Hit.

Population of Hit under curfew for second day cut off from water, electricity, food, fuel.

In a dispatch posted at 3:51pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces sealed off the city of Hit, about 170km northwest of Baghdad on Sunday morning and began a campaign of mass arrests, rounding up dozens of youths in the city. The Hit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that American troops closed all the four exits from the city, placing massive cement road blocks and earthen barriers up and down the eastern and western borders of the city. They also imposed a curfew on most parts of the city.

The Americans have refused passage into the city to the peasants who every day truck their vegetables into the city. Gasoline tankers have also been barred from entering the city and the Americans shut off the running water and electricity from the population, leaving them largely without fuel, food, water, or electric power.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that local residents expect the Americans to make more arrests Monday afternoon and evening, particularly after news spread that the US forces intend to interrogate every youth and man in the city in the wake of the Resistance activity there over the past two weeks.

Al-Karmah.

Resistance sharpshooter kills two puppet “Iraqi National Guards” in al-Karmah.

In a dispatch posted at 11:05am Makkah time Monday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance marksman shot and killed two puppet “Iraqi National Guards” in the al-Karmah area east of al-Fallujah.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in al-Karmah as saying that the two men were on a patrol near the big mosque in al-Karmah when both took direct hits from a Resistance sharpshooter’s bullets, one after the other, and died instantly. After the attack the Iraqi puppet forces launched a campaign of mass arrests of local people, rounding up 25 local youths on charges of attacking US and Iraqi puppet troops.

Al-Baghdadi.

Resistnace fires Katyusha rockets in to US-occupied ‘Ayn al-Asad Air Base.

In a dispatch posted at 10:55am Makkah time Monday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired four medium-range Katyusha rockets into the US military headquarters in the ‘Ayn al-Asad Air Base in the town of al-Baghdadi, nearly 200km northwest of Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in al-Baghdadi as saying that the barrage sent plumes of smoke billowing into the sky from within the base as US helicopters flew in and hovered over the base and vicinity at low altitudes.

The explosion disabled a Humvee but no information on the nature or extent of US casualties was available since the nighttime curfew was in force at the time of the attack.

Baghdad.

Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi assaults Sunni district of Baghdad as US-Zionist backed drive to split Iraq on religious lines continues.

In a dispatch posted at 5:55pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that dozens of Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi militiamen were at the time of reporting engaged in an assault on place 423 in the ad-Dawli‘i district of Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of ad-Dawli‘i as saying that a number of local residents of the predominantly Sunni district had been killed. As a part of their assault, the Shi‘i sectarian gunmen were bombarded the mosque in the district with mortar shells.

In a dispatch posted at 7:50pm Makkah time Monday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that in the first 15 minutes of their attack, the Shi‘i sectarians had abducted two local Sunni youths named Muhannad and ‘Umar and killed two others. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported about a quarter of an hour into the sectarian attack Iraqi Resistance fighters intervened to counter attack. The Resistance men killed nine of the Shi‘i sectarian attackers and fired shoulder-launched rockets, setting fire to three of their vehicles.

The Resistance men also liberated Muhannad and ‘Umar from the sectarian gunmen while also taking two of the gunmen prisoner. At the time of reporting the correspondent, who was personally on the scene, said that the attackers’ vehicles were still ablaze near the ‘Abbudi market in the middle of the area. US helicopters were flying over ad-Dawli‘i, and there were reports that a force of American and Iraqi puppet troops was advancing on the neighborhood, as they frequently do following Shi‘i sectarian gang attacks.

The Americans and their puppet army allies then frequently set about trying to disarm and capture the defenders of the Sunni neighborhoods. The Shi‘i sectarian militia, which is loyal to Shi‘i cleric Muqtada as-Sadr formerly opposed the US occupation of Iraq but when members of the movement were included in the most recent US-backed puppet government, the Jaysh al-Mahdi took on the role of another sectarian militia supporting the American occupation regime while working to aggravate sectarian strife with the Sunni population as a step towards partition of the country..

Efforts to split Iraq along religious and ethnic lines ミ which often are masked under language about forming an Iraqi “federation” ミ are consistent with plans hatched by US and Zionist politicians and reflected recently by Leslie Gelb (President Emeritus of the US Council on Foreign Relations) in “The Three-State Solution” published in The New York Times on 25 November 2003, in the article by Gelb and US Democratic Senator Joseph Biden in “Unity through Autonomy in Iraq,” in The New York Times on 1 May 2006.

Banking on splitting the Shi‘ah in Iraq from the rest of the country was a cornerstone of the neo-Conservative strategy laid out in “A Clean Break” a paper drawn up by American Zionist government officials Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, David Wurmser, and Paul Wolfowitz in 200 for the then Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

But before the recent period, the idea of “the dissolution of Iraq into a Shi‘ite state, a Sunni state and the separation of the Kurdish part” was voiced by veternan Zionist military correspondent Ze’ev Schiff in Ha'aretz on 2 June 1982 and was a part of the divide-and-rule strategy laid out by Zionist writer Oded Yinon in his “Strategy for Israel in the 1980s,” published in Kivunim (Directions), A Journal for Judaism and Zionism, published by the World Zionist Organization in occupied Jerusalem in February 1982. (It was translated by the late anti-Zionist writer and activist Israel Shahak and is widely available.)

Resistance car bomber waits for check point to be clear of civilian cars, then strikes, leaving seven puppet “Shock Troops” dead.

In a bulletin posted at 4:25pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, a violent explosion shook western parts of Baghdad when an Iraqi Resistance car bomber blasted into a checkpoint manned by puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” in al-‘Amiriyah. The al-‘Amiriyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the checkpoint on the Airport Road was hit by a Resistance fida’i fighter driving an explosives-laden car into the patrol at the checkpoint.

The Resistance man waited to attack for five minutes until the checkpoint was clear of cars of innocent civilians going through inspection; then he struck. Witnesses said that the number of dead had so far risen to seven puppet “Shock Troops” after one more body had been extracted from under the concrete barricades that had been scattered about the area by the force of the blast.

Quds Press reported that the bomber blew up the bus near one of the main gates of al-Muthanna Airfield, adding that US troops surrounded the area after the attack and prevented anyone from entering. Ambulances were seen evacuating the dead and wounded.

Al-Muthanna Airport, which is used by the Iraqi puppet regime as a recruiting station, is under a very tight security regime, Quds Press reported, designed to prevent Resistance fida’i fighters from getting in.
