から右翼に関する取材を受けたことについて触れた。

Do or Die for Japan’s Radical Right

Colum Murphy, deputy editor of the REVIEW, finds Japan's
right-wing extremists challenged amidst internal divisions
and the rapid ascent of mainstream conservatives.

The boryokudan-kei groups are most commonly seen on the
streets of Tokyo and other Japanese cities, driving heavily
decorated trucks equipped with loudspeakers blaring nationalistic
music and angry rhetoric. But profit, not politics, drives them.
"They often attack individual companies or high-profile persons,
accusing them of being anti-Japanese," says Hisanori Noda,
a journalist and former officer with Japan's Public Security
Intelligence Agency (PSIA). "Thus they blackmail their targets
and earn money."

These goals bear an uncanny resemblance to the long-held
aspirations of the radical right. In this sense, the radical
right-wing groups' appeal is fading not because their ideas
are too far out on the fringe, but for precisely the opposite
reason. Mr. Noda elaborates: "Japanese society has obviously
become conservative and ethnocentric since the late 1990s.
Opinion leaders sometimes express more radical views than the
uyoku. In that sense, it can be said that the majority of the
Japanese, consciously or subconsciously, now have uyoku-fashioned
sentiments."
その他、地の文でも筆者提供のデータが複数使用されている。
（注：筆者の名前は「ひろなり」であって「ひさのり」ではな
い。「たかお」でも「よしお」でもない。この奇妙な訓を初見で
読める人は皆無である。「敬生」は祖父が付けた名前で、漢籍か
ら拾って来たらしいが、筆者は無教養なので未だにその典拠を知
らない。）
２．Murphy記者が筆者に接触してきた経緯はその後判明して、特
別な背景事情はないことが分かった。
同氏からは、引き続き、当局の把握する右翼の現況、つまり団
体数・構成員数の推移、暴力団系右翼の占める割合及びその増減
等について照会があった（記事にも記載されている）。
実は、これは意外に厄介な問題で、公安警察と公安調査庁が把
握している数には相当な違いがある。

というのも、団体の消長が激しいことに加え、そもそもどうい
う基準で「右翼」と認定するかが難しいからである。
