistance fighters in ar-Ramadi, some 110km west of Baghdad.

Eyewitnesses told the correspondent for Quds Press that a group of Resistance fighters attacked a US patrol in the middle of town at midday Tuesday. The attack sparked a fierce battle that raged for nearly an hour. The witnesses said that one American Humvee was disabled in the course of the fighting, but did not know what the casualty toll amounted to, because US forces closed off the main road leading to the area for about two hours after the clash. The Americans then left the scene.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance bomb blasts US patrol Tuesday night in al-Fallujah.

In a dispatch posted at 9:25pm Mecca time Tuesday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded a short while earlier by a US patrol in the as-Sadd Street area in the south of al-Fallujah.

The Mafakarat al-Islam correspondent reported that US forces surrounded the whole area and fired warning shots to keep local people from gathering around the scene.

The blast was the third such Resistance attack on US forces in central and southern al-Fallujah on Tuesday, the correspondent reported.

Resistance bomb blasts Iraqi puppet army patrol Tuesday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 3:30pm Mecca time Tuesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by an Iraqi puppet army foot patrol on the road to the joint US-Iraqi puppet army base in northeast al-Fallujah.

The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of the al-Jaghifi neighborhood of the northeastern part of the city as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road to the camp blew up as a foot patrol was walking past. The blast killed two Iraqi puppet soldiers and wounded three more of them.

Resistance bomb blasts puppet army troops in al-Karmah.

In a dispatch posted at 11:20am Mecca time Tuesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a joint US-Iraqi puppet army patrol on the main road in the al-Karmah area, east of al-Fallujah.

The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of al-Karmah who witnessed the bombing as saying that an explosive device that had been planted by the side of the main road in al-Karmah blew up as the joint patrol passed by.

The explosion set one of the Iraqi puppet army vehicles ablaze, killing two Iraqi puppet army troops and wounding two more of them.

Al-Habbaniyah.

Resistance bomb blasts US column following raids and arrests early Tuesday morning.

US occupation forces carried out a campaign of raids and arrests in the al-Jazirah area north of al-Habbaniyah, some 20km from al-Fallujah in western Iraq at 8am local time Tuesday morning.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in the area reported eyewitnesses living in al-Jazirah as saying that US troops surrounded their area at 5am and began raiding and searching most of the houses in the area. The Americans arrested 40 people, most of them college students, employees, and religious scholars.

After the end of the raids and arrests, a Resistance bomb exploded by one of the American vehicles as it was leaving the al-Jazirah area. The blast killed or wounded three US troops, causing them to go back into al-Jazirah where they arrested another eight people.

Baghdad.

Three explosions rock “Green Zone” late Tuesday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 5:20pm Mecca time Tuesday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while before three powerful explosions had rocked the area around the Republican Palace in downtown Baghdad ミ the part of the city dubbed the “Green Zone” by the US, where the Americans have set up the headquarters of their occupation regime in Iraq.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in the area reported that a pillar of smoke rose into the sky over the area and sentries in watchtowers could be seen going on alert. The main gate to the “Green Zone” was also closed. The correspondent reported not being able to ascertain the source of the explosions, nor could he obtain any information on the nature or extent of casualties.

Resistance bomb blasts US column north of Baghdad Tuesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11:15am Mecca time Tuesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a US military column of four Humvees and several trucks loaded with military equipment on the main road in the northern Baghdad suburb of at-Taji.

The at-Taji correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road to ar-Rashidiyah blew up by the passing American convoy, destroying one Humvee and wounding four US troops aboard it, two of them severely.

Resistance ambushes US patrol south of Baghdad Tuesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 10:20am Mecca time Tuesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had attacked a patrol of six Humvees near Hur Rajab on the road to the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported residents of ad-Durah as saying that Resistance fighters attacked the American column after a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road blew up next to them. The witnesses said hat the blast disabled oen of the Humvees and then the Resistance attackers opened fire with light and medium weapons and rocket launchers, destroying another Humvee and killing or wounding six American troops.

Resistance bomb blasts Iraqi puppet troops early Tuesday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a joint US-Iraqi puppet army patrol in the al-Wahdah neighborhood to the east of Baghdad at 7:30am local time Tuesday morning.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in Baghdad reported residents of al-Wahdah as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the main road blew up as a joint patrol of three vehicles belonging tot eh Iraqi puppet army and two US Humvees passed by.

The witnesses said that the explosion disabled one of the Iraqi vehicles and two Humvees, killing one Iraqi puppet army soldier and wounding three more of them.

Car bomb targets puppet police in Baghdad’s al-Mashtal neighborhood.

Al-Jazeera satellite TV reported that a car bomb exploded near a restaurant frequented by puppet policemen in the al-Mashtal neighborhood of Baghdad, killing two policemen and wounding six other police and one civilian. The blast also destroyed three puppet police vehicles and damaged nine civilian cars.

Salah ad-Din Province.

Samarra’.

Resistance bombards US headquarters in Samarra’.

In a dispatch posted at 11:40am Mecca time Tuesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had fired four 82mm mortar rounds into the US military headquarters in the as-Sikak (Railroad) neighborhood in the middle of Samarra’, north of Baghdad.

The local correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eye witnesses in the neighborhood as saying that the US headquarters received four direct hits from the incoming Resistance mortar hells, sending plumes of smoke rising into the sky.

At-Tarimiyah.

Four Iraqi puppet army troops killed, three captured in Tuesday morning double bombing.

Two Iraqi Resistance bombs that had been planted by the side of the main road in the town of at-Tarimiyah, north of Baghdad, exploded by an Iraqi puppet “Interior Ministry Wolf Brigade” patrol Tuesday morning.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in at-Tarimiyah reported eyewitnesses as saying that the two explosions destroyed one Nissan vehicle in the patrol and disabled a second, killing four of the Wolf Brigade troops. The Resistance fighters took three other Wolf Brigade men prisoner, one of them wounded from the blast, driving them away in three separate cars.

An officer in the Iraqi puppet army told Mafkarat al-Islam hat there had indeed been an attack in which four Wolf Brigade regime soldiers had been killed, but did not confirm the capture of three more, saying that they actually did not know how many men went out on the patrol, but adding that they would contact the commander of the group to check up on the report of captures as told by local witnesses.

Diyala Province.

Ba‘qubah.

Protestors demand release of prisoners.

Hundreds of Iraqis took to the streets of Ba‘qubah, northeast of Baghdad, Tuesday to demonstrate against the waves of raids and arrests to which they have been subjected by the US occupation forces and the various puppet security services and militias allied with them.

Al-Jazeera satellite TV reported that the protestors demanded the immediate release of 370 local residents who were arrested on Saturday by the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops.”

At-Ta’mim Province.

Al-Hawijah.

US forces mount raids searches in al-Hawijah, arresting 14 people, finding a disputed qantity of arms.

US forces encircled and sealed off the city of al-Hawijah, northeast of Tikrit at dawn on Tuesday, closing the roads to and from the city and raiding and searching more than 24 houses and 30 commercial shops in a sweep that lasted until 2pm local time Tuesday afternoon.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that the Americans arrested 14 local residents and uncovered a large cache of various types of weapons. A source in the Iraqi puppet police told Mafkarat al-Islam that US Marines found the cache of weapons in a city park. The puppet police claimed that the stockpile consisted of 10 Kalashnikov assault rifles, two sniper rifles, 20 mortar rounds, 19 Grad and Katyusha rockets, and 22 remote control detonators.

But witnesses told the correspondent that the police figures were incorrect and that the number of guns found was just five or fewer. The witnesses noted that one Humvee carried away all the weapons in one trip indicating that the quantity of arms seized was not particularly large.

Kirkuk.

Two US troops reported killed in bombing southwest of Kirkuk.

In a dispatch posted at 10am Mecca time Tuesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a US military column near ar-Riyad on the road to Bayji, southwest of Kirkuk.

The Kirkuk correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of ar-Riyad as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road to Bayji blew up as a patrol of several American Humvees drove past. The explosion disabled one of the Humvees, killing two US troops and wounding two more of them, the witnesses reported.

Seven Iraqi puppet police killed in Resistance attacks in Kirkuk.

Three Iraqi Resistance bombs exploded in the city of Kirkuk, al-Jazeera satellite TV reported on Tuesday. The blasts killed three Iraqi puppet policemen and wounded three more of them.

The bombings came shortly after four puppet “Emergency Policemen” were killed when Resistance fighters ambushed their patrol in the eastern part of Kirkuk, al-Jazeera added.

Ninwa Province.

Mosul.

Resistance bombards US al-Ghazlani Base in Mosul Tuesday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 7pm Mecca time Tuesday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters had mounted a mortar barrage on the southern part of the US al-Ghazlani Base in Mosul in northern Iraq Tuesday afernoon.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in the city reported eyewitnesses as saying that an estimated nine mortar rounds blasted into the American-occupied facility, sending clouds of smoke billowing into the sky.

The correspondent reported that two Apache helicopters could be seen hovering above the area for 45 minutes unable to locate the source of the incoming rounds. Another helicopter emblazoned with a red cross landed inside the base and then took off just a quarter of an hour later, in what apparently was an evacuation of personnel wounded in the attack.

Wasit Province.

Al-Kut.

Muqtada as-Sadr supporters call for release of militiamen.

Hundreds of supporters of the Shi‘i religious leader Muqtada as-Sadr took to the streets of al-Kut in southern Iraq Tuesday morning to demand the release of 25 members of the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, al-Jazeera satellite TV reported.
