国連のIAEA（国際原子力委員会）安全保障部門のディレクター、Olli Heinonen氏は、10月16日、「北朝鮮が行った地下での爆発は、核実験だったかどうか判明していない」と述べた。
これに対し、アメリカ政府は、北朝鮮が核実験を行ったとされる空気中でのサンプル・テストで、放射性物質を確認したとの発表を13日に行っている。

やはり、この話は最初からおかしかった。私見だが、アメリカは、どうしても、北朝鮮が｢核実験を行った」という方向に話を持っていきたいようだ(ミサイル防衛システムの追加注文、軍拡の為に？）。
アメリカ政府が13日に行った発表については、このような記事もYahooで出ていたので、私も阿修羅に投稿した。これによると「放射能は検出されなかった」となっている。

「報道や日常会話では、「放射能を持つ物質（放射性物質）」と「放射線」と「放射能」との概念上の区別があいまいで、危険物というニュアンスで放射能の語がひと括りにされ誤用されている」ことがあるそうだ。放射線ならどこの国の大気中でも充満しているが、まさかそれとの誤用でも・・・(笑）。

IAEA Unsure Whether N.Korea Conducted Nuclear Test

VIENNA (Reuters) - The United Nations nuclear watchdog said on Monday it did not know whether a North Korean underground explosion had tested a nuclear device.
``I don't think that anyone on the earth - except the North Koreans - know at this point in time how much material was used for this explosion,'' said Olli Heinonen, Deputy Director of Safeguards at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
He referred to a ``possible nuclear explosion'' at a media briefing during a conference on international safeguards in Vienna.
``We have located where this place might have been,'' he said.
Heinonen did not give any further details on the location in the reclusive country which said a week ago it had conducted a nuclear test.
Putting IAEA inspectors back into North Korea would be the only way to establish the facts, he said.
A U.S. official said on Friday preliminary U.S. intelligence analysis showed radioactivity in air samples collected near a suspected North Korean nuclear test site.
Intelligence officials and independent experts said confirmation might be elusive because the blast appeared relatively small, possibly as the result of an unsuccessful test.
