Al-Anbar Province.

Ar-Ramadi.

Resistance bomb targets US patrol north of ar-Ramadi midday Thursday.

In a dispatch posted at 6:05pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a US military patrol in the al-Jazirah area north of ar-Ramadi, some 110km west of Baghdad at midday Thursday.

The ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a lieutenant in the Iraqi puppet army who asked not to be identified as saying that a bomb planted next to a road in al-Jazirah near the Animal Care Department blew up by a US patrol. The blast killed or wounded four American Marines belonging to the 7th US Marine division, the lieutenant said.

Eyewitnesses for their part told Mafkarat al-Islam that after the blast, the surviving Americans opened fire indiscriminately around the area, killing one Iraqi civilian and wounding two more, one of them a child aged seven years. The child was later taken to hospital for treatment.

Al-Habbaniyah.

Bodies of four translators working with US occupation troops found dumped by road near al-Habbaniyah.

In a dispatch posted at 12:20pm Mecca time midday Thursday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops discovered the bodies of four translators dumped on an outer road north of al-Habbaniyah on Thursday morning.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported a source in the city hospital as saying that a patrol of US occupation troops brought the four bodies to their facility. All had gunshot wounds to the head. An investigation revealed their identity papers to show them to have been translators working on a US military base in al-Anbar Province.

The hospital source, who preferred not to be identified, said that the translators were from Baghdad, al-Hillah and al-Kut and were not originally from al-Anbar Province. The condition of the bodies indicated that they had been killed two or at most three days before they were discovered.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance fighter ambushes US foot patrol south of al-Fallujah early Thursday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 9:50pm Mecca time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a foot patrol of about 15 US soldiers in the Zawbi‘ area near the al-‘Annaz Bridge in the ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah area, south of the city of al-Fallujah, at about 2pm local time Thursday afternoon.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that a Resistance fighter armed with a light PKS machine gun opened fire on the Americans.

After the attack, US forces deployed in the area and searched houses for the Resistance attacker. Because of the difficulty of approaching the scene of the attack, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent was unable to asses the nature or extent of US casualties.

Resistance fires rocket barrage at US base to the east of al-Fallujah early Thursday.

In a dispatch posted at 12:10pm Mecca time midday Thursday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces five rockets into the US base east of the city of al-Fallujah on Thursday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported construction workers whose jobsite is near the American base as saying that they saw five missiles blast into the American base, sending smoke billowing into the sky. They said they could hear sirens wailing from inside the American-occupied facility.

The correspondent spoke with a source in the al-Fallujah puppet police who confirmed the report, adding that US artillery returned fire, targeting what they thought was the launch site of the rockets located to the south of al-Fallujah. The American shelling caused no casualties, however, neither in the ranks of the Resistance fighters nor of the civilian population.

Abu Ghurayb.

Hundreds of Iraqis gather in hopes that loved ones will be released from notorious US prison camps.

In a dispatch posted at 1:50pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that following a report on Wednesday by the Iraqi puppet “Ministry of Justice” that the US would be releasing 424 Iraqi prisoners ミ including five women ミ from the notorious Abu Ghurayb and Camp Bucca prisons, hundreds of Iraqis gathered near those institutions hoping that their loved ones would be among the lucky few to be set free.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at Abu Ghurayb, US military authorities allowed the crowds of hopeful relatives to stand some 300 meters from the first line of walls around the facility as they wait for the prisoner release sometime later in the day. Some of the prisoners have already spent more than two years in American custody.

Baghdad.

Two US troops reported killed in morning bombing in ad-Durah.

In a dispatch posted at 12:10pm Mecca time midday Thursday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in the al-Mahdiyah neighborhood of the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Captain Muhammad Farhan of the ad-Durah puppet police as saying that the blast damaged an American Humvee and killed two US soldiers and wounded still more.

Captain Farhan said that the bomb was a high-explosive device that had been planted under an old election poster. He said that the blast occurred as an American column was driving past, damaging one armored Humvee, killing two US troops and wounding others who were also aboard the Humvee.

Resistance bombards “Green Zone” as employees show up for work Thursday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11:10am Mecca time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired two mortar rounds into the region in central Baghdad around the Republican Palace ミ the area where the Americans have set up the headquarters of their occupation, calling it the “Green Zone.” The attack took place at about 7am local time as employees and workers were entering the large, tightly controlled compound.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi puppet police as saying that a plume of smoke rose over the Zone starting moments after the barrage and lasting for about half an hour.

The source said that the two mortar rounds blasted into an area about 100 meters from the US embassy in the Zone, but he had no information on the nature or extent of casualties, if any.

Resistance bomb kills five Iraqi puppet army soldiers.

In a dispatch posted at 12:50pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb had exploded by a patrol of Iraqi puppet army troops in the al-Ishaqi area, some 100km north of Baghdad at 9am Thursday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet army who asked not to be identified as saying that the roadside bomb had damaged the vehicles in the patrol, killing five Iraqi puppet army soldiers and wounding two more of them.

After the explosion, US troops arrived on the scene, surrounded it ミ as they usually do, and then arrested four men, one of them a shepherd, on charges of being involved in the attack.

Balad.

Puppet “Industry Minister” survives sixth assassination attempt in less than a year.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by the motorcade of the puppet “Iraqi Minister of Industry” near Balad as the puppet “Minister” was on his way to Mosul. A spokesman for the puppet “Ministry” told al-Jazeera satellite TV that puppet “Minister” Usamah an-Najafi survived the assassination attempt unharmed but that three of his body guards perished in the attack.

The spokesman added that this was the sixth attempt on the puppet “Minister’s” life since he was appointed to the post early in 2005. After the attack, an-Najafi decided to call off his visit to Mosul and return to Baghdad.

Tikrit.

Puppet police with US helicopter air support raid houses in five Tikrit neighborhoods, arrest 19 people, seize licensed weapons from homeowners.

In a dispatch posted at 7:40pm Mecca time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi puppet police with air cover from American helicopters carried out a campaign of house-to-house raids and searches in a number of neighborhoods of the city of Tikrit, north of Baghdad on Thursday morning, arresting 19 Iraqis of various ages and seizing a large number of firearms from owners who had official licenses to possess them.

The Tikrit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a number of those whose homes were raided as saying that the puppet police came early in the morning, raiding houses in the neighborhoods of al-Arba‘in, al-Ba‘th, al-Qadisiyah, ad-Dubbat, and al-Muhandisin. During the raids, they said, American helicopters hovered at very low altitude overhead. The witnesses said that the puppet police arrested 19 persons, but never specified what they were charged with.

For his part, a spokesman for the Iraqi puppet police announced that the raids were carried out base on information that there were what he called “terrorists” ミ meaning Resistance fighters ミ in those neighborhoods of the city. The spokesman said that the puppet police had arrested 19 citizens and seized 33 light weapons.

At-Ta’mim Province.

Kirkuk.

Resistance fighters assassinate puppet Judge specializing in “terrorism” cases in Kirkuk.

In a dispatch posted at 7:40pm Mecca time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters had attacked the Kirkuk home of a judge who specialized in so-called “terrorism” cases (meaning cases involving Resistance fighters), killing the judge and his son, a lieutenant in the city puppet police.

The Kirkuk correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the city puppet police as saying that Resistance fighters attacked the home of Judge Jabir al-Jaff, a judge in the Kirkuk Court, with a specialization in cases of “terrorism”. The source said that at 6am local time Thursday morning, the Resistance fighters stormed the house. They first killed four guards at the door of the building, and then went inside where they killed the judge and his son. The Resistance fighters then left the area.

Director of Kurdish separatist party office assassinated in Kiruk.

Iraqi Resistance fighters attacked and killed Jum‘ah al-Hajj Rashid, 50 years of age, who headed an office of the pro-American Kurdish separatist National Union of Kurdistan party, al-Jazeera reported on Thursday. The so-called National Union of Kurdistan is the political organization headed by US-appointed “Iraqi President” Jalal at-Talibani.

Mosul.

As US reportedly prepares to release five women prisoners, American troops take two sisters prisoner in Mosul pending surrender of their brother.

In a dispatch posted at 8:10pm Mecca time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces arrested two sisters from their home in the middle of the northern Iraqi city of Mosul just hours after it was announced that the US planned to release five Iraqi women prisoners it holds.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet popular council in Mosul as saying that US Marines raided the home of a man wanted by the US occupation authorities on suspicion of being involved with the Iraqi Resistance. The raid on the house located in the al-Qahirah neighborhood of the city took place at an early hour of Thursday morning.

The source said that when the US troops failed to find the man for whom they were looking, they arrested the absent man’s two sisters, aged 25 and 30. The Americans announced that they would hold the women until their brother surrendered to the occupation troops.

The source told Mafkarat al-Islam that the sisters were still in the US al-Ghazlani base at Thursday night when the correspondent filed his report.

Tall ‘Afar.

Deadly Resistance car bomb blasts US patrol in northwestern Iraqi city of Tall ‘Afar midday Thursday.

In a dispatch posted at 7:50pm Mecca time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance car bomb blew up by a US patrol in western Tall ‘Afar in northern Iraq at midday Thursday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local residents as saying that the explosion came from an explosives-laden car that a number of Resistance fighters had parked by the side of a dirt road in the area about an hour before the American column passed by. One witness said that the Resistance fighters told people in nearby houses about the car and explained that the needed to keep away and open their doors and windows, while keeping their children from going outside for two or three hours.

The explosion damaged one of the American armored vehicles. Witnesses said that they saw the bodies of American soldiers on the roofs of their houses after the explosion, but then US troops came along afterwards and loaded the corpses on Humvees and took them off to one of their nearby bases.

The correspondent reported that the occupation troops later withdrew from the area leaving an Iraqi puppet army patrol to police the area. The puppet troops set up a checkpoint near the scene of the explosion and prevented anyone from approaching the area of the attack.
