Al-Anbar Province.

Hit.

US air raid leaves 14 civilians dead in apparent “punishment” for aiding Resistance.

US warplanes carried out a violent attack on four houses belonging to local Iraqis in the western city of Hit at 11am local time Friday morning.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that the hospital in Hit had announced that 14 local civilians as a result of the American air raid, among them women and children.

The correspondent reported that the assault was concentrated on the village of az-Zawiyyah east of Hit, a village inhabited by members of the al-Bu Nimr tribe, the largest tribe in the ad-Dulaym tribal federation. They had earlier received threats from the American occupation forces that they would suffer “painful” punishment for giving help to the Iraqi Resistance.

Al-Qa’im.

US occupation closes mosques in city of al-Qa’im preventing Friday prayer services in city.

In a dispatch posted at 11:50am Mecca time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier US occupation forces had prevented the people of the city of al-Qa’im near the Syrian border in western Iraq from going to mosques and attending Friday congregational prayer services.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that US occupation troops used loudspeakers to announce that the mosques would be closed today for security measures and no one would be allowed to go to mosques for any reason. The correspondent reported that the US occupation had posted massive armored vehicles at the doors of several mosques, preventing anyone from going in or even proclaiming the call to prayer.

Mafkarat al-Islam reported a first lieutenant in the Iraqi puppet army who refused to be identified as saying that the measure was a part of the state of emergency that the US occupation forces had declared in the whole province of al-Anbar in preparation for the US-sponsored “elections” to be held under American control on Thursday, 15 December.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance ambushes US patrol in al-Karmah at dawn sparking hour-long battle.

Iraqi Resistance fighters attacked a US military patrol in the middle of the al-Karmah area east of al-Fallujah at dawn Friday.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported eyewitnesses as saying that the attack sparked a firefight in the middle of al-Karmah between US forces and Iraqi Resistance fighters that lasted for a full hour. Resistance fighters fired medium machine guns and shoulder-launched rockets destroying one American Humvee and killing or wounding five US soldiers, witnesses said.

A medical source told Mafkarat al-Islam that six civilians were moderately to severely wounded after US troops turned their guns on a house near the battle scene. Two children were among those injured by the American gunfire, but their condition was stable at the time of reporting.

The American troops were able to withdraw from the area after US helicopters arrived on the scene. As is their usual practice in the city, the US troops did not return after the battle.

Ar-Ramadi.

Four US troops reported killed in high-yield bomb blast in ar-Ramadi early Friday.

A high-explosive Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in the middle of ar-Ramadi on Friday morning.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported a source in the ar-Ramadi puppet police as saying that the attack set fire to an American Zeal troop transport vehicle and killed four US soldiers and wounded a fifth. The explosion left a crater about four meters in diameter.

Immediately after the attack US occupation forces launched indiscriminate searches of nearby houses but found nothing.

Lack of rain adds to misfortunes of residents of al-Anbar.

Residents of al-Anbar Province went out to the desert areas to offer prayers for rain. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam quoted Shaykh Ahmad al-Jumayli, the Imam of th ar-Rahman mosque in ar-Ramadi as saying that the fact that the usual winter rains had not fallen was causing real problems for most people in western Iraq where the irrigation of crops and water for livestock are dependent upon the rain and where so many are employed in farming or herding.

Baghdad.

Resistance bomb in as-Sayyidiyah wounds US troops late Friday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a routine US patrol in the as-Sayyidiyah area of southern Baghdad at 11am local time Friday morning.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported Major ‘Ali Mahud of the Iraqi puppet police as sayig that the blast disabled one US Humvee, wounding four American troops who were aboard it, one of them seriously.

Eyewitnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the explosion, which occurred opposite as-Sayyidiyah Sports City, set the rear portion of a US vehicle ablaze, injuring the soldiers, they confirmed that no one had been killed in the blast.

Puppet “Wolf Brigade” forces arrest Sunnis in central and northern Baghdad Friday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 2:35pm Mecca time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi puppet “Interior Ministry Wolf Brigade” troops had arrested 30 Sunnis in various parts of central and northern Baghdad on Friday.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that the “Wolf Brigade” forces had arrested Shaykh Turki at-Talal, the chief of the al-Kartan Sunni tribe and five of his sons on charges of funding the Resistance. The Iraqi puppet army also arrested 20 Sunnis in the at-Tajiyah area north of Baghdad, charging them with “terrorism” ミ the designation that the puppet regime gives to the Resistance.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that puppet troops in dozens of vehicles had raided a house where they arrested five family members even though there were no weapons on the premises or anything else to suggest that they were connected with the Resistance.

The correspondent reported that 66 Sunnis, ranging in age from 15 to 50, had been arrested just in hours of Friday morning, with the exception that Shaykh Turki at-Talal is 65 years old.

Salah ad-Din Province.

Samarra’.

Resistance pounds US base in Samarra’ with rockets mid-morning Friday.

Iraqi Resistance forces unleashed a rocket barrage on the US base in Samarra’, north of Baghdad, at 10am local time Friday morning.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported seeing one observation tower on the US base completely collapse in the course of the attack, sending a cloud of thick, black smoke rising in the middle of the base. Before the US invasion in the spring of 2003, the base had been a major headquarters of he Army of the Republic of Iraq.

In a broadcast over their propaganda radio beamed at local residents, the US military stated that four rockets had blasted into the base but in keeping with their usual secretive style, gave no details regarding casualties or damage. The American announcement claimed that the US forces were able to suppress the “terrorist” attack, as they called the Resistance barrage.

Tikrit.

Resistance blasts US base north of Tikrit with Katyusha rockets.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired five Katyusha rockets into the main US base north of Tikrit at dawn on Friday.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in Tikrit reported a source in the Iraqi puppet police as saying that the rockets struck different parts of the base but caused no damage. Eyewitnesses who live near the base told the correspondent, however, that they saw clouds of thick smoke rising from inside the base and that helicopters hovered around the area for about an hour and fifteen minutes after the attack.

Balad.

Former Iraqi Intelligence expert on Iranian infiltration assassinated.

Unknown armed men driving an Opel car on Thursday night shot and killed a man who had been an official in the Iraqi Intelligence service prior to the American occupation. Muhanna Ghazi al-Ahbabi had worked in the branch of Intelligence dedicated to combating Iranian infiltration into Iraqi territory.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported relatives of al-Ahbabi’s as saying that unknown persons drove past and killed him in the Yathrib area of Balad, north of Baghdad. The sources blamed Iranian Intelligence and the Shi‘i sectarian pro-occupation Badr Brigades for the assassination. The Iraqi Islamic Party, an offshoot of the Iraqi Muslim Brotherhood which has collaborated with the occupation also announced that al-Ahbabi had joined that party after the occupation of the country.

Diyala Province.

Al-Mada’in.

US seals off al-Mada’in, launches raids, arrests.

In a dispatch posted at 2:35pm Mecca time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces had been carrying out a massive campaign of raids and arrests throughout all the neighborhoods of the city of al-Mada’in, southeast of Baghdad.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported witnesses as saying that the Americans had so-far arrested 36 Sunnis between the ages of 15 and 50 in the course of the campaign, which the Americans had launched at dawn, local time, on Friday. The witnesses added that money and jewelry were also stolen from the houses where the arrests took place.

The correspondent reported that US forces had surrounded the city and blocked all entrances and exits completely. The Americans used loudspeakers to threaten that any attack on them as they deployed in the city would result in “great misfortunes” for local residents.

Iran to open first consulate in Karbala’ as Tehran spreads its influence in US-occupied Iraq.

Iran is expected to open its first consulate in the southern Iraqi Shi‘i holy city of Karbala’ on Saturday. The reason for the opening is ostensibly to facilitate joint activities undertaken by Iran and the US-installed Iraqi puppet regime and to facilitate Shi‘i pilgrimages to Karbala’.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported a high-ranking source in the office of the puppet “Governor” of the province as saying that another Iranian consulate is to be opened in a few days in al-Basrah.

Following a survey of opinion of local Shi‘i Iraqis, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent found that 60 percent of them regarded the opening of the consulate in Karbala’ as the beginning of Iranian domination of Iraq. Others, followers of the pro-American Shi‘i cleric Ayatallah ‘Ali as-Sistani, welcomed the development.

Eleven bodies found in as-Samawah.

In a dispatch posted at 1:50pm Mecca time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi puppet police in the southern city of as-Samawah had discovered the bodies of 11 civilians who had been shot to death, execution style.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported a captain in the Iraqi puppet police as saying that the bodies were found on the desert road southwest of as-Samawah. They had not been identified as of the time of reporting.

Al-Basrah Province.

Al-Faw Peninsula.

Powerful blast shakes British camp on al-Faw Peninsula.

In a dispatch posted at 3:25pm Mecca time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a powerful bomb had ripped through a British military camp in al-Faw in southern Iraq

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported eyewitnesses as saying that following the explosion, smoke rose over the camp as sirens wailed.
