Al-Anbar Province.

Al-Hadithah.

Lethal Resistance bomb blasts US column in al-Hadithah Tuesday afternoon.

In a bulletin posted at 4:50pm Mecca time Tuesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter had blasted into a US military column in the western Iraqi city of al-Hadithah.

The al-Hadithah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the attack destroyed two US vehicles in the column. The correspondent personally saw the two vehicles on fire when he arrived on the scene of the attack near the ash-Shuhada’ Primary School.

The correspondent reported that a number of American troops had been killed in the attack, but that US forces were surrounding the area and had completely closed the roads to the scene from a distance of 2km away, making an exact casualty assessment impossible.

Ar-Ramadi.

US launches mass arrest sweeps in ar-Ramadi, al-Khalidiyah, al-Habbaniyah, al-Jazirah.

In a dispatch posted at 3:10pm Mecca time Tuesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces launched a new campaign or raids and arrests in western parts of ar-Ramadi, some 110km west of Baghdad on Tuesday morning. The raids were still underway when the correspondent filed his report.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam wrote that US troops had carried out wholesale round ups in the at-Ta’mim neighborhood. Reports said that any youth with a beard was being arrested and that so far 70 people of varying ages had been taken prisoner by the Americans.

The correspondent reported that mass arrest campaigns were also underway in al-Khalidiyah, al-Habbaniyah, and the al-Jazirah area, but he was unable at that time to provide details from the other towns in that area of western Iraq.

For their part, US troops used their Radio al-Hurriyah propaganda station that broadcasts in Arabic to residents of ar-Ramadi, to tell them that there is a money reward of up to US500,000 for anyone providing information on the whereabouts of Arab Resistance fighters or stockpiles of weapons.

Abu Ghurayb.

After 400 days in notorious Abu Ghurayb prison, 19-year old Iraqi girl has “disappeared.”

In a dispatch posted at 3:35pm Mecca time Tuesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a young Iraqi woman prisoner is today marking her 400th day in the notorious American Abu Ghurayb prison camp, some 30km west of Baghdad.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that ‘A’ishah Ahmad ‘Umar of the al-Hurriyah district of Baghdad is 19 years old and a student in the University’s College of Economic Science, or was until she was arrested last year from her home on charges of “terrorism” and “support for terrorism,” according to a statement issued by the occupation forces at the time.

Umm ‘A’isha, ‘A’ishah’s 44-year-old mother, told Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent, “My daughter today completed her 400th full day in prison, having still not been released.”

Umm ‘A’ishah said that she and her husband had knocked on the doors of the puppet “Ministry of Human Right” and the puppet “Ministry of Women’s Affairs” about the case to no avail. They have been able to visit their daughter in the prison camp only twice and then the soldiers at the facility denied she was there, claiming that most female prisoners had been released from Abu Ghurayb.

‘A’ishah’s family say that the reason she was arrested was that her brother was an Iraqi Resistance commander in Baghdad and that a number of Iraqi spies had informed the occupation that the only way to get at him was to arrest either his sister or his mother to pressure him into surrendering.

‘A’ishah’s father says, “The occupation doesn’t know that her brother was martyred a month ago in the battles of al-Qa’im in western Iraq.”

The US occupation announced several days ago that there are only six Iraqi women in American prisons now and that they would all be released. But ‘A’ishah’s relatives believe that their daughter has either been killed or that the occupation has made her disappear as they have made dozens of other Iraqi women prisoners disappear in their dark realm of dungeons and torture chambers.

Baghdad.

Resistance bombs strike US, Iraqi puppet police targets. Two American soldiers reported killed in ar-Rashid section of Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 1:20pm Mecca time Tuesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded on the main road in the ar-Rashid area of southern Baghdad.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi puppet police as saying that the bomb exploded by a passing American column, disabling one Humvee and killing two US troops andwounding a third.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a puppet police patrol in Baghdad’s eastern al-Karradah neighborhood. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that the bomb, which was planted on Public Road 52 blew up by a puppet police patrol, disabling one patrol vehicle and wounding two puppet policemen.

In a dispatch posted at 12:40pm Mecca time Tuesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter drove an explosives-laden car into an Iraqi puppet police checkpoint near the Iranian embassy in Baghdad, not far from the northern entrance to what the Americans call the “Green Zone” ミ the area around the Republican Palace where the US has established its occupation headquarters for the country.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that the explosion near a puppet police checkpoint outside the embassy disabled one parol vehicle, killing four puppet policemen and wounding 14 more persons ミ three of them puppet policemen and 11 employees working in the “Green Zone.”

US admits four soldiers killed on Monday.

The US military admitted on Tuesday that four of its soldiers had been killed on Monday in various operations in Iraq. The American military, in a report monitored by Quds Press, said that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had killed two US soldiers in Baghdad on Monday. One of the two died on the scene while the second died of his wounds after being taken to hospital.

Salah ad-Din Province.

Bayji.

Two German engineers kidnapped in Bayji early Tuesday.

In a dispatch posted at 12 noon Mecca time Tuesday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Iraqi puppet police had announced that two German engineers had been abducted in the town of Bayji on Tuesday.

Reuters, as monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam, reported Lieutenant Colonel Kazim ‘Abbas and a the puppet “deputy governor” of the province as saying that armed men abducted the German engineers who work in a detergent plant at an industrial complex around the Bayji oil refinery, the largest in occupied Iraq. The puppet police said the two were abducted from within the compound at about 8:30am local time Tuesday morning.

Sources in the puppet police told Quds Press that armed men wearing puppet “National Guard” uniforms raided the factory where the engineers worked and abducted them. Quds Press noted that the abductions are thought to be related to recent accusations that German intelligence ミ the Bundesnachrichtendienst or BND ミ had agents in Iraq providing information to the US military to help them in seizing control of the country. There have been rumors, Quds Press noted, that German agents had provided tips to the Americans on the whereabouts of Iraqi leaders, including President Saddam Hussein.

Recent media disclosures have pointed to a much higher level of official German intelligence support for the US invasion and occupation of Iraq than had earlier been suspected. The German regime is a NATO satellite of the United States.

The as-Samawah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the barrage sent plumes of smoke rising over the Japanese-occupied facility. Afterwards Japanese and Iraqi puppet troops surrounded the headquarters and prevented anyone from approaching.

Life returns to “normal” in al-Basrah following Hajj: funeral of coastguardsman killed by Iranian forces; murder kidnapping of Sunnis in az-Zubayr.

In a dispatch posted at 11:30am Mecca time Tuesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that after a calm period coinciding with the Hajj season, things have returned to “normal” in the area of the southern city of al-Basrah with two Sunni residents murdered on Monday and a third kidnapped in the az-Zubayr area southwest of the city.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that armed men stopped a car carrying the three men and then shot and killed two of them. They then took the third man to an unknown destination. The three men, all Sunnis were businessmen in the city and because they are Sunni, the involvement of Shi‘i sectarians is suspected.

In other news, the province of al-Basrah buried the remains of a puppet coastal boarder guard killed by Iranian coast guards in an incident on Saturday, 14 January 2006, in which Iranian coastguard vessels rushed to the aid of a ship that Iraqi officials suspected of smuggling oil out of al-Basrah.

Eyewitnesses reported that at the funeral the Iraqi puppet police ミ overwhelmingly dominated by Shi‘i sectarian militias sympathetic with Iran ミ prevented relatives of the dead man from talking saying anything against Iran to the media.
