Resistance rockets blast into US-occupied al-Habbaniyah base.

In a dispatch posted at 2:40pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, Iraqi Resistance forces had fired two medium-range rockets into the US-occupied base in al-Habbaniyah, 69km west of Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the al-Madinah neighborhood of al-Habbaniyah as sayig that the rockets scored direct hits on the base, sending plumes of smoke rising into the sky. US helicopters flew in over the facility and surrounding areas after the barrage.

Ar-Ramadi.

Midnight fighting rages in ar-Ramadi.

In a dispatch posted at 11:20am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce fighting raged between Iraqi Resistance forces and US occupation troops in the 17 Tammuz Street area and the ad-Dubbat neighborhood of the city of ar-Ramadi, about 110km west of Baghdad during the night just after midnight on Thursday morning. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported the combat broke out in both areas at 12:30am local time Thursday morning and about an hour and a half. The sound of explosions and gunfire reverberated through the area but little information on the nature or extent of casualties was available. Local residents said that the wreckage of one totally destroyed Humvee could be seen for a while in the middle of a street in the ad-Dubbat neighborhood area. At the time of reporting, US forces were still completely surrounding the two areas of 17 Tammuz Street and ad-Dubbat.

Secretary of Russian Security Council: Russia has not given up hope regarding captive diplomats.

In a bulletin posted at 7:01pm Thursday evening Moscow time, the Russian news agency RIA-Novosti reported the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Igor’ Ivanov as declaring that, “All Russian departments connected with the work to secure the release of the staff members of the Embassy of the Russian Federation abducted in Iraq are undertaking the efforts necessary to achieve that aim. Speaking to journalists in Minsk, Belarus, on Thursday, Ivanov said “by the commission of the President of Russia everything necessary is being done for the favorable resolution of the situation with the hostages. All structures and all departments that have any involvement in this issue are undertaking the necessary efforts,” the Security Council Secretary said. According to him, the Russian side has not lost hope that a favorable outcome of the situation regarding he hostages is still possible.

Al-Qa‘idah announces that it has killed Russian hostages.

In a dispatch posted at 3:40pm Makkah time Thursday afternon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that in a declaration on the Internet, the al-Qa‘idah organization in the Land of the Two Rivers declared that it had killed four Russian hostages who were kidnapped from a Russian Embassy car in Baghdad on 3 June. In that attack, a fifth Russian Embassy staffer was also murdered. Al-Jazeera satellite TV as monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam reported al-Qa‘idah as saying that they killed the Russians, one of them a Muslim, because the Russian government was not meeting the kidnappers’ demands that a part of Russia be given its independence.

Russia engaged in talks to try to free abducted diplomats.

Talks to free four Russian diplomats kidnapped in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, almost three weeks ago have produced some progress, Sergei Mironov, the speaker of the Russian parliament’s upper chamber said Thursday, according to a dispatch from the Russian news agency RIA-Novosti posted at 1:40pm Moscow time. Speaker Mironov said, “Talks are under way and we are searching for ways to resolve the problem.” He said that discussions in an on-line regime were underway round the clock. “We are looking for new contacts and opportunities. The leadership of this country is making every effort to release its citizens,” he said, condemning the crime as “inhuman.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry declared on Thursday that Russia was still working to secure the release of the four Russian Embassy staff members. “Russia is making unceasing efforts for the release of the staff members of the Embassy taken hostage in Iraq; but it does not believe it expedient to reveal the details of these efforts,” the Foreign Ministry Department of Information and the Press told RIA-Novosti. Mikhail Kamynin, the official spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, said Wednesday that the Mujahideen Shura Council, a group linked to the al-Qaeda cell in Iraq that claimed responsibility for the abduction, had sentenced the diplomats to death. The Foreign Ministry appealed again Wednesday for the immediate release of four diplomats, saying in a statement that they were “representatives of the Russian people, who have never waged a war against Islam anywhere.” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier that information about hostages had been coming in regularly and its reliability had been checked. Russian diplomat Vitaly Titov was killed during the attack on an embassy car in the capital of Iraq on June 3. The kidnappers seized Fyodor Zaitsev, third secretary of the embassy, and also diplomats Rinat Agliulin, Anatoly Smirnov and Oleg Fedoseyev.

Resistance bombards Badr Brigade headquarters in Baghdad’s ash-Shu‘lah district.

In a dispatch posted at 8:11pm Makkah time Thursday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired four mortar rounds into the headquarters of the pro-American Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigades in the ash-Shu‘lah district of northwest Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that ambulances raced to the scene of the attack on a Sunni mosque that the Badr Brigade pro-American sectarians had taken over and turned into their local headquarters two years ago. The witnesses said that the barrage left Badr Brigade gunmen dead and wounded but an exact count was impossible to ascertain.

Resistance rocket destroys puppet army tank, killing four Iraqi puppet troops.

In a dispatch posted at 3:40pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, Iraqi Resistance forces had fired a rocket destroying an Iraqi puppet army B52 tank in central Baghdad’s al-Yarmuk district near the train station. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported from the scene that four Iraqi puppet army soldiers were killed in the attack and that the hulk of the tank was still ablaze. He Iraqi puppet troops began firing indiscriminately at pedestrians in the area after coming under attack. Two local residents were wounded by the puppet army troops’ gunfire.

US military admits five Americans killed in 48 hours.

In a dispatch posted at 2:50pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US military officially admitted Thursday that five American troops, including four US Marines had been killed in various Resistance attacks throughout Iraq in the previous two days. Al-Jazeera satellite TV, as monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam reported an American statement as saying three of the four Marines were killed in a Resistance bomb explosion in al-Anbar Province, while the fourth Marine died in a gun battle with Resistance fighters. The fifth death that the US military admitted occurred when an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded “south of Baghdad” on Wednesday. The US military concealed all other details of the location and circumstances of the battle deaths.

US, Iraqi puppet troops deploy to search for kidnapped government factory workers.

In a dispatch posted at 2pm Makkah time Thursday afternon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that large numbers of Iraqi puppet troops and US occupation forces deployed in the northern Baghdad suburb of at-Taji at dawn to search for factory workers abducted by unknown armed men on Wednesday. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi puppet police as saying that the campaign was aimed at finding and freeing the captive workers who were employed by the puppet regime making barbed wire and cement barricades used in the American war against the Iraqi Resistance. The source said that the number of hostage government workers was said to be 92, after the captors released a large number of women and two bus drivers. The drivers, paid a daily wage to transport the workers to the government-run factories, were not directly working for the plant.

Resistance bomb blasts US patrol in ad-Durah Thursday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 1:55pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah on Tursday morning. The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in ad-Durah as saying that the bomb, which had been planted on the road to al-Mahdiyah went off by a patrol of five American Humvees. The blast destroyed one Humvee, wounding three US troops, witnesses said.

Resistance bomb blasts puppet “Shock Troops” in south Baghdad’s as-Sayyidiyah neighborhood.

In a dispatch posted at 1:50pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a patrol of puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” in the southern Baghdad area of as-Sayyidiyah. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the as-Sayyidiyah neighborhood as saying tha the bomb on the main road in the area destroyed one “Shock Troop” patrol vehicle, killing one of the puppet “Shock Troops” and wounding four more of them.

US soldier reported killed in Resistance bombing south of at-Tarimiyah.

In a dispatch posted at 2:50pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column on the road south of at-Tarimiyah on the way to the northern Baghdad suburb of at-Taji. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported from at-Tarimiyah, about 30km north of Baghdad, that eyewitnesses had said that the bomb destroyed one truck hauling military materiel. The US soldier who was driving the truck was killed, the witnesses said.

Resistance bomb in Tikrit leaves US intelligence agent reported dead.

In a dispatch posted at 10:50am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US intelligence column in Tikrit. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the city as saying that the bomb exploded by the side of the road running from the house of Khayr ad-Din Talfah (President Saddam Husayn’s maternal uncle) ミ which US intelligence agents have turned into their local headquarters ミ to the main road in the middle of Tikrit. Witnesses said that the bomb went off as a column of US military intelligence people was driving past. The explosion destroyed one of the armor-plated vehicles in the column, killing one US intelligence man and wounding three more of them.

Ba‘qubah.

Bomb rips through puppet “Iraqi National Guard” patrol in Ba‘qubah.

In a dispatch posted at 11:45am Makkah time Thursday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a puppet “Iraqi National Guard” patrol in western Ba‘qubah, about 65km northeast of Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in Ba‘qubah as saying that the bomb went off by the side of the road to al-Mafraq, destroying a Hino patrol vehicle and killing or wounding six puppet “Iraqi National Guards.”

Resistance bomb blasts puppet “Iraqi National Guards” Thursday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 2:55pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a column of puppet “Iraqi National Guards” on the main road south of al-Latifiyah, about 30km south of Baghdad, on Thursday morning. The al-Latifiyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that the bomb on the Muwaylihah Road exploded by a puppet “National Guard” column, destroying a “Guard” pickup and killing two puppet “Guardsmen” and wounding four more of them.

Kirkuk.

Two US soldiers wounded in grenade attack southwest of Kirkuk.

In a dispatch posted at 12:40pm Makkah time Thursday afternon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fighter hurled an incendiary hand grenade at a US patrol on the main road in the town of ar-Riyad, about 25km southwest of Kirkuk in northern Iraq. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in ar-Riyad as saying that the grenade attack damaged one American Humvee, wounding two US soldiers.

Al-Hawijah.

Resistance bombards US-occupied Tall al-Ward base in al-Hawijah Wednesday night.

In a dispatch posted at 3pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired four heavy 120mm mortar rounds into the US military headquarters in al-Hawijah, southwest of Kirkuk in northern Iraq Wednesday evening. The al-Hawijah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that the barrage targeted the US-occupied Tall al-Ward camp in the city, scoring direct hits on the facility and sending plumes of smoke rising into the sky.

Four US Marines reported killed in Resistance bombing in al-Mawsil.

In a dispatch posted at 5:50pm Makkah time Thursday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded under a group of US Marines in the Industrial Zone of the northern Iraqi city of al-Mawsil at 1pm local time midday Thursday. The al-Mawsil correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a captain in the First Battalion of the Iraqi puppet army who asked not to be identified said that a Resistance bomb that had been planted under an opening in a rain-water drain blew up in the Industrial Zone, destroying an American military vehicle and killing four US Marines. The correspondent reported owners of car repair garages and machine shops in the area where the attack took place as saying that the American occupation forces arrested nine local men who happened to be near the blast, one of them in fact was himself wounded in the explosion.

Tall ‘Afar.

US soldier reported killed when Resistance fighters ambush US foot patrol in Tall ‘Afar Wednesday evening.

In a dispatch posted at 2:15pm Makkah time Thursday afternon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters attacked a US foot patrol in the middle of Tall ‘Afar, west of al-Mawsil in northern Iraq, on Wednesday evening. The Tall ‘Afar correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that Resistance fighters armed with light and medium weapons attacked the patrol, killing one American soldier and wounding three more of them. One Resistance fighter was also wounded in the engagement before the Resistance fighters managed to withdraw.

In a dispatch posted at 4:50pm Makkah time Thursday afternon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that pro-American Kurdish separatist Peshmergah militias and puppet security forces in the northern Iraqi city of Irbil declared a general alarm after receiving news that 12 car bombs were coming to the city from al-Mawsil. The Irbil correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported an exclusive source in the Peshmergah as saying that the Americans had received information about 12 booby-trapped cars and fida’i fighters who had arrived in the city on Wednesday night. The source said that the Resistance attackers were supposed to be planning to attack the south Korean forces and bases of the pro-American Kurdish separatist parties and militias in Irbil.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that Kurdish separatist forces were running patrols and had set up checkpoints and amushes all along the ring road around Irbil beginning on Thursday morning, while local people were apprehensive about the news as broadcast by the puppet regime. The source said that the Peshmergah militia had an intensive search under way for Warya Irbili who was suspected of being a member of the Jaysh Ansar as-Sunnah Resistance group an active in the area, according to the puppet security organs. Arab residents of the predominantly Kurdish area have been subjected to various types of restriction and repressions in order to force them to leave the area which the pro-American Kurdish separatists seek to ethnically “cleanse” of Arabs in keeping with the American plan to partition Iraq along sectarian and ethnic lines.
