At least five US troops reported killed in day of extensive fighting in Baghdad Sunday.

Resistance batters US base in western Hit with heavy mortars.

In a dispatch posted at 12:06pm Makkah time midday Sunday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired at least five heavy 120mm mortar rounds into a US Marine camp ミ set up in a former Iraqi Army training base ミ west of Hit, 165km northwest of Baghdad.

The Hit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the camp took direct hits from five shells. The witnesses said that plumes of smoke rose from the US-occupied facility and helicopters flew in over the area after the attack, an indication that there had been casualties.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance fighters battle US troops in two al-Fallujah neighborhoods Saturday-Sunday night.

In a dispatch posted at 12 noon Makkah time Sunday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce fighting broke out again between Iraqi Resistance fighters and US occupation troops in the southern part of al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad.

The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the Nazal and ash-Shuhada’ neighborhoods as saying that explosions shook their areas during the night followed by the sounds of light and medium gunfire between Resistance and US occupation troops. The witnesses said that the fighting went on for more than an hour in both neighborhoods, which are considered some of the hottest districts of the city. Since the nighttime curfew was in force at the time, no information on the nature or extent of casualties was available.

Ar-Ramadi.

Resistance men ambush puppet “Order protection force” in ar-Ramadi Sunday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 4:11pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier a violent battle broke out between Iraqi Resistance men and puppet “al-Anbar Salvation Council” police in ar-Ramadi, 110km west of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the Resistance men fired light and medium machineguns, and rocket launchers and three hand grenades in the battle against the puppet police that occurred in the as-Sufiyah area of ar-Ramadi. The fighting was so fierce that no information on the nature or extent of casualties was available at the time the story was posted.

Resistance ambushes US Marine patrol in ar-Ramadi at dawn Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 11:46am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters ambushed a US Marine patrol in the al-Mal‘ab district of ar-Ramadi, about 110km west of Baghdad at dawn on Sunday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Resistance fighters armed with light and medium weapons attacked the Marines in the residential neighborhood in al-Mal‘ab, setting an American vehicle ablaze and wounding the US Marines who were aboard it. No precise details of the engagement were available because the curfew imposed by the Americans several months ago is still in force. After dawn the remains of the burned out vehicle could still be seen.

Baghdad.

At least five US troops reported killed in day of extensive fighting in Baghdad Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 10:04pm Makkah time Sunday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the fighting in Baghdad on Sunday was more extensive than on previous days. Between 7:30am local time and 7:45pm local time Sunday, the Iraqi Resistance mounted 19 bomb attacks, 12 rocket attacks, 20 mortar attacks, five sharpshooter assaults, three car bomb attacks, and were involved in three clashes with US, Iraqi puppet troops, and Shi ‘ sectarian militia in the Baghdad area alone.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that in one of those attacks, the Iraqi Resistance fired four Katyusha rockets into Saddam International Airport, striking the reception hall where the US occupation has set up its headquarters. ‘Abd as-Sami‘ Jabir, an engineer who works at the airport, told Mafkarat al-Islam that the rockets killed or wounded seven US troops.

Among the bomb attacks carried out in the occupied Iraqi capital on Sunday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that four Resistance bombs exploded on al-‘Amal ash-Sha ‘bi Street, al-‘Asl Street, at the head of al-Munazzamah Street, and on as-Safarat Street. The boms disabled two vehicles, destroyed one Iraqi puppet army vehicle, killed three US soldiers, four Iraqi puppet army troops of the al-Muthanna Brigade and one Iraqi translator.

Another Iraqi Resistance bomb went off by a US column in the Baghdad area of al-Ghazaliyah on Sunday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. That blast moderately wounded three US troops, witnesses said. Another bomb went off in the al-‘Adl neighborhood by a joint patrol of US and Iraqi puppet police. No information on the nature or extent of casualties in that explosion was available.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded in the al-Yarmuk section of Baghdad, damaging a US vehicle but inflicting no casualties, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

In the Baghdad district of al-A‘zamiyah an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol on al-Akhtal Street at 3pm local time Sunday afternoon. The owner of a toy store in the area told Mafkarat al-Islam that the explosion killed one American soldier and wounded three more of them.

Two Iraqi Resistance bombs went off aboard a Coaster minibus in the Baghdad district of al-Karradah on Sunday. The explosions blew up the bus, killing or wounding 21 people of whom one was a civilian, according to Mafkarat al-Islam’s correspondent. All the rest were employees working for the US occupation forces inside “Green Zone” as the Americans call the top security area they have set up around the Republican Palace.

An Iraqi Resistance car bomb went off by a US military column in the ar-Ridwaniyah section of Baghdad, destroying a US military vehicle, killing the Americans who were aboard, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

Of the five Iraqi Resistance sharpshooter attacks in Baghdad on Sunday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported, two targeted US occupation troops. In one instance, a Resistance sharpshooter killed a US soldier in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah; in a second attack in the south Baghdad area of al-Bu ‘Ithah another American soldier was killed, according to an interview given by a representative of the Islamic Army Resistance group to the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent.

Iraqi Resistance fighters intercepted a US column in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah at 1pm local time Sunday afternoon. A firefight that lasted several minutes ensued but no information regarding the nature or extent of casualties was available, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

A violent battle erupted between Resistance men and US occupation troops in the Abu Ghurayb area, 30km west of Baghdad in al-Anbar Province at about 5pm local time Sunday afternoon. The fighting raged for about an hour and a quarters and ended with one US Humvee burned up, its crew killed or wounded.

Resistance pounds puppet police station in western Baghdad at dawn Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 1:20pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired five heavy 120mm mortar rounds into a puppet police station in the west Baghdad area of al-Khadra’ at 5am local time Sunday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that the Resistance shells scored direct hits on the puppet police station, setting off powerful and thunderous explosions and killing five puppet policemen and wounding four more of them. A large part of the puppet police station was also destroyed in the attack.

Resistance car bomb wounds puppet police in command post on Bayrut Square.

In a dispatch posted at 12:33pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by a command post manned by Iraqi puppet police in Baghdad at about 8am local time Sunday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source who asked not to be identified as saying that an explosives-laden Daewoo car that had been parked near a puppet police command post in the Bayrut Square area blew up, wounding seven puppet patrolmen and three shopkeepers. The blast also damaged a puppet police GMC vehicle.

The correspondent reported that the Karradah ash-Sharqiyah area of Baghdad was also the scene of a bombing targeting puppet police but no information on casualties there was immediately available.

Ad-Dulu‘iyah.

US imposes ban on motor traffic in ad-Dulu‘iyah following deadly Resistance attack Saturday.

In a dispatch posted at 1:29pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces had imposed a ban on motor traffic in the ad-Dulu‘iyah area, about 100km north of Baghdad, and is proceeding with a campaign of raids and searches in the eastern part of the city on the pretext of looking for “wanted individuals.” The move followed an Iraqi Resistance bomb attack that disabling a Bradley armored vehicle on Saturday, killing a US soldier and wounding two more of them.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in Salah ad-Din Province reported that the US forces had basically banned all motor traffic. US Humvees and other vehicles deployed in large numbers in the area and American helicopters were seen prowling the skies at low altitude. Witnesses reported that US forces raided and searched houses looking for “suspects” and weapons. It was the second such American campaign in the area in two months.

Diyala Province.
Al-Mada’in.

Resistance sharpshooter kills two puppet “Shock Troops” in al-Mada’in Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 4:30pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance marksman shot and killed two puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” in al-Mada’in, 25km southeast of Baghdad, on Sunday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of al-Mada’in who witnessed the attack as saying that a patrol of puppet “Shock Troups” was slowly prowling around the city when the sharpshooter opened fire. The Sharpshooter killed two of the puppet “Shock Troops” who were aboard the four-wheel drive vehicles in the patrol.

The witnesses said that the patrol then hastened to leave the area immediately following the attack.

Ba‘qubah.

Iraqi Resistance seizes convoy of new vehicles for Iraqi puppet police Sunday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 5:34pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier Iraqi Resistance fighters seized 40 vehicles belonging to the Iraqi puppet police in Diyala Province.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Resistance halted a large convoy carrying pickups and Toyota Landcruisers coming from the port of al-Basrah and on their way to be delivered to the puppet provincial police of Diyala Province in order to strengthen their striking capacity.

The Resistance killed the detail of more than 20 guards accompanying the vehicles and took their weapons and the vehicles away to an unknown destination near al-Muradiyah, south of Ba‘qubah.

At the time of writing US forces had surrounded the scene of the attack and were searching for the missing vehicles. A Ba‘qubah puppet police source said that the cars were 2006 models and that they all disappeared in an instant. It was thought likely that the Resistance would burn the vehicles since they could not drive them around in the city.

Resistance sharpshooter kills puppet “Iraqi National Guard” Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 1:41pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance marksman shot and killed an Iraqi puppet “National Guardsman” east of Ba‘qubah, 65km northeast of Baghdad on Sunday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that witnesses in the Hibhib area east of Ba‘qubah as saying that the puppet “Guard” died instantly when he was struck in the head by a Resistance sharpshooter’s bullet at a checkpoint set up on the main road in the area. The other puppet “Guards” opened fire indiscriminately at the surrounding area after the attack.

Babil Province.
Al-Hillah.

Resistance barrage kills or wounds 11 pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia in al-Hillah.

In a dispatch posted at 3:59pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired five 120mm mortar rounds into a headquarters of Jaysh al-Mahdi pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian militia near al-Hillah, about 60km south of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that a headquarters of the pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, setting off blasts heard far from the headquarters that heavily damaged their target structure. The correspondent reported that at least 10 Jaysh al-Mahdi gunmen were killed our wounded in the barrage.

Jurf as-Sakhr.

Resistance mortars pound puppet “National Guard” checkpoint Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 4:04pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired a barrage of five 60mm mortar rounds into a check point manned by puppet “Iraqi National Guard” troops in Jurf as-Sakhr, about 40km south of Baghdad on Sunday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that the Resistance shells scored direct hits on a house in Jurf as-Sakhr that the puppet “National Guards” were occupying. Heavy damage was done to the fortifications of the checkpoint and it was considered probable that the puppet soldiers there would have sustained casualties though details were unavailable.

Al-Latifiyah.

Resistance fighters attack puppet “National Guard” patrol in al-Latifiyah Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 3:55pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces ambushed a patrol of Iraqi puppet “National Guards” in al-Latifiyah, 30km south of Baghdad, at about 10am local time Sunday morning.

The al-Latifiyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the Resistance men carried out a fierce attack on the puppet “Guards” using light and medium machine guns and hand grenades, sparking a violent firefight that lasted about 30 minutes. The witnesses said that three puppet troops were killed and a fourth wounded in the engagement. The Resistance men withdrew from the scene without having sustained any casualties.
Resistance mounts rocket attack on puppet “Shock Troop” checkpoint Saturday.

In a dispatch posted at 4:26pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired two S5K rockets into a checkpoint manned by puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” in al-Latifiyah, about 30km south of Baghdad, destroying the position on Saturday afternoon.

The al-Latifiyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the Resistance rockets scored direct hits on the puppet checkpoint, causing its virtual total destruction and killing or wounding all inside. After the strick, US occupation troops and puppet “Iraqi National Guards” rushed to seal off the checkpoint.

Kirkuk.

Puppet police captain killed in Resistance bombing in Kirkuk Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 2:33pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a puppet police patrol in the southern part of Kirkuk, about 250km north of Baghdad on Sunday.

The Kirkuk correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the main road in the 90 neighborhood blew up by a passing puppet police patrol, killing a captain and wounding five puppet policemen. Sources said that the wounded men were taken to Kirkuk General Hospital for treatment, while the corpse of the dead captain was taken to the forensic medicine department.

Four US troops killed in Resistance bombing in al-Mawsil midday Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 3:53pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a patrol of US troops in the northern city of al-Mawsil at noon on Sunday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the city as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side Badush Road in the city went off by a US patrol, completely destroying a Humvee and killing four US troops who were aboard it.

Resistance mortars pound puppet police in al-Mawsil Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 2:24pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters carried out two simultaneous mortar attacks on two puppet police stations in the northern city of al-Mawsil on Sunday.

The al-Mawsil correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported puppet police sources as saying that the Resistance fired three 82mm mortar rounds into the Abu Tamam puppet police station in the cultural complex behind the Narkal archaeological site on the eastern side of al-Mawsil on Sunday morning. That barrage wounded five puppet policemen. The sources said that three other 82mm mortar shells blated into the Bab Shams puppet police station in the eastern part of the city at the same time, killing two and wounding six. The fact that the attacks occurred simultaneously indicated that there had been coordination in carrying them out.

US troops capture three Iranian Revolutionary Guards who illegally entered Iraq on Saturday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 12:57pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation troops together with Iraqi puppet army forces detained three Iranian Revolutionary Guards who entered the northern Iraqi city of al-Mawsil in an unknown and illegal manner.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source who asked not to be identified as saying that the Americans arrested the three men on Saturday afternoon and it later became apparent that they were Iranians and also members of the elite Revolutionary Guard.

The three Iranians were arrested at a checkpoint manned by the Iraqi puppet police under the authority of the US military after reliable intelligence had been received that there were agents already on the ground in al-Mawsil. The source indicated that the three were picked up in the al-Ghabat area to the east of the city and that Major General Wathiq ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Hamdani , the puppet police chief in the city, confirmed that they were Iranians who had no proof that they had entered the country legally.

The source said that the US forces took the three Iranian agents to the US base in the area for interrogation. This is the third time in two months that Iranian Revolutionary Guards have been found operating in Iraq.

British admit one British soldier killed in bomb attack in al-Basrah Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11:32am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a British armored patrol in the al-Karmah area north of al-Basrah at 7:30am local time Sunday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a spokeswoman for the British occupation forces in al-Basrah as saying that the blast killed one British soldier and wounded four more of them, two of those severely.

The spokesman indicated that there was another operation in the al-Mudara’ neighborhood targeting a British patrol and armored vehicle on Saturday evening. That attack inflicted material damage but caused no casualties, the British spokeswoman indicated.
