Resistance blasts US helicopter out of the air with heat seeking missile Monday night.

In a bulletin posted at 9:12pm Makkah time Monday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that less than an hour earlier, the Iraqi Resistance had shot down a US helicopter near al-Qa’im in western Iraq, not far from the Syrian border.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses who live in Sa‘dah village, an eastern suburb of al-Qa’im as saying that the Resistance brought the helicopter down with a heat-seeking surface-to-air missile that blew the helicopter apart in midair.

The correspondent said that there were reports that more than 20 Americans had been aboard the helicopter and it was not known if any had survived because US forces surrounded the area of Sa‘dah and ar-Rummanah, and Jurayjib and swarms of helicopters were prowling the skies over the area at the time of reporting.

Abu Ghurayb.

Resistance bombards US headquarters in Abu Ghurayb with mortars Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 5:30pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired a mortar barrage at a US military headquarters in the Abu Ghurayb area, about 30km west of Baghdad on Monday morning.

The Abu Ghurayb correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that the US headquarters in Project 117 in the Abu Ghurayb area took direct hits from six 82mm mortar rounds on Sunday morning. The shells caused damage to the facility and inflicted casualties. An American helicopter emblazoned with the red cross was observed landing in the headquarters after the attack.

Baghdad.

Resistance forces blast Jaysh al-Mahdi pro-Iranian gunmen with Katyusha rockets midday Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 4:59pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired two Katyusha rockets into a headquarters of the pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia in the ash-Shurtah ar-Rabi‘ah district of Baghdad at midday Sunday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local residents as saying that the rockets heavily damaged the headquarters building, killing or wounding at least 10 of the sectarian gunmen.

The Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia is run by Muqtada as-Sadr, a Shi‘i cleric loyal to Iran, which is seeking to extend its regional hegemony and step into the shoes of the American occupation in Iraq.

Resistance bomb blasts US patrol in ad-Durah Monday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 4:44pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military patrol in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah at about 10am Monday morning.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that a bomb that had been planted atop the bridge in the al-Mahdiyah district of ad-Durah went off as a US patrol was crossing the bridge. The source offered no further details.

Eyewitnesses, however, told Mafkarat al-Islam that the explosion was large and thunderous and that it completely destroyed an American military Humvee. They said they watched as Americans pulled the bodies of their comrades from the wrecked vehicle. US forces completely shut down the bridge until they had evacuated their casualties and hauled away the vehicle.

Resistance rockets blast US-occupied base in at-Taji Sunday evening.

In a dispatch posted at 5:15pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired five S5K rockets at a US base in the northern Baghdad suburb of at-Taji on Sunday evening.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in at-Taji as saying that the American camp ミ which has been set up in a former Iraqi Army base ミ was struck by Resistance rockets , setting off explosions that rocked the facility and could be heard throughout at-Taji.

The witnesses said that smoke, dust, and dirt were thrown into the sky by the direct rocket hits and that American helicopters responded to the barrage with several hours of helicopter patrols over the surrounding area.

US base in at-Taji burns following Resistance rocket barrage Sunday night.

In a dispatch posted at 12:40am Makkah time Monday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at that hour fire was raging in the US base in the northern Baghdad suburb of at-Taji and massive explosions were going off inside.

The at-Taji correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier four rockets blasted into the US base igniting a fire and setting off massive secondary explosions as ammunition began blowing up.

Swarms of US warplanes and helicopter gun ships prowled the skies over the area continuously as the explosions continued to shake the American facility.

Salah ad-Din Province.
Tikrit.

Iraqis by the hundreds, Sunni and Shi‘i alike, flock to al-‘Awjah village to visit grave of Martyred President.

In a dispatch posted at 1:38am Makkah time on Tuesday morning, 2 January, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that hundreds of Iraqis were flocking every day to the grave of martyred Iraqi President Saddam Husayn.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the visitors recite the opening chapter of the Qur’an and say prayers in honor of the fallen leader. They are coming from various provinces of Iraq, the correspondent noted. The mourners are not only Sunnis but also Shi‘i patriots who oppose the US occupation and Iran’s hegemonic ambitions on their Arab country.

Quds Press reported that the grave was a simple site in a room adjacent to the large festive hall that was built in the Iraqi President’s hometown some 20 years ago. The room, which was already a part of the structure, has a ceiling is six meters high that is topped with a dome. The grave itself was hastily dug by relatives in the hours after the Iraqi President’s assassination and before the body was delivered there by the American occupation authorities. Covered with clay and bricks it rises 15cm above the level of the floor and is draped with the Iraq flag which is emblazoned with the slogan Allahu akbar! (God is greatest!).

Local youths were seen embracing the grave and crying burning tears. Many pledged to avenge the assassination of the Iraqi President. Others refused to leave the grave.

Quds Press noted that thousands of Iraqis have visited the grave since the Iraqi President was buried on Saturday ミ all of them walking on foot because the entire city has been under curfew since that day.

The correspondent reported that dozens trying to get to the town are turned back by the local puppet authorities in Tikrit that are trying to reduce the number of mourners attempting to get to the site. The puppet regime is slapped tighter “security restrictions” on the area causing many travelers to begin to shout slogans against the puppet regime and the American occupation ミ only increasing the worry of the puppet authorities.

Samarra’.

US soldier wounded as demonstrations denouncing the assassination of Saddam Husayn escalate on third day.

In a dispatch posted at 9:20pm Makkah time Monday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that demonstrations protesting the assassination of Iraqi President Saddam Husayn continued throughout Iraq on Monday the third day in a row.

Mafkarat al-Islam reported that residents of ad-Dawr, Samarra’, and ad-Dulu‘iyah were continuing to mount angry protests denouncing the killing of the Iraqi president by a regime installed by the American occupation forces in Iraq.

The correspondent noted that the demonstrations had escalated notably in this their third day, now consisting of thousands of Iraqis in those cities despite the ‘Id al-Adha holidays.

One American soldier was wounded by a bullet fired by a demonstrator, promting the Americans to open fire into the air to try to break up the march.

Balad.

Resistance mortars pound pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi headquarters in Balad.

In a dispatch posted at 5:14pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired three 82mm mortar rounds into a concentration of pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi Shi‘i sectarian militiamen in Balad, about 85km north of Baghdad on Sunday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of Balad who witnessed the attack as saying that two of the shells landed directly on the headquarters of the sectarian gunmen. A large number of the pro-Iranians were killed or wounded and their headquarters sustained heavy material damage.

At-Tarimiyah.

Powerful Iraqi Resistance bomb rips US troop transport apart leaving 10 American troops reported dead in at-Tarimiyah Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 4:15pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a US military column in at-Tarimiyah, about 30km north of Baghdad on Sunday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the explosion destroyed an American troop transport vehicle. The blast was so powerful it sent parts of the heavy vehicle flying around the area and scrambled the bodies of the American troops who were aboard it with shards of their transport. The witnesses said that at least 10 American troops were killed and some severely injured.

Bayji.

Resistance mounts ferocious attack on US base in as-Siniyah near Bayji Sunday night.

In a dispatch posted at 10:37am GMT, Quds Press reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters inflicted casualties on US troops when they attacked the American base in as-Siniyah near Bayji, about 200km north of Baghdad on Sunday night.

Eyewitnesses told Quds Press that the Resistance mounted a fierce attack in which rocket-propelled grenades and other weapons were used, setting fires inside the facility that lit up the night sky for a long time and set explosions going off ,apparently from direct hits on the Americans’ ammunition dump.

The Americans rushed a large numbers of helicopters into the area to swarm over the base. Others landed inside and took off again shortly afterwards, a pattern that local residents interpreted as meaning that they were evacuating American casualties.

At dawn on Monday the Brigades of the 1920 Revolution ミ an Iraqi Resistance detachment ミ distributed a communiqu taking credit for the attack. The Americans, in keeping with their usual practice of concealing factual information, made no announcement concerning the attack or the extent or nature of casualties. It was reportedly the heaviest attack on a US base since the strike on the Falcon forward base late on Tuesday, 10 October 2006.

Al-Ishaqi.

US soldier reported killed, mine sweeper heavily damaged in Resistance bombing in al-Ishaqi.

In a dispatch posted at 4:06pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column in the city of al-Ishaqi, about 80km north of Baghdad.

The al-Ishaqi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a high-explosive Iraqi Resistance bomb that had been planted by the side of the road into the town exploded by a US column. The blast heavily damaged an American mine sweeper vehicle, killing at least one US soldier and wounding two more of them according to witnesses who added that the Americans closed the road for several hours after the attack.

Ad-Dulu‘iyah.

Hundreds protest assassination of Saddam Husayn in rally in ad-Dulu‘iyah Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 1:27pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that hundreds of residents of ad-Dulu‘iyah, about 100km north of Baghdad poured out into the streets in angry, tumultuous demonstrations in protest against the “execution” of Iraqi President Saddam Husayn on Saturday.

The ad-Dulu‘iyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that hundreds of local men and youths marched through the streets of the city denouncing the assassination. The chanted slogans against the sectarians and Safawis (Iranians) and crusaders (Americans) who killed the Iraqi leader. They carried a symbolic coffin on which was written: “Hero and Martyr Saddam Husayn.” Some of the protestors fired weapons into the air in mourning.

The demonstration wound its way to the city cemetery where the marchers offered the Prayer for one who is Absent in honor of President Saddam Husayn and then buried the coffin.

Diyala Province.
Salman Bak.

Resistance bomb targets supply convoy for puppet “Interior Ministry Shock Troops” Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 5:02pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a supply convoy of the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” near the town of Salman Bak, about 35km southeast of Baghdad, on Sunday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that an Iraqi Resistance bomb that had been planted by the side of the road from Baghdad exploded by a convoy of several fuel tankers and supply trucks that was under puppet “Shock Troop” guard.

The bomb blast caused one of the tank trucks to explode, totally destroying it and killing its driver. The explosion also destroyed a four-wheel drive vehicle, killing two “Shock Troops” who were aboard it and wounding three more of them.

Babil Province.
Al-Hillah.

Three US troops reported dead after Resistance bomb explodes south of al-Hillah Monday.

In a dispatch posted at 5:13pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military patrol near al-Hillah, about 60km south of Baghdad at midday Monday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that a bomb that had been planted by he side of a road south of the city went off by a US patrol, completely burning and destroying an American Humvee and killing three US troops and wounding two more of them in varying degrees.

Witnesses added that the Americans opened fire indiscriminately after the attack, but fortunately failed to injure any civilian passers by.

Al-Yusufiyah.

Resistance fighters kill five pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi gunmen in al-Yusufiyah.

In a dispatch posted at 4:07pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces attacked a fake checkpoint that pro-Iranian Shi ‘ sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi gunmen had set up in al-Yusufiyah, about 25km southwest of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi set up the checkpoint to capture Sunni as a part of their effort to “cleanse” large sections of Iraq of Sunnis in order to facilitate the partition of the country on religious lines.

Resistance fighters armed with light and medium machine guns unleashed a hail of gunfire on the sectarian gunmen at the check point, killing five of them and frightening two more of them away. The Resistance fighters seized weapons and a car from the checkpoint.

US soldier reported killed by Resistance sharpshooter in al-Hawijah Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 5:14pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance marksman shot and killed a US soldier in al-Hawijah, southwest of Kirkuk on Sunday afternoon.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported an Iraqi puppet police source as saying that a group of US soldiers were getting out of their vehicles in the middle of al-Hawijah when one of the Americans was struck in the face and killed by a Resistance sharpshooter’s bullet. Afterwards, the Americans closed off the area and carried out searches and raids for several hours looking for the sharpshooter. They found no sign of the fighter, however, and made no arrests.

Puppet police, US occupation troops arrest “security suspects” in al-Mawsil Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 12:59pm Makkah time Monday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi puppet police backed by US occupation troops arrested three individuals in a campaign of raids and arrests in southwestern al-Mawsil on Sunday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that special forces of the puppet police with direct support from US occupation troops raided and arrested people in southwestern districts of al-Mawsil. The American and puppet forces claimed that the three men arrested were wanted for “security” reasons.
