Al-Anbar Province.

Resistance, Iraqi puppet forces engage in combat near the Saudi border in western Iraq’s al-Anbar Province Saturday night.

In a dispatch posted at 8:37pm Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce fighting was going on at that hour between Iraqi Resistance fighters and Iraqi puppet regime forces in the ‘Ar‘ar region of western Iraq’s al-Anbar Province near the Saudi border.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet “Iraqi Defense Ministry” as saying that the fighting was centered around desert wells near ‘Ar‘ar and that a puppet “border guard” unit was engaged in combat with a number of Resistance fighters. No further details were immediately available.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance mounts attacks on US forces in al-Fallujah Saturday.

In a dispatch posted at 8:20pm Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces carried out several attacks on American occupation troops in al-Fallujah on Saturday.

The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a Resistance bomb exploded under a US patrol in the an-Nazal neighborhood, destroying a Humvee. After that attack US forces sealed off the neighborhoods of an-Nazal, ash-Shuhada’ and al-Jubayl.

Resistance fighters ambushed a US foot patrol before noon Saturday sparking a gunbattle that left two Resistance men dead. No information on the nature or extent of American casualties in that engagement was available.

In a third attack, the headquarters of the collaborationist “Islamic Party,” whose chief took a seat on the puppet “Iraqi governing council” set up by US proconsul L. Paul Bremer after the US invasion, was hit by a barrage of rocket-propelled grenades on Saturday.

Violent battle in al-Fallujah leaves three US soldiers reported dead.

In a dispatch posted at 7:30pm Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a violent clash had taken place between Iraqi Resistance men and US troops near the ar-Rawi Mosque in the middle of al-Fallujah.

The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported worshippers in the mosque who witnessed the fighting as saying that the battle lasted about half an hour and left three US troops dead and four more wounded. The Americans responded violently and indiscriminately to the ambush, killing and wounding a number of worshippers in the mosque. Staff at the mosque used the loudspeaker system in the building to call for ambulances.

US forces closed off the area where the combat took place and that part of the city remained closed at the time of reporting.

US seals off al-Fallujah, launches mass raids and arrests.

In a dispatch posted at 11:45am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces had completely encircled the city of al-Fallujah about 60km west of Baghdad, and declared a curfew in a number of the city’s neighborhoods. The city’s entrances and exits were closed “until further notice” on Friday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the occupation is preventing anyone from entering or leaving the city and had begun raids, searches, and arrests in the neighborhoods of an-Nazal, ash-Shuhada’, al-‘Askari, and ash-Shurtah.

Ar-Ramadi.

Five civilians killed in US air raid in southern ar-Ramadi at dawn Saturday.

In a dispatch posted at 7:50akkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US aircraft had struck an area to the south of ar-Ramadi at dawn on Saturday, killing six local residents.

Mafkarat al-Islam reported a Reuters dispatch as saying that Dr. Kamal al-‘Ani of ar-Ramadi Hosptial said that six victims were brought in from the American raid on Saturday, all members of one family. The dead consisted of three women, two children, and a man, they were brought to the hospital from where they would later be turned over to relatives for burial.

US troops, equipment deploy in force in ar-Ramadi, seizing control of the city and launching house-to-house raids.

In a dispatch posted at 11:35am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces had deployed in extremely large numbers in the city of ar-Ramadi, about 110km west of Baghdad. Troops and dozens of US vehicles have taken up positions in the city and seized control of all bridges in the city and of ar-Ramadi’s eastern and western entrances and exits.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that 17 Tammuz Street, which the Resistance had been controlling is now once again occupied by American troops who have deployed snipers atop buildings in the area.

At the time of reporting American forces were carrying out raids under air cover from Apache helicopters and US warplanes that prowl the sky at low altitude. As of the time of reporting, no fighting had taken place in the city.

In an update on the situation posted at 1:41pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US troops had been expelling families from their homes in the al-‘Aziziyah and al-Jam‘iyah areas of ar-Ramadi.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that US snipers had then perched themselves atop the commandeered houses.

American troops also took over and occupied the an-Nasr Sports Club and five schools in the city and are turning them into American military strongholds and camps.

A short while earlier, the Municipal Department building in the middle of ar-Ramadi was struck. Swarms of US helicopters and warplanes were at that time prowling the airspace over the city. Large numbers of American troops have moved from eastern ar-Ramadi to the center of the city.

Baghdad.

Resistance fighter assault puppet “Interior Ministry Shock Troop” check point in Baghdad Saturday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 5:05pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier Iraqi Resistance men armed with light and medium machine guns attacked a check point manned by puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops” opposite the al-Kasanzaniyah Sufi Takkiyah near the Abu Dushayr section of southern Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that five puppet “Shock Troops” were killed in the attack, after which the Resistance men immediately withdrew from the area.

Unknown gunmen blow up Shi‘i shrine as efforts to spark sectarian war continue.

In a dispatch posted at 5:25pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that in an apparent effort to stir up sectarian strife and split Iraq according to US and Zionist partition plans, unknown gunmen blew up a Shi‘i shrine in the Tuz Khurmatu area, some 160km north of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that unknown gunmen planted explosives around the base of the tomb of as-Sayyid al-Imam Isma‘il ibn ‘Abdallah, a pilgrimage site for Shi‘ah. The gunmen then blew up the tomb, which had two brick domes, completely destroying the structure.

Diyala Province.
Al-‘Azim.

Resistance fighters abduct 11 more puppet army troops near al-‘Azim in Diyala Province.

In a dispatch posted at 6:49m Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the television station run by the Iraqi puppet regime announced that armed men had abducted 11 puppet soldiers in the city of al-‘Azim, about 100km north of Baghdad.

Mafkarat al-Islam reported a statement issued by the puppet “Iraqi Defense Ministry” as saying that attackers forced the 11 puppet troops off a bus that was transporting them home on leave. Since they were on leave, they were all dressed in civilian clothing, but the attackers demanded their ideas and after it became clear that they were members of the American-run puppet army, they were taken off the bus, tied and blindfolded and then driven away to an unknown destination.

On Friday another 45 Iraqi puppet troops were abducted elsewhere in Diyala Province.
