Al-Anbar Province.

Al-Habbaniyah.

Resistance bomb targets US troops in al-Habbaniyah; Americans randomly arrest 10 local people after attack.

In a dispatch posted at 12:30pm Mecca time midday Sunday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a passing American military column in the al-Madani neighborhood of al-Habbaniyah on Sunday morning. The witnesses said that the explosion had caused no American casualties.

After the blast, American troops surrounded neighborhood which is located near the US-occupied base in al-Habbaniyah, west of Baghdad. The US forces arrested 10 Iraqis who happened to be walking by or driving heir cars in the area at the time of the attack.

Ar-Ramadi.

Bomb rips through US military column east of ar-Ramadi.

In a dispatch posted at 11:20am Mecca time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column on the road between ar-Ramadi an al-Khalidiyah to the east.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of the al-Madiq area east of ar-Ramadi as saying that the bomb disabled one American Humvee, killing or wounding the members of its four-man crew.

Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 4:50pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had attacked a group of puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops Maghawir” in the al-Ghazaliyah area of southwestern Baghdad Sunday. The correspondent reported that the attack left two of the puppet troops dead.

In response to the attack, the puppet Shock Troops opened fire indiscriminately at passers by, shooting a 20-year-old Palestinian girl as she returned home from class at Baghdad University.

Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the puppet “Shock Troops” shot Ru’a Ghazi Ma‘ruf, who was born in Baghdad in 1986 and lives in Abu Ghurayb, as she returned home in the al-Ghazaliah area. Ru’a Ma‘ruf died of her wounds a few hours later.

US troops imprison, threaten 70-year-old woman invalid to put pressure on her grandson.

In a dispatch posted at 7pm Mecca time Sunday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported from Baghdad that on the second day of the celebrations of ‘Id al-Adha (Wednesday, 11 January 2006) US occupation troops arrested a 70-year old woman in the course of a raid and search of civilian houses in the ‘Arab Jabbur area of southern Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported relatives of the elderly woman as saying that the Americans arrested al-Hajjah Salimah ‘Isa Zaydan al-Jabburi and threatened her with “terrible consequences” if her grandson (her daughter’s son) does not turn himself in to them. The American occupation forces maintain that the grandson is a member of the Iraqi Resistance, known for carrying out large-scale operations against the occupation in recent days.

Family members told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Americans told them to tell the grandson that if he wants his grandmother returned home safely that he must surrender to them immediately at the US-occupied Sukkaniya base south of Baghdad. The relatives said that al-Hajjah Salimah, who they say is an invalid, is still being held a prisoner of the Americans.

Resistance bombards puppet “National Guard” headquarters in ad-Durah.

In a dispatch posted at 4:05pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had bombarded an Iraqi puppet “National Guard” base in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah with 60mm mortar rounds.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the shells blasted directly into the camp, sending pillars of smoke rising into the sky.

Resistance bombards US camp south of Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 1:05pm Mecca time midday Sunday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had fired six 82mm mortar round into a US military camp on the road to the al-Bu ‘Ithah area south of the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the shells scored direct hits on the American-occupied facility sending plumes of smoke billowing up over all parts of the camp. After the attack, American troops surrounded the area and opened fire indiscriminately.

Resistance bombards US base in at-Taji.

In a dispatch posted at 11:30am Mecca time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had fired two medium-range Grad rockets into the US military headquarters in the northern Baghdad suburb of at-Taji.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of at-Taji who witnessed the attack as saying that the barrage set off explosions and sent smoke billowing up over the US-occupied facility.

Bulgaria to send troops to Iraq to aid American occupation forces as guards at Mujahideen-e Khalq camp north of Baghdad.

Bulgarian Defense Minister Veselin Bliznakov announced on Saturday that his country plans to deploy 154 troops in Iraq on a mission lasting “no more than a year.” The regime in Sofia, currently headed by the Socialist Party Premier

The Bulgarian News Agency BTA reported Bliznakov as saying that he expects the government in Sofia to take the final decision on the mission within the next two weeks and then send the matter to the Parliament for its approval. With the ruling Socialist-led coalition strongly dominating the Bulgarian parliament, approval of the government decision is thought likely, despite widespread popular opposition in the country to Sofia’s backing of the illegal American occupation of Iraq.

The Bulgarian News.bg website reported that the Bulgarian troops are to be deployed to guard the Ashraf “Refugee Camp” some 100km north of Baghdad, where 3,000-4,000 members of the Iranian dissident organization Mujahideen-e Khalq reside.

On 27 December 2005, the last of a Bulgarian military force was withdrawn from Iraq. The military mission announced Saturday will officially be dubbed “humanitarian” assistance to Iraq in an attempt to disguise Sofia’s continued subservience to Washington and its occupation policy in Iraq.

Zionist books distributed in occupied Iraq.

The Zionist newspaper Haaretz disclosed on Sunday that novels by Iraqi-born Zionist writer Sami Michael had been translated into Arabic and were being widely distributed in Iraq.

Haaretz, as monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Sami Michael’s novel Victoria had been translated and marketed for the first time in Cairo. Then the al-Jamal publishing house in K嗟n, Germany had reprinted the book for distribution in the rest of the Arab world, with half of the copies being sent to bookstores in occupied Iraq. Haaretz quoted author Michael as saying that he hoped his book would improve relations between Zionists and Iraqis. Victoria is a novel ostensibly portraying the life of several generations of Iraqi Jews who eventually emigrate to occupied Palestine (“Israel”).

Tikrit.

Resistance fighters ambush supply convoy in Tikrit, destroying two trucks and killing their drivers.

In a dispatch posted at 3:25pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had attacked an American supply truck convoy hauling provisions along the main road to the American base in Tikrit.

The Tikrit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that Resistance fighters armed with light and medium weapons and pipe rockets attacked the convoy, destroying two US trucks and killing two drivers who were working for the American occupation forces.

Resistance bomb disables truck in American supply convoy near Tikrit.

In a dispatch posted at 1pm Mecca time midday Sunday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a convoy of trucks hauling supplies to US bases near the al-‘Awjah area south of Tikrit on the road to Samarra’.

The Tikrit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the bomb disabled one of the trucks and wounded its driver.

Balad.

Resistance bombards American-occupied al-Bakr military base.

In a dispatch posted at 2:45pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces had fired eight 82mm mortar round into the US-occupied al-Bakr military base south of Balad.

The Balad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of the Yathrib area adjacent to the American-occupied facility as saying that the barrage set off explosions inside the base and sent plumes of smoke rising into the sky.

Al-Ishaqi.

Resistance bomb targets convoy supplying US base in al-Ishaqi.

In a dispatch posted at 12:55pm Mecca time midday Sunday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a truck convoy hauling provisions to US bases on the highway north of Baghdad in the town of al-Ishaqi.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the blast disabled one of the trucks in the convoy, wounding the driver.

Diyala Province.

Ba‘qubah.

Resistance rockets US base in Ba‘qubah airport.

In a dispatch posted at 3:55pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet “Rapid Deployment Forces” as saying that Iraqi Resistance forces had fired four medium-range Katyusha rockets into the US-occupied ‘Abbas ibn Farnas Airport in Ba‘qubah, northeast of Baghdad.

The Ba‘qubah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US helicopters coud be seen prowling the skies above the base at low altitude after the attack.

At-Ta’mim Province.

Kirkuk.

US soldier reported killed by Resistance bomb southwest of Kirkuk.

In a dispatch posted at 3:20pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a US military column on the road between al-Hawijah and the az-Zab area southwest of Kirkuk in northern Iraq.

The Kirkuk correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road to the az-Zab area blew up by a column of several American armored vehicles and Humvees. The explosion disabled ane armored vehicle, killing one American soldier and wounding two more of them.

Ninwa Province.

Mosul.

Resistance mounts assault on Peshmergah checkpoint in Mosul.

In a dispatch posted at 3:40pm Mecca time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters had attacked a checkpoint manned by pro-American Kurdish separatist Peshmergah militiamen in the middle of Mosul in northern Iraq.

The Mosul correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that Resistance fighters armed with light and medium weapons had assaulted the checkpoint that served as part of the security ring around the headquarters of the pro-American Union of Kurdistan Party in Mosul. Two Peshmergah gunmen were killed in the assault and three more of them wounded. The Resistance fighters withdrew from the area after the attack.

Resistance bomb targets puppet army column near Senaharib Bridge in Mosul.

In a dispatch posted at 10am Mecca time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a column of Iraqi puppet troops near the Senaharib Bridge on the road leading to the center of Mosul.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi puppet army as saying that the bomb destroyed one troop transport vehicle, killing four Iraqi puppet soldiers and wounding four more of them. The Ansar as-Sunnah Iraqi Resistance organization declared its responsibility for the attack in a communiqu distributed among several mosques in the city.
