Hit.

US troops carry out random arrests of local residents of Hit.

In a dispatch posted at 5:30pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces carried out a campaign of random arrests of local residents of the western Iraqi city of Hit beginning Thursday morning.

The Hit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the city municipality as saying that the Americans arrested 33 local residents, ranging in age from 15 to 50. Among those rounded up by the Americans were three local religious leaders. The Americans also seized a number of weapons and a quantity of ammunition from the local men’s houses.

Al-Fallujah.

Bodies of apparent collaborators found executed south of al-Fallujah.

In a dispatch posted at 2:30pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi puppet police found two unidentified bodies in the south of al-Fallujah on Thursday morning.

The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that the two bodies had been shot in the head and dumped in the open. A note found with the bodies read: “This is the fate of stooges.”

The source said that the bodies had not yet been positively identified, but it was suspected that they belonged to translators working with the American troops or informers who provided information on what was going on in the city to the Americans.

Resistance fighters ambush US patrol in ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah early Thursday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 1pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a US patrol in ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah at about 8am local time Thursday morning.

The ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that four Resistance fighters emerged from an Opel car near an American patrol and sprayed them with a hail of gunfire and anti-tank rockets, destroying one Humvee and killing or wounding four US troops.

The witnesses said that the Resistance fighters withdrew from the scene after their attack on the US vehicle.

Multiple bombing in al-Fallujah leaves 16 US troops dead or wounded; local people rush to seize dead Americans’ weapons, equipment prompting massive US raids and searches.

In a dispatch posted at 11:24am Mecca time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that four high-explosive Iraqi Resistance bombs planted by the side and in the middle of the road near the al-Fallujah - Tourist Area crossroads exploded in the midst of an American foot patrol.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses at the scene of the attack as saying that 16 US Marines were killed or wounded in the multiple bomb attack.

An officer in the al-Fallujah puppet police who asked not to be identified told Mafkarat al-Islam that the American occupation troops launched massive searches and raids in the area of the attack and around it, storming into nearby houses because immediately after the attack, local people had rushed out to take the weapons, helmets and body armor from the dead Americans.

Ar-Ramadi.

US transports nine wrecked military vehicles to the US vehicle “graveyard” in Hit.

In a dispatch posted at 6:20pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces had loaded up nine wrecked military vehicles onto a giant truck that hauled them away from ar-Ramadi to the American army’s vehicle graveyard in the western Iraqi city of Hit. The operation was carried out under cover of intense security, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

The ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that US troops set up re-enforced check points after the column of huge transport trucks left the city for Hit. The Americans detained everyone who had a portable camera telephone or a videocamera in his possession.

The witnesses said that the Americans provided air cover in the form of four helicopters that flew at moderate altitude over the convoy of huge trucks loaded with nine wrecked and disabled vehicles. The witnesses said that most of the vehicles showed signs of rust on them.

Mafkarat al-Islam noted that the Jaysh Ansar as-Sunnah and Jaysh al-Fatiheen in ar-Ramadi had taken responsibility for a number of Resistance attacks on US forces in the city in the previous week.

US troops throw six families into the street at midnight, demolish their houses, and kill a woman and child in a neighboring home in ar-Ramadi.

In a dispatch posted at 12:50pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces night razed six Iraqi homes in the al-Mal‘ab (Playing Field) area of ar-Ramadi, some 110km west of Baghdad, Wednesday night.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an American force backed up by helicopters and accompanied by bulldozers showed up in the middle of the city at midnight local time. The Americans proceeded to bulldoze six houses in one area ミ the al-Mal‘ab area ミ on the pretext that the homeowners had been involved in killings of US occupation troops in the city.

Numerous witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the American occupation troops ordered the families living in the houses out in the street at midnight, but refused to let them bring any of their belongings with them. The then destroyed the houses, one after the other.
In the course of their operation, the US forces killed one child aged seven and his mother who were both in a house adjacent to those that the Americans were wrecking. During the Americans’ destructive operation the wall of the neighboring house also collapsed killing the mother and child, according to a report by the Forensic Medicine Department of ar-Ramadi.

Al-Habbaniyah.

Bomb kills Iraqi family in reported timing error.

In a dispatch posted at 6:30pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a bomb exploded by a civilian car in al-Habbaniyah, 69km west of Baghdad, apparently by mistake at midday on Thursday.

The al-Habbaniyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a medical source as saying that a man, his wife and two children were killed when a bomb blew up by their car as they drove home. The source said that the bomb was apparently targeted on a US patrol but blew up by the private car due to a timing error.

Baghdad.

Five Resistance bomb attacks target US, Iraqi puppet forces as occupation forces clamp curfews, ban on motor traffic on Baghdad to mark convocation of US-imposed “Parliament.”

In a dispatch posted at 12 noon Mecca time Thursday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that occupation forces imposed a ban on motor traffic and curfews in Baghdad beginning Thursday morning on the occasion of the convocation of the US-installed “Iraqi Parliament” in the occupied Iraqi capital.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that large numbers of US and Iraqi puppet army forces were manning checkpoints that had been set up on streets everywhere throughout the city. Swarms of helicopter gun ships and unmanned spy planes prowled the Baghdad skies.

As a result of the sharply tightened clampdown on the city, only five Resistance bombings were reported Thursday morning, all targeted on US and Iraqi puppet troops in different parts of occupied Baghdad. Due to the curfew, the correspondent was unable to obtain further details about those attacks.

In a dispatch posted at 6:20pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, the Iraqi puppet regime had lifted the ban on traffic that had been imposed on the city during the morning in preparation for the puppet “Parliament” session.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the press office of the puppet “Parliament” had issued a statement saying that the curfew had been lifted. The statement cautioned that the usual nighttime curfew would still be in force from 8pm to 6am local time.

US-backed Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigade chief calls on Iran to join US for talks on drawing up the future of Iraq.

Once again acting as an agent of the US occupation, ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-Hakim, the chief of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), whose armed wing is the nearly 30,000-man Badr Brigade militia, the backbone of the American-run puppet security forces and army in Iraq, issued a call on Wednesday to the Iranian government calling on it to respond to America’s offer to hold talks on the future of Iraq.

A source close to al-Hakim was quoted by Agence France Presse (AFP) as saying in a speech that theleadership of Iran should open a clear dialogue with the United States in order to reach an understanding with Washington on the various issues over which the two countries have differences.

AFP quoted al-Hakim as saying that he would not accept for Iraq to be turned into a base for “plots” on “neighboring countries” ミ in an obvious reference to Iran, and said that he and his pro-American forces wished to eliminate what he called “terrorist” from Iraq who he alleged “posed problems” for Iran.

Shi‘i religious leader Muqtada as-Sadr quickly quickly issued a statement declaring they disagreed strongly with the call for dialogue between Iran and the US over Iraq.

For his part al-Hakim in his speech was simply parroting a message sent by the current ruler of occupied Iraq, US Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad, five days earlier in which he called for an opening of an Iranian-US dialogue on the future of Iraq. Khalilzad claimed that contrary to what Iran had been saying the US was not interested in a sectarian partition of Iraq at all, but that this was being pushed by the “enemies” of Iraq. According to AFP, Khalilzad told the Iranians that the US did not want its differences with Iran “exported” to Iraq but warned that if Iran were to do so, the US side would “respond in a negative manner.”

On Thursday, the head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council ‘Ali Larijani announced that Tehran was ready to negotiate with the United States, to resolve problems in Iraq, AFP reported.

“We agree to negotiate with the Americans,” Larijani told the media after delivering a closed door speech to the Iranian parliament. Larijani said that Iran accepted the call of ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-Hakim for talks “to resolve the Iraqi problems and issues with the goal of creating an independent (Iraqi) government.”

Larijani did not explain how two foreign powers ミ the United States and Iran ミ could create an “independent government” of Iraq, a task that devolves on the Iraqi people.

It appears, however, that the US, as represented by the obviously coordinated diplomatic offensive by Ambassador Khalilzad and ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-Hakim, have come to perceive that the situation for the American occupation in Iraq is becoming untenable and that they have no choice but to try to save their occupation by reaching out to Iran. How likely it is that Tehran will respond to such American pleas is unclear.

Salah ad-Din Province.
At-Tarimiyah.

In a dispatch posted at 9:20pm Mecca time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces seized 350 million Iraqi dinars from an Iraqi puppet army convoy in the area of at-Tarimiyah, about 30km northwest of Baghdad, on Thursday afternoon.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the 10th battalion of the Iraqi puppet army as saying that Iraqi Resistance fighters attacked a column of the puppet troops who were transporting cash belonging to the puppet army treasury from Baghdad to northern Iraq. The source said that the fate of the four military vehicles in the money convoy is still unknown. He said that the convoy had been under a battalion commander.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in at-Tarimiyah reported that unprecedented puppet army forces were in the city following the disappearance of the money convoy.

Samarra’.

US launches biggest air offensive since 2003 invasion in preparation for massive land assault on the 700,000 people of Samarra’ and vicinity.

In a dispatch posted at 7:10pm Mecca time Thursday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces had announced that on Thursday they began the heaviest air attacks on regions in occupied Iraq since the beginning of the American occupation in spring 2003.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a US military source quoted by the American TV company CNN as saying that the air offensive was targeting areas where Resistance fighters were supposedly concentrated in the area around Samarra’. The US military said that more than 50 airplanes and 1,400 US troops and Iraqi puppet soldiers as well as 200 vehicles were to be taking part in the offensive.

The American announcement said that they expected the attacks to continue for several days as the area was being “thoroughly searched.”

US cuts off water, electricity, communications to people of Samarra’, who have no option but to barricade themselves in their houses as American offensive looms.

In a dispatch posted at 11:10pm Mecca time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the people of Samarra’ and the surrounding villages ミ who number some 700 thousand ミ have begun to feel as if they are awaiting death or arrest at the hands of the Americans and the puppet “Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” now carrying out an offensive in the area.

The Samarra’ correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the city and nearby towns and villages was witnessing unusual movement as people cover their house windows with sand bangs and stock up water and food in anticipation of a siege that could last for many long days.

Iraqi Resistance fighters in Samarra’ gave assurances to women, children, and the elderly that they would not fight any battles against the occupation between the people’s houses, lest some of the civilians be killed by the American troops.

The correspondent reported that the city is currently quiet but that this might be a temporary situation, as before a storm breaks. Nerves are tense as the electricity supply has been cut off from the city. Running water also was cut off by the US forces a few hours before this report was filed, and all communication networks were also completely shut down. Samarra’ and surrounding areas have been effectively cut off from the outside world.

Resistance bomb kills five pro-American Badr Brigade gunmen at southern entrance to Samarra’.

In a dispatch posted at 3:10pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a column of pro-American Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigade militiamen in Samarra’, some120km north of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that four pickups loaded with Badr Brigade gunmen were on their way into Samarra’ from the south when and explosion blasted one of the vehicles directly, killing all five of the Badr Brigade gunmen aboard it.

The correspondent received confirmation of the report from a medical source in the Samarra’ morgue who confirmed that bodies of Badr Brigade militiamen had been received. He added that they were identified as members of the Badr Brigades on the bases of the identity papers found in their clothing.

Diyala Province.
Ba‘qubah.

Resistance sharpshooter kills US soldier on patrol in Ba‘qubah.

In a dispatch posted at 5:10pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance marksman shot and killed a US soldier in western Ba‘qubah on Thursday morning.

The Ba‘qubah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported traffic commissioner Muhammad ad-Dalli as saying that a Resistance sharpshooter at the 40 Street intersection attacked a US foot patrol that had been going through a number of neighborhoods in the city since early in the morning. A bullet from the marksman’s weapon struck one of the US soldiers in the patrol.

The traffic commissioner said that the soldier fell to earth, his face covered in blood. His body continued to kick and convulse powerfully for several seconds before he died.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that after the attack, US forces in Ba‘qubah carried out a campaign of raids and searches, calling in more US troops so as to hit the maximum number of houses. They searched rooftops of houses and tall commercial and residential buildings but found no sign of the Resistance fighter.

Al-Khalis.

Mysterious bomb kills schoolgirls in Sunni town.

In a dispatch posted at 7:10pm Mecca time Thursday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a mysterious bomb exploded by a primary school in the area of al-Ghalibiyah of al-Khalis, some 60km north of Baghdad, killing three schoolgirls as the were on their way home.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Lieutenant Ahmad ‘Abd al-‘Aziz of the local puppet police as saying that the bomb went off near the school in the al-Khalis area at the time when schools let out. He said that three schoolgirls were killed and two more wounded in the explosion. The correspondent was unable to find any more details about the attack that aroused general outrage in the predominantly Sunni town.

Ninwa Province.
Tall ‘Afar.

Seven puppet army troops found dead.

In a dispatch posted at 5:50pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi puppet police found seven bodies of Iraqi puppet army soldiers in the northern city of Tall ‘Afar on Thursday morning.

The Tall ‘Afar correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a press release from the local puppet police as saying that a puppet police unit found the bodies, all of which had been shot in the head. The bodies were then dumped on a football field near the center of the city. Among the dead were four Iraqi puppet army officers.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that the bodies were identified by the Iraqi puppet army’s 4th division that operates under US control in northern Iraq. That division said that it had lost contact with seven of its troops after they left their base in Tall ‘Afar to go home on leave.

Mosul.

Resistance fires Katyusha rockets into US al-Ghazlani base in Mosul.

In a dispatch posted at 2pm Mecca time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired four Russian-made Katyusha rockets into the US-occupied al-Ghazlani base, the largest such facility in the city.

The Mosul correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces responded by shooting off eight artillery rounds but those inflicted no damage or casualties, because the Katyushas had been fired from vacant agricultural fields.

The correspondent reported that clouds of smoke rose form the US-occupied base but no information on the nature or extent of American casualties was available.
