The elder Rockefeller was governor when a young student from Hot Springs named Bill Clinton was awarded a Rhodes scholarship. The governor invited the young Clinton to the family ranch at Petit Jean Mountain near Morrilton after Clinton received the honor in 1969.

スタンフォード大学は、正式にはアイビー・リーグ大学ではない。アイビー・リーグとは東部の一流私大（ハーバード、コロンビア、イェール・・・などなど）を呼ぶ時に使うので、カリフォルニア（サンフランシスコ・ベイエリア）にあるスタンフォード大をアイビー・リーグとは言わない。しかし東部の大学と比較する時に、あえて「西のアイビー・リーグであるスタンフォード・・」というような言い方をすることはある。

また私の知り合いが何人もスタンフォード大に行っているが、優れたスポーツ選手でもなければ、親が卒業生でもない。しかし平均よりは裕福な家庭の出身者である。
