Al-Anbar Province.

Ar-Ramadi.

Two US soldiers reported killed in roadside bombing near ar-Ramadi.

In a dispatch posted at 11:30am Mecca time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a US patrol on the road to the Kilometer Five area west of ar-Ramadi, some 110km west of Baghdad.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported eyewitnesses living in the Kilometer Five area as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road near the Zankur Bridge blew up as a patrol of four American Humvees passed by. The blast disabled one of the vehicles, killing two American soldiers and wounding two more.

Iraqi puppet army spokesman contradicts US military announcement: seven US Marines killed in Friday’s fighting in ar-Ramadi, not three as American statement claimed.

A spokesman for the Iraqi puppet army announced Saturday at a press conference for Iraqi journalists in the Provincial government office building in ar-Ramadi, that seven US Marines of the 98th airborne division had been killed and 12 others wounded in violent fighting that took place in the on 17 Street in the middle of the city on Friday.

Lieutenant Colonel Mukhlis Jasim of the Iraqi puppet army told the press conference, which was attended by the ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam, that 30 Resistance fighters, whom he called “insurgents,” were killed in the combat as well.

An official in ar-Ramadi Hospital, however, told Mafkarat al-Islam at noon after the press conference that four Iraqis had been killed in the fighting, all of them Resistance fighters. A person in charge of the ar-Ramadi Martyrs’ Cemetery denied that the bodies of any Resistance fighters had been brought in for burial.

The announcement by Lieutenant Colonel Jasim conflicted with a statement issued on Friday night by the US occupation forces who claimed that only three US troops had been killed in the Friday combat in ar-Ramadi.

Al-Fallujah.

Two US Marines reported killed in roadside bombing in al-Fallujah Saturday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US Marine patrol in al-Fallujah, 50km west of Bagahdad on Saturday morning.

A source in the al-Fallujah puppet police told Quds Press that a bomb that had been planted on a road in the area blew up destroying one American Humvee and killing two US troops. Four other members of the American patrol were wounded in the blast.

The source said that US forces then encircled the area and sealed it off in order to evacuate their casualties to the US base at al-Habbaniyah.

Abu Ghurayb.

US, puppet army forces make mass arrests of youths in Abu Ghurayb Saturday.

In a dispatch posted at 12:30pm Mecca time Saturday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US and Iraqi puppet army troops had launched a campaign of mass arrests of Sunnis in the Abu Ghurayb area, some 25km west of Baghdad.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in Abu Ghurayb reported that as of the time of writing 33 youths, including students, religious scholars, and teachers, had been arrested but that the raids and arrests were still going on. The correspondent noted that the arrests had not been prompted by any new attack on US or puppet army forces.

Baghdad.

Resistance bomb blasts joint US-Iraqi puppet army patrol in ar-Ridwaniyah.

In a dispatch posted at 5pm Mecca time Saturday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a joint US-Iraqi puppet army patrol on the main road to ash-Shurtah al-Khamisah east of the southwest Baghdad suburb of ar-Ridwaniyah.

The ar-Ridwaniyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of a farm road had blown up by the joint patrol, disabling one Iraqi puppet army vehicle and killing one Iraqi puppet army soldier. Three other soldiers were wounded, one of them an American.

Resistance car bomber blasts into car carrying foreign contractors in eastern Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 3:30pm Mecca time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter had driven an explosives-laden car into a column of armor-plated vehicles carrying foreign mercenary contractors working for the US occupation forces on the main road in Baghdad’s eastern district of an-Nidal.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi puppet police as saying that an Iraqi Resistance fighter blasted his explosives-packed car into a column of armor-plated vehicles, destroying one of the cars vehicles and killing or wounding the four foreign contractors who were inside.

Bomb blasts mercenary contractor vehicle in ad-Durah Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 10:45am Mecca time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a column of armor-plated four-wheel drive vehicles of the sort used by mercenary security contractors working for the US occupation forces. The attack occurred on the main road to the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported ad-Durah residents as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road blew up as the column passed by, completely destroying one of the vehicles and killing or wounding the five foreigners who were aboard it.

Saturday morning bomb blast in vegetable market kills 15, including Sunni religious scholar and Imam. Twenty others wounded.

A source in the Sunni Council for Pious Endowment (Waqf) in Baghdad announced that there had been a car bomb explosion in the midst of a vegetable market in the Diyala Bridge section of the southern part of the occupied Iraqi capital Saturday morning.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a source in the Sunni Waqf Council said that a well-known Sunni religious scholar and preacher who was the Imam of a southern Baghdad mosque was killed in the blast along with 14 other persons. The explosion also wounded anther 20 people.

In a dispatch posted at 11:01am GMT Saturday morning, the Qatari News Agency (QANA) reported a source in the puppet “Iraqi Ministry of the Interior” as reporting the bombing.

Salah ad-Din Province.

Samarra’.

Resistance bomb blasts US patrol in Samarra’ Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11am Mecca time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a US military patrol on the road to the al-‘Ulwah area of Samarra’, north of Baghdad.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported residents of the city as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of al-‘Ulwah road blew up as a patrol of four US Humvees was passing by, the blast completely destroyed one of the vehicles, killing or wounding four American troops who were aboard.

Bayji.

US admits five soldiers killed in two Resistance attacks in Bayji.

In a dispatch posted at 8:50pm GMT Saturday night, the Qatari News Agency (QANA) reported that Iraqi Resistance attacks mounted two separate attacks on US patrols in the area of Bayji, nearly 200km north of Baghdad, according to official US spokesmen.

QANA reported Friday that the US military authorities had announced that five US soldiers, belonging to the 101st Airborne Division, had been and five more wounded in the two attacks.

Diyala Province.

Kan‘an

Three US troops reported killed in roadside car bomb explosion near Kan‘an.

In a dispatch posted at 3:45pm Mecca time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by a US military column on the road to Kan‘an, some 40km east of Ba‘qubah, northeast of Baghdad.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in Diyala Province reported residents of Kan‘an as saying that an explosives-packed car that had been parked by the side of the road blew up as a column of several American Humvees drove past. One of the Humvees was totally destroyed in the blast that killed three US troops and seriously wounded a fourth, the witnesses said.

Abu Sayda.

Funeral of puppet official blasted by car bomber at sunset Saturday.

A car bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle near the memorial meeting for a local puppet official in Abu Sayda, about 65km northeast of Baghdad around sunset on Saturday.

In a dispatch posted at 7:19pm GMT, the Qatari News Agency (QANA) reported puppet police Colonel Muzaffar ‘Abbud as saying that 60 people had been killed and about 70 injured in the attack.

QANA noted that tension had been high in the area of Abu Sayda and around Ba‘qubah generally following the arrest of more than 350 local Sunnis by the US-installed “Iraqi Interior Ministry” some days ago.

Al-Mada’in.

Puppet forces launch campaign of mass arrests in al-Mada’in Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 12 noon Mecca time Saturday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that troops of the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry al-Karrar Brigade” had surrounded several neighborhoods in al-Mada’in, southeast of Baghdad and begun mass arrests of local residents.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported residents of al-Mada’in as saying that the al-Karrar Brigade troops had surrounded Sunni neighborhoods at dawn and began arresting local people on charges that they had been carrying out attacks on US occupation troops and Iraqi puppet regime soldiers.

Al-Khalis.

One US soldier reported killed in bombing near al-Khalis Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11:20am Mecca time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a column of several American Humvees and Bradley armored vehicles on the road to al-Khalis, about 55km north of Baghdad.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported a source in the Iraqi puppet police as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the al-Khalis road blew up as a US column was passing by, disabling one Bradley armored vehicle and killing one US soldier. Two other American troops were wounded in the blast.

Babil Province.

Al-Latifiyah.

Resistance bomb rips through American fuel convoy south of Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 4:50pm Mecca time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a US military fuel convoy on the highway south of al-Latifiyah, some 25km south of Baghdad.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in al-Latifiyah reported eyewitnesses as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road blew up by a convoy of four Humvees and 11 fuel tankers. The blast set one of the trucks on fire and killed its driver who was employed by the US occupation forces.

Ninwa Province.

Tall ‘Afar.

Resistance assassinates deputy puppet police chief Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 7:05pm Mecca time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a number of Iraqi Resistance fighters had shot and killed Lieutenant Colonel Husayn ‘Ali, the deputy chief of the puppet police in Tall ‘Afar. The Resistance fighters ambushed the car carrying Lieutenant Colonel ‘Ali minutes after it drove away from his house in the city on Saturday morning.

In a second operation, an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column west of Tall ‘Afar but failed to inflict any damage. The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that the bomb exploded off target killing one Iraqi and wounding four others in varying degrees of severity, according to Dr. Tawfiq al-Mawsuli of the city hospital.

Mosul.

Large US force surrounds home in Mosul Saturday night claiming high-ranking al-Qa‘idah commander was inside. Ensuing combat leaves puppet forces, Resistance fighters dead.

In a bulletin posted at 7:25pm Mecca time Saturday night, the Mosul correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a large force of US troops with air support from helicopters and armored vehicles as well as Iraqi puppet troops under the supervision of the puppet governor of Mosul, Diya’ al-Kashmulah, had surrounded a house in the middle of the city about an hour before.

The American troops were claiming that a high-ranking leader of the al-Qa‘idah in the Land of the Two Rivers had taken refuge in the house. The correspondent reported that people of the area informed the occupation forces about the house and its occupants.

Explosions were heard inside the house shortly before the correspondent filed his report.

In a dispatch posted at 7:19pm GMT, the Qatari News Agency (QANA) reported a source in the local Iraqi puppet police as saying that four officers in the Iraqi puppet police and eight Resistance fighters had been killed in a clash in the as-Sukkar neighborhood of northeastern Mosul.

The source said that three of the Resistance fighter blew themselves up during an assault by US and Iraqi puppet forces on a house that was reportedly occupied by members of the organization al-Qa‘idah in the Land of the Two Rivers.

Resistance bombards puppet “Iraqi National Guard” headquarters in Mosul.

In a dispatch posted at 11:45am Mecca time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had fired four heavy 120mm mortar rounds into the headquarters of the puppet “Iraqi National Guard” in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi puppet police as saying that a parts of the headquarters building, located in the middle of Mosul, were destroyed by the barrage, which also killed four Iraqi puppet “National Guards” and wounded five more of them.

Wasit Province.

Al-Kut.

Curfew imposed on southern city of al-Kut as tension mounts following arrests of Muqtada as-Sadr followers.

In a dispatch posted at 7:16pm GMT, the Qatari News Agency (QANA) reported that local puppet authorities in the southern Iraqi city of al-Kut, the capital of Wasit Province, had imposed a nighttime curfew from 8pm to 5am in the city. No reason for the extra security measure was cited.

An official source in the Wasit puppet police command told QANA that the curfew would be in force on Saturday night and possibly on Sunday night as well. The official failed to explain why a curfew was needed, citing only “security needs” as the reason. The source said, however, that “stringent measures” would be taken against violators of the curfew, which covered individuals as well as vehicles. The only exception to the curfew regulation would be emergencies.

Puppet rescue police had cruised through the streets of al-Kut on Saturday announcing the curfew over loudspeakers.

QANA reported that al-Kut was already in a state of tension following raids by occupation troops and Iraqi puppet “Rapid Deployment Forces” on several houses of local followers of Shi‘i religious leader Muqtada as-Sadr. A number members of the as-Sadr movement were arrested in the raids.

Later on Friday night, the headquarters of the puppet Rapid Deployment Forces in the al-‘Izzah neighborhood of western al-Kut came under mortar attack An Iraqi puppet police source told QANA that the barrage had inflicted damage on the headquarters but caused no casualties.
