? US seals off al-Hadithah from outside world, launching sweep to “purge” city of supposed al-Qa‘idah fighters.

In a dispatch posted at 10:50am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces sealed off the city of al-Hadithah, about 300km northwest of Baghdad, at dawn on Thursday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces completely encircled the city at dawn, preventing anyone from entering or exiting the city. Inside al-Hadithah, US forces imposed a curfew, completely closing schools and government departments.

The US occupation troops distributed leaflets around the city calling on residents to inform on any members of the al-Qa‘idah Resistance organization who might be there, and claiming to have intelligence information indicating that large numbers of al-Qa‘idah personnel were in the city. The American leaflets said that the US forces were intending to “purge” the city of the al-Qa‘idah fighters.

Ar-Ramadi.

? US snipers shoot four primary school students dead, prompting authorities to postpone final exams for all schools in ar-Ramadi indefinitely.

In a dispatch posted at 10:55am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the puppet authorities in ar-Ramadi, the capital of western Iraq’s al-Anbar Province, had announced that final exams for school children at all levels ミ primary school, middle school, and high school ミ would be postponed because of the “deterioration of the security situation in the city.”

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Dr. ‘Abd ar-Rahman ad-Dulaymi, the assistant director for education in al-Anbar Province as saying that the decision came after four primary school students were shot dead by American snipers when they came out of their school. We therefore decided to postpone the final exams indefinitely, until further notice, in order to protect the lives of the students.

Abu Ghurayb.

? Resistance attacks in Abu Ghurayb leave one US soldier reported dead, four wounded Thursday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 1:15pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces carried out two attacks on US occupation troops in the Abu Ghurayb area, about 30km west of Baghdad on Thursday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance marksman shot and seriously wounded a US Marine in Abu Ghurayb Thursday morning according to a source in the Iraqi puppet police. The soldier, who was hit in the neck, was evacuated by helicopter to the US military hospital in the Kharnabat area of Abu Ghurayb. Afterwards, US troops searched nearby buildings but found no sign of the Resistance sharpshooter.

In a second incident, an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by US foot patrol in the az-Zaytun area near the al-Baha’ Markets in the middle of Abu Ghurayb. One American soldier was killed and three more wounded in various degrees of severity by the explosion. Eyewitnesses said US troops surrounded the scene of the attack for two hours, from 11am until 1pm local time, as they evacuated the dead and wounded men to their headquarters near the notorious Abu Ghurayb prison.

Baghdad.

? Resistance bombards US headquarters in Saddam International Airport.

In a dispatch posted at 12:25pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired three rockets at the western side of Saddam International Airport west of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses of the al-Furat neighborhood located near the airport as saying that they saw three rockets blast into the western part of the airport, the area where one of the American commands is located. The witnesses said that plumes of smoke rose over the airport following the attack and swarms of helicopters came and hovered over the area.

Salah ad-Din Province.

Tikrit.

? Leader of collaborationist Turkoman Front abducted.

In a dispatch posted at1:17pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier Iraqi Resistance forces had abducted the chairman of the Iraqi Turkoman Front and three of his companions on the road between the city of Tuz and Tikrit, about 180km north of Baghdad.

The Tikrit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that the Resistance fighters took the Turcoman leader Kirwan Sarmad from his car and drove off with him in vehicles owned by the Iraqi Resistance.

After the attack, large numbers of US and Iraqi puppet troops surrounded the areas and shut down roads. At the time of reporting they were still engaged in a manhunt for Sarmad and his three companions. The Iraqi Turkoman Front has been working within the US-installed political institutions to secure a position for itself in the political system under the occupation.

Babil Province.

Al-Latifiyah.

? US, puppet forces advance on al-Latifiyah Thursday night.

In a dispatch posted at 9:20pm Makkah time Thursday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US troops accompanied by their Iraqi puppet army allies were launching another military sweep in the city of al-Latifiyah, some 30km southwest of Baghdad, at the time of reporting.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that dozens of US military vehicles were advancing into the city backed up by swarms of helicopter gun ships in the air over the city.

? Nighttime fighting rages in al-Latifiyah ending at dawn Thursday.

In a dispatch posted at 11:05am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce but intermittent fighting raged between Iraqi Resistance forces and Iraqi puppet army troops backed up by US helicopter gunships in the city of al-Latifiyah, from Wednesday night until dawn on Thursday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local residents as saying that the Resistance engaged the puppet army’s 8th Division as the puppet troops were engaged in a campaign of mass arrests of men in the city.

Four puppet army vehicles were completely destroyed in the course of the fighting and 15 Iraqi puppet troops killed according to an official source in the al-Latifiyah puppet police. Twelve more puppet troops were wounded the source revealed.

The Iraqi puppet army itself acknowledged that it had come under attack during the night in an attempt, claiming that the Resistance attacked was aimed at freeing Mahmud ‘Abdallah al-Juhayshi, allegedly an aide to Abu Mus‘ab az-Zarqawi, who had been arrested in a local house. The puppet army spokesman said that that puppet 8th Division called in support from US forces and said that it was the American assistance that foiled the plans of the Resistance.

The correspondent reported local residents as saying that US troops entered the city along with the puppet troops and with the backing of helicopter gun ships and war planes. The US forces were still there at the time the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent filed his report.

Al-Yusufiyah.

? Resistance car bomber blasts US column Wednesday night.

In a dispatch posted at 12:40pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter drove a car bomb into a US military column in the al-Qasr al-Awsat area of al-Yusufiyah, 30km southwest of Baghdad, late on Wednesday night.

The al-Yusufiyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that an Iraqi Resistance fighter driving a Caprice car exploded as a US military column drove through the area at about 10pm local time Wednesday night. The blast destroyed one American military vehicle, killing several US troops and wounding others.

The witnesses said hat American helicopters landed near the area where the attack took place as US troops surrounded and closed off the scene for four hours. Because the attack took place during the nighttime hours of curfew, no further details on the nature or extent of casualties were available.

At-Ta’mim Province.

Kirkuk.

? US launches wave of mass arrests Thursday morning, kill youth who was speeding.

In a dispatch posted at 2pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces launched a campaign of mass arrests in the city of ar-Riyad, about 25km southwest of Kirkuk in northern Iraq on Thursday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces accompanied by their Iraqi puppet army allies raided the city of ar-Riyad, arresting 22 individuals, ranging in age from 17 to 50 years. In the course of their three hours of raids, US toops confiscated religious books and papers as well as computers.

The Americans also killed a youth whom they saw speeding in his car. The youth was unaware that there were US forces carrying out raids and searches at the end of the street, but the Americans assumed he was a Resistance attacker headed towards them in an explosive-laden car. No attacks on the Americans took place during the time the occupation soldiers were engaged in their roundups.

Ninwa Province.

Tall ‘Afar.

? American troops arrest 40 local men in Tall ‘Afar houses as Iraqi puppet army men help themselves to their personal valuables and possessions.

In a dispatch posted at 4:35pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces accompanied by their Iraqi puppet army alliescarried out a campaign of raids, searches and arrests in several largely Sunni neighborhoods of the city of Tall ‘Afar, west of al-Mawsil in northern Iraq.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported dozens of US military vehicles stormed into the neighborhoods of as-Saray, al-‘Urubah, and al-Qadisiyah and arrested specific people whose names were on a list. Forty local individuals were arrested in the raids. Meanwhile, the Iraqi puppet army troops robbed the houses that the Americans raided, stealing personal possessions in the more than 70 houses that they raided. Gold jewelry, currency in the amount of millions of Iraqi dinars and other valuables were looted from the homes by the Iraqi puppet army troops. An Iraqi woman whose husband was arrested in the raid told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Shi‘i sectarians who make up the bulk of the Iraqi puppet army troops believe that robbing the houses of Sunnis is a legitimate form of taking plunder from an enemy.

Al-Mawsil.

? Iraqi Resistance bomb blasts US Stryker vehicle in al-Mawsil Thursday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military patrol on the Left (northeast) Bank side of the northern Iraqi city of al-Mawsil at about 9am local time Thursday morning.

The correspondent for Quds Press reported eyewitnesses as saying that the bomb, located in the industrial zone of al-Mawsil, exploded as a US patrol was driving past. The explosion destroyed a US Stryker armored vehicle.

The witnesses saw the Sryker inflames but were unable to provide information on the nature or extent of US casualties in the attack because American forces quickly surrounded the attack zone and prevented anyone from approaching to look.

Resistance mortar barrage kills four puppet policemen in al-Mawsil at dawn Thursday.

In a dispatch posted at 11:30am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired three mortar rounds into the al-Yarmuk puppet police station in the northern Iraqi city of al-Mawsil (Mosul) at 6am local time Thursday morning.

The al-Mawsil correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that the barrage killed four puppet policemen and wounded five more of them. The injured men were taken to the city hospital for treatment.

A medical source in al-Hudaba’ Hospital in al-Mawsil told Mafkarat al-Islam that his facility had received the bodies of four puppet policemen, one an officer, and in addition five more puppet policemen were admitted for treatment, two of them in serious condition.

Al-Basrah Province.

? British arrest local residents on suspicion of involvement in Resistance attacks.

In a dispatch posted at 11:57am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that British troops carried out a campaign of raids, searches, and arrests in a large number of areas where Sunnis live in the city lf a-Basrah during Wendnesday night and through dawn on Thursday.

The al-Basrah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that British troops arrested 13 Sunni residents on charges of attacking British forces. The correspondent reported that the British also arrested about five Shi‘i residents.
