Al-Anbar Province.

Ar-Ramadi.

Civilians killed as US launches massive air assault on ar-Ramadi late Thursday afternoon after cutting off power, water, fuel from city residents.

In a dispatch posted at 6:10pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier US warplanes had begun an extensive air offensive against the city of ar-Ramadi. US aircraft have been rocketing homes, farms, and former government buildings in the course of the raids.

The ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that more than 10 US F-16 and F-18 fighter bombers had stormed into the skies over the city and begun attacking peoples houses in the western and southern parts of the city.

As of the time of reporting, the American aircraft had blown up nine homes, among them houses belonging to the al-Bu Kharbit, one of the largest tribes in ar-Ramadi with a reputation of loyalty to the Iraqi Resistance.

The correspondent reported that the American planes also rocketed the building that formerly served as the headquarters of Iraqi security before the US invasion. The main train station in the city, the wholesale market, and the old post office (the last damaged by an armed group some time back) were also struck by the American warplanes.

In addition, a resident of ar-Ramadi told Mafkarat al-Islam that the American aircraft used anti-personnel cluster bombs to attack a stretch of empty desert where no one was living.

Much of Americas deadly ordnance has fallen on live targets, however, and the correspondent reported that as of the time of reporting it was known for certain that there were dead and wounded, but that an exact count was impossible to make, since getting to the ar-Ramadi General Hospital was too dangerous for either victims or journalists.

The American air offensive on ar-Ramadi, the capital of al-Anbar Province, was widely viewed in the area as an act of US collective punishment of the people of the city following the appearance of Abu Musab az-Zarqawi, a leader of the al-Qaidah-led groups of Resistance fighters in Iraq, on a video aired on Tuesday, 25 April.

Quds Press reported that residents of ar-Ramadi sensed that the US might target their city following the broadcast of the tape. The Quds Press correspondent wrote that huge waves of ar-Ramadi residents took to the roads on Wednesday 26 April, afraid that the tape, in which az-Zarqawi indicated that he was in al-Anbar Province, would produce the usually savage and indiscriminate American response.

The Quds Press correspondent in ar-Ramadi reported that transport stations were jammed on Wednesday with families clamoring to get out of the city before the onset of what they sensed would be a deadly American storm. Residents of the at-Tamim neighborhood in particular, frequently a scene of Resistance attacks, began fleeing their homes on Wednesday in large numbers.

In fact the American reprisal for the az-Zarqawi tape began before Thursday afternoons air offensive got underway. Quds Press reported that the Americans completely shut off the supply of electricity to ar-Ramadi at dawn on Thursday, and also began shutting down the water supply to city residents.

Apparently to insure that the citizens lives would be as miserable as possible, the American forces closed the ar-Ramadi Clinic, transferring the facilitys maternity ward to the city of al-Fallujah.

The US occupation forces also closed down all fuel stations in ar-Ramadi at dawn on Thursday, throwing the residents of the city into a fuel crisis that sent the price of a liter of gasoline up to 3,000 Iraqi Dinars about US$2 per liter (or approximately $7.58 per US gallon).

Further confirmation that the Americans were intending to launch an offensive on the city came when the Americans began posting snipers atop 14 buildings whose owners had fled the day before. The homes were located on al-Kass Street, the market street, and in the al-Iskan and al-Muallimin neighborhoods large sections in the center of the city.

During the day on Thursday, US forces also constructed a dirt road outside of ar-Ramadi, beginning at the eastern approach to the city and ending at the nearby American base. Local residents believed the path was a sure sign that the US would be launching a major assault on their city, for it was positioned to enable American troops to avoid entering the city proper.

Resistance fighters battle US troops in downtown ar-Ramadi.

In a dispatch posted at 3:50pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce fighting erupted between Iraqi Resistance forces and US occupation troops in the al-Malab neighborhood of ar-Ramadi, about 110km west of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the al-Bu Jabir area of al-Malab as saying that the fighting broke out when Resistance fighters armed with light and medium weapons, ambushed a column of US forces in the neighborhood.

Eyewitnesses said that two US military vehicles were destroyed in the battle, which lasted over an hour. Seven American occupation soldiers were killed or wounded and three Resistance fighters were also injured before the Resistance attackers withdrew from the scene.

After the battle, US troops surrounded the al-Malab neighborhood and evacuated the bodies of their dead and hauled away the wreckage of their vehicles.

Hit.

Three US troops reported killed in double bombing in western Hit.

In a dispatch posted at 11:40am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that two Iraqi Resistance bombs exploded by a US military column on the main road in the west of the city of Hit, about 140km northwest of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in Hit as saying that the Resistance planted two bombs by the side of the main road near the gas works in the west of the city. The first bomb went off as the US column was driving past, disabling a Humvee and killing one American soldier and wounding two more of them. The blast also brought the column to a halt, at which time a the second bomb exploded, damaging a vehicle in the column and killing two more US troops and wounding another.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance bombards US checkpoint in Amiriyat al-Fallujah, Wednesday evening.

In a dispatch posted at 9:35am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired two 82mm mortar rounds into a US occupation check point in Amiriyat al-Fallujah, 7km southwest of al-Fallujah, at 8pm local time Wednesday evening.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the barrage scored direct hits on the US checkpoint at the entrance to the housing complex in Amiriyat al-Fallujah.

Al-Qaim.

Four US troops reported killed in Katyusha attack on US camp near al-Qaim.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired a barrage of Katyusha rockets into the American base in the western part of the al-Karabilah area near al-Qaim in western Iraq near the Syrian frontier on Thursday morning.

Local eyewitnesses told the Quds Press correspondent that the rocket bombardment set off a number of powerful explosions inside the American-occupied facility. Information gathered from several parallel sources inside the US base said that four American troops and six Iraqi puppet National Guards were killed in the attack.

After the barrage, heightened security measures were in evidence around the American camp. US forces sent out numerous patrols in various parts of the city, but the US command made no immediate comment on the attack.

Abu Ghurayb.

Resistance Katyusha rockets blast notorious Abu Ghurayb prison camp.

In a dispatch posted at 6:40pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that for the first time in at least two months, nine Iraqi Resistance Katyusha rockets blasted into the notorious Abu Ghurayb prison camp, 30km west of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported seeing the rockets slamming into the prison. The barrage, which lasted a quarter of an hour saw Katyusha rockets blasting the southern and western parts of the American prison camp, the areas of the facility where American occupation troops are located.

Four explosions shook the facility, sending plumes of thick black smoke rising into the sky. US helicopter gun ships could be seen hovering over the prison after the attack.

The correspondent reported that the Resistance rockets had totally demolished the southern A3 observation tower in the American camp, where two Marines were stationed. That structure was completely demolished. An American helicopter was seen landing inside the compound, perhaps to help with rescue and recovery of casualties.

US patrols were deployed in the environs of the camp after the attack, for fear that the Resistance might launch a ground assault following the rocket barrage.

Eyewitnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that minutes before the Resistance rocket assault, Resistance fighters had warned the itinerant street vendors in the area in front of a fuel station located near the prison that they must get out of the area immediately because the Americans would be likely to come out and arrest them after the attack if they remained there.

The correspondent reported that rumors in the street maintained that the Asar as-Sunnah Resistance organization had carried out the rocket attack, but that there had so far been no official announcement by the organization.

Baghdad.

Resistance barrage targets headquarters of puppet Wolf Brigade Thursday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 10:10pm Makkah time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces unleashed a mortar barrage on an Iraqi puppet army camp, the headquarters of the elite Wolf Brigade in southern Baghdad on Thursday afternoon.

The source disclosed that eight puppet troops were killed in the barrage, including a captain in the puppet Wolf Brigade.

The source said that US helicopters set off after the Resistance attackers but in the end the Americans were unable to capture them.

The correspondent reported eyewitnesses as saying that extremely intense fires raged in the camp after the barrage for about an hour until fire department personnel and equipment arrived to extinguish the blazes. Iraqi ambulances could be seen entering the camp after the attack.

In a dispatch posted at 10:40am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by an Iraqi puppet army column in the northern Baghdad suburb of at-Taji on the main road to the center of the occupied Iraqi capital.

In a dispatch posted at 9:45am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters shot and killed Maysun al-Hashimi the sister of the puppet Iraqi Vice President Dr. Tariq al-Hashimi.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that unknown men armed with machine guns mowed down Maysun al-Hashimi, the sister of puppet Vice President who is also the General Secretary of the collaborationist Iraqi Islamic Party.

The Iraqi Islamic Party was formed just after the US occupation of Iraq in 2003 out of members of the Sunni fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood organization. It collaborated with US proconsul L. Paul Bremer, taking a seat on his puppet Governing Council, and has remained a part of the American-run political establishment ever since.

The Resistance fighters ambushed al-Hashimi in southern Baghdads as-Sayyidiyah district, killing her instantly, and then withdrawing from the scene. Maysun al-Hashimi worked in the womans section of the Islamic Party.

Muhammad al-Hashimi, the brother of puppet Vice President al-Hashimi was killed in an armed attack on prominent Sunni businessmen in Baghdads as-Sanak district on 13 April.

Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq denounces latest US-imposed sectarian puppet Government, noting that only by ending the occupation can Iraqs problems be solved.

The Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq, the highest Sunni Muslim religious authority in occupied Iraq, issued a statement on Thursday denouncing the incoming US-installed puppet Government under puppet Prime Minister Jawad al-Maliki as yet another step towards the American goal of splitting up Iraq along sectarian and ethnic lines.

The statement, published on the Associations website, noted that at the beginning of each one of the American-run political campaigns the Association warned against the American plan to split up the country on sectarian and ethnic lines, with all the unenviable consequences that entails, such as the establishment of a fragile, weak state that is incapable of pulling itself out of the bottleneck in which Iraq now finds itself and unable to arrive at any security and stability.

The Association statement said that the participants in every one of the American-led political campaigns have claimed every time that this is an emergency arrangement and that the sectarian political system being imposed on Iraq by the American occupation will not be the final system in the country. But the Association has warned the Iraqi people each time that these claims are only pretexts under which Iraqis are being drawn gradually to accept the system of apportioning of political positions according to religious and ethnic affiliation, a system of sectarian and ethnic partition that in the end is supposed to become a fait accompli.

Today we face the formation of a government with a four-year term. After elections that the occupation ran with skill, and four months of squabbling over political positions, those politicians are bringing what they themselves call a deal aimed at securing what the occupation has been planning for: the ethnic and religious partition of Iraq. They began this with the first apportioning of political positions on this fragile basis and will continue doing this with the rest of the political posts. It is indeed a deal a deal from which the occupation and those who follow its path will profit, but from which all the communities that make up the Iraqi people will come out as losers.

The Association said that it appeared that the new puppet government would only offer more of the same as what has come before under the American occupation and its puppet regimes.

Impelled by our religious responsibility and our patriotic and historic duty, we are compelled to declare this bitter truth, despite the painful situation in which we find ourselves, so that our people may understand that there is no light at the end of the tunnel unless they work to end the problem of the occupation with all legitimate means. Despite the fact that many of them went to the ballot boxes and expressed their determination to prevent a system of apportioning and dividing government posts according to religious and ethnic affiliation, the occupation only does what it wants and what is in accord with its own agenda and interests preventing the Iraqi people from attaining what is in their own interest, namely the establishment of an independent and stable fully sovereign state.
