Al-Hadithah Hospital source confirms arrival of 16 bodies of fishermen apparently killed by US troops on 23 January.

In a dispatch posted at pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a hospital source in the city of al-Hadithah confirmed that it had received the bodies of 16 men apparently the fishermen whom US troops were reported to have shot to death on Tuesday, 23 January.

On Wednesday, 24 January, the correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses who live in the as-Subhani area as saying that US troops rounded up 16 fishermen from the al-Hadithah Lake, bound their feet and then executed them by shooting without any prior warning or explanation of what “crime” they had supposedly committed.

The wife of one of the fishermen discovered the massacre when she went out to bring lunch to her husband and found the blood-covered bodies of the 16 men. Witnesses said that the US troops first arrested the fishermen and then shot them one by one, claiming that they were members of a Resistance organization, not ordinary citizens. The witnesses, however, denied that the men were associated with the Resistance.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Saturday that medical sources in al-Hadithah General Hospital had confirmed that their institution had received the bodies of 16 fishermen who had been shot to death with bullet wounds to the head and chest. The sources said that the bullets used were consistent with those used by the US occupation forces. Witnesses said that after shooting the fishermen, the US troops burned their boats.

Hit.

US troops burn down three shops, take over two houses in Hit Friday.

In a dispatch posted at 2:28pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces blew up three shops owned by ordinary Iraqis in the cit of Hit and also occupied two houses in that city on Friday.

The Hit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that a patrol of several US military vehicles demolished and burned down three shops owned by professionals near the western wall of the former Hit Youth Center, which US troops have taken over and turned into their local headquarters.

The correspondent reported the witnesses as saying that the reason they destroyed the shops was that they had found weapons and ammunition in them, which they blew up. Local residents denied those claims however.

Witnesses also said that US troops went up atop the roofs of two family home in the New Citatel area in the center of old Hit. Those American snipers perched atop the roof paralyzed movement in the area as they were in a position to shoot anyone walking out of doors.

Resistance bombards joint US-puppet Iraq base in Hit Friday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 12:57pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired three 82mm mortar rounds into the headquarters jointly occupied by US and puppet “Iraqi National Guards” on the west bank of the Euphrates River in the city of Hit, about 165km northwest of Baghdad on Friday afternoon.

The Hit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that a fourth mortar shell blasted into the fortifications that surround the base. One witness in the area of the old citadel in the city that overlooks the American position said that plumes of smoke rose over the base after the attack.

Ar-Ramadi.

Resistance fighters battle puppet “al-Anbar Salvation Council Police” in ar-Ramadi Friday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 12:42pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce fighting raged between Iraqi Resistance forces and puppet “al-Anbar Salvation Council Police” in ar-Ramadi, about 110km west of Baghdad, on Friday afternoon.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that Iraqi Resistance forces armed with rocket-propelled grenades ambushed a patrol of the puppet “al-Anbar Salvation Council Police” in the Kilometer 5 area west of ar-Ramadi, destroying a vehicle belonging to the puppet force. The attack sparked a gun battle that lasted for more than half an hour and left a number of casualties.

Baghdad.

Pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian gunmen assault al-‘Amil section of Baghdad Saturday night.

In a dispatch posted at 8:02pm Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at that hour pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian militias had attacked Sunnis living in the al-‘Amil section of Baghdad and were trying to take control of the ash-Shukur Mosque in the middle of the area. Local people had risen and were fighting in defense of their neighborhood.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that dozens of Shi ‘ sectarian gunmen had attacked the mosque and were engaged in battle with the guards. Mortar shells were exploding in and around the house of worship, and had already destroyed its dome and 12-meter high minaret.

Six local defenders had been killed at the time of writing defending the area and other mosques had begun to use their loudspeakers to broadcast calls of “Allahu Akbar!” (“God is greatest!”) to alert and encourage local fighters and to call in Iraqi Resistance fighters to come quickly to help defend the area.

Jaysh al-Mahdi gunmen wearing puppet “National Guard” uniforms raid al-A ‘zamiyah, kidnap 30 local residents Saturday night.

In a dispatch posted at 8:01pm Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian militias attacked the Baghdad district of al-A‘zamiyah where they abducted dozens of local people after first killing a number of youths in the area.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that members of the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia driving cars belonging to the puppet “Iraqi National Guard” and wearing puppet “Guard” uniforms raided al-A‘zamiyah where they kidnapped about 30 local people and then executed a number of youths. The kidnap victims ミ all of them shopkeepers and passers by who happened to be on the street at the time of the attack ミ into Iraqi puppet regime Humvees and then fled the scene in the Ra’s al-Hush area of al-A‘zamiyah at high speed.

Twelve US troops reported killed in day of Resistance attacks in Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 9:39pm Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a total of 12 US troops had been killed in various Resistance attacks in and around Baghdad on Saturday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the first light of dawn on Saturday came from three Katyusha rockets fired by the Iraqi Resistance in Baghdad’s al-‘Amiriyah district at the US base in the west of that area, setting a fire and sending plumes of smoke rising into the sky.

At 8am local time Saturday morning, an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol on al-Mudif Street also in al-‘Amiriyah. The blast killed two US troops and wounded two more of them. One of those lost his leg, according to electrical appliance shop owners whose places of business overlook the area where the bomb went off, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

An Iraqi Resistance marksman shot and killed a US soldier in the Baghdad district of al-Mansur, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. The attack occurred near the as-Sa‘ah restaurant in the middle of al-Mansur and a witness said that the American soldier was hit in the back of the head by a bullet from a Resistance sharpshooter’s gun. Afterwards, US forces surrounded the area from 9am to 10:30am as they searched for the Resistance man but to no avail.

An Iraqi Resistance rocket exploded violently in a US base on the highway in the southern suburb of ad-Durah, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. A plume of black smoke was seen rising over the facility.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb that had been planted in a popcorn cart that was leaning against a wall went off by a US patrol, killing one American soldier and severely wounding a second, Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

In the Baghdad district of al-Husayniyah an Iraqi Resistance car bomb that had been parked by the side of a road blew up by a patrol of US and puppet Iraqi troops, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. The blast disabled one vehicle, destroyed a second, and left one American soldier and four of the puppet troops dead, according to Captain ‘Ali Kazim of the al-Husayniyah puppet police station.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a fuel tanker supplying US forces on the al-Bu Bali Road in the northern Baghdad suburb of at-Taji, Mafkarat al-Islam reported. The blast killed one US soldier and an Asian truck driver when it went off at 4pm local time Saturday afternoon.

Four US troops were reported killed in a Resistance bomb explosion in at-Tarimiyah, in Salah ad-Din Province, 30km north of Baghdad, at 9:30am Saturday morning. A source in an Iraqi Resistance organization told Mafkarat al-Islam that they began their attack on the Americans by firing rockets and then opened fire with medium machine guns. The fighter said “nine machine guns opened up on them from different corners and areas at one time, causing them to lose their balance and killing four of them,” the correspondent reported.

Another Iraqi Resistance detachment ambushed US forces on the road to Saddam International Airport near al-‘Amiriyah, sparking a battle that lasted for several minutes.

After nightfall, at about 8:15pm local time, the Iraqi Resistance mounted a rocket attack on an office of Muqtada as-Sadr’s pro-Iranian Shi ‘ sectarian movement in the Ur neighborhood of the district dubbed “Madinat as-Sadr.” The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that the Resistance mounted the attack to coincide with a meeting of leaders of the as-Sadr movement and that 11 of them had been killed in the rocket assault.

Resistance rocket blasts into “Green Zone” Saturday evening.

In a dispatch posted at 6:29pm Makkah time Saturday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, Iraqi Resistance forces fired a rocket of an unknown type into the top-security area around the Republican Palace in Baghdad ミ the district known as the “Green Zone” to the US occupation troops. The rocket apparently set a fire blazing in the area behind the old ‘Abbasi Palace inside the “Zone.”

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces used loudspeakers to issue a verbal warning inside the “Green Zone” telling workers and staff members that a second rocket might be coming and urging them to take cover behind walls or within buildings.

The “Green Zone” is the headquarters of the US and British occupation forces as well as the puppet “government” installed there following the American invasion.

Late afternoon mortar barrage on headquarters of Association of Muslim Scholars inflicts no casualties.

In a dispatch posted at 6:02pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian militias had fired seven mortar shells into the headquarters of the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq, the supreme Sunni religious authority in the occupied country. There were no casualties.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that four mortar rounds first landed on the Umm al-Qura Mosque where the Association of Muslim Scholars is headquartered. Then a second barrage of three more shells blasted into the mosque. The barrage damaged the wall around the building but caused no casualties among the mosque guards.

The Association comes under attack from Shi‘i sectarians from time to time as mortar shells can easily be launched from the nearby ash-Shu‘lah neighborhood, an area where the Jaysh al-Mahdi has a strong presence.

Two car bombs target stronghold of pro-Iranian sectarian cleric Muqtada as-Sadr in Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 5:57pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that two car bombs exploded by the Baghdad al-Jadidah puppet police station and near the popular market known as the “market of thieves and forgers,” a stronghold of the pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the al-Kindi Hospital where most of the casualties in the double car bombing were brought as saying that 20 people were killed, including officers in the puppet police and prominent leaders of the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia.

The source said that the first car bomb went off by a well-known coffee house owned by the Jaysh al-Mahdi and reputedly also a site for sales of hashish, cocaine, and other narcotics. A second explosives-laden car driven by a fida’i fighter then rammed into a group of puppet police who gathered on the scene of the first bombing. The source said that the first bomb left 40 more people dead or wounded but said that the number was likely to rise due to the severity of most of the injuries.

The correspondent reported that Hazim al-A‘raji, a prominent leader in the pro-Iranian Muqtada as-Sadr Shi‘i sectarian movement was seen visiting the hospital and weeping over the bodies of four of his assistants who were killed in the blast.

Pro-Iranian militiamen abduct 10 persons from computer store in Baghdad. Sectarian kidnapping, torture, murder on the increase despite US claims to be ‘cracking down’ on the Shi‘i sectarian militias who practice it.

In a dispatch posted at 5:39pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier a detachment of pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi Shi‘i sectarian gunmen dressed in the uniforms of the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” abducted about 10 persons who worked at a computer store in central Baghdad’s al-Karradah district.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses who own shops around the computer store as saying that four four-wheel drive cars of the type used by the puppet “Shock Troops” stormed onto as-Sina‘ah Street in al-Karradah, which is closed off by the Technology University for security reasons.

The sources said that the men in the four vehicles were dressed in puppet “Shock Troop” uniforms and that they got out of the vehicles and stormed into the al-Qimmah Computer Company in the middle of the street. The men abducted 10 people who had been working in the store and forced them into the cars.

Witnesses said that he abductors sped away with their captives towards the Muhammad al-Qasim highway that leads to one of the Jaysh al-Mahdi strongholds in the city, the one where orders for abductions are issued.

The correspondent noted that sectarian kidnappings, torture, and murder have returned with renewed force to the Iraqi scene despite US claims to be cracking down on such death squad activity rampantly carried on by the Jaysh al-Mahdi and other Shi‘i sectarian militias.

Mysterious barrage of mortar shells strikes Baghdad’s al-Hurriyah ath-Thaniyah district.

In a dispatch posted at 4:58pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, three mortar rounds landed in the Baghdad district of al-Hurriyah ath-Thaniyah, killing three people and wounding five others, some of them severely.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that one mortar shell landed on a civilian house and then was followed by another. The third shell landed near the area around the house. A witness said that the shells might have been aimed a crowded market nearby but then missed their targets. The source of the shells was unknown.

Resistance car bomber blasts puppet “National Guard” checkpoint Friday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 2:06pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a checkpoint manned by puppet “Iraqi National Guard” troops in central Baghdad at 5pm local time Friday afternoon.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that a Resistance fighter drove a car bomb into the checkpoint in the al-‘Allawi area, killing two Iraqi puppet troops and wounding four more of them, some of those severely. The injured troops were later taken to hospital for treatment and US and puppet Iraqi troops sealed off the area where the car bomber struck.

Resistance bomb damages two US Humvees in western Baghdad Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 1:02pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by a US military patrol in western Baghdad on Saturday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the al-Jami‘ah area as saying that an explosives-laden car that was parked by the side of the road near the as-Salamah hospital blew up by a passing American patrol. The blast severely damaged two Humvees, killing or wounding all the soldiers aboard them. US troops then quickly sealed off the area preventing all access.

Three US troops reported killed in Resistance bomb blast near ad-Dujayl Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 3:31pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in the area of ad-Dujayl, about 55km north of Baghdad on Saturday morning.

The ad-Dujayl correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses from the Yathrib area as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of a road blew up when a US patrol drove past. The explosion destroyed one Humvee, killing three US troops who were aboard it and wounded a fourth. Afterwards, the US forces closed off the entire area.

Resistance bomb kills four puppet “Iraqi National Guards” in al-Mushahadah midday Saturday.

In a dispatch posted at 3:08pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a patrol of puppet “Iraqi National Guards” in al-Mushahadah, about 25km north of Baghdad, at midday Saturday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the main road in the city blew up by a column of puppet “National Guards,” nearly completely destroying one vehicle and killing four of the “Guards” and wounding still more, most of them severely.

Resistance bomb targets puppet “Shock Troop” patrol in al-Mushahadah.

In a dispatch posted at 3:14pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a patrol of puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” in al-Mushahadah, about 25km north of Baghdad on Saturday morning.

The al-Mushahadah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that bomb that had been planted by the side of the road blew up when a “Shock Troop” patrol was driving past, destroying a Nissan four-wheel drive patrol vehicle and killing three troops who were aboard it and wounding two others.

Samarra’.

Residents of Samarra’ threaten to fight any Shi‘i sectarian forces brought in to “protect” the effort to rebuild Imam ‘Ali al-Hadi Shrine there.

In a dispatch posted at 2:21pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that local residents of the city of Samarra’, about 120km north of Baghdad, had warned against any Shi‘i sectarian attack on their city on the pretext of protecting the rebuilding effort at the Shi‘i Imam ‘Ali al-Hadi there.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that local residents met with the puppet governor and head of the municipality and informed him that they would fight and Shi‘i sectarian military force that might try to get into Samarra’ in coming days.

The Shi‘i sectarian “United Iraqi Alliance” led by ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-Hakim declared on Friday that they intended to deploy soldiers of the puppet Iraqi government in Samarra’ n order to “protect” the Shi‘i shrine so that it can be rebuilt.

The puppet governor and municipal chief and the commander of the puppet police in Samarra’ told the popular representatives that they would convey their threat to the puppet government authorities in Baghdad. The local people already kicked four Shi‘i sectarian individuals who claimed to be employees of a league to protect the Shrine who had been installed in the building on Friday by a troop of puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir).” The puppet regime was expected to respond to the local residents’ threat to fight any Shi‘i sectarian forces to be brought in to take control of the shrine as it was believed that the regime is intent on renovating the shrine before the start of the Islamic month of Safar in the second half of February.

Ba‘qubah.

Resistance fighters kill pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi commander, puppet police official in Ba‘qubah.

In a dispatch posted at 2:55pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported Iraqi Resistance fighters shot and killed a high-ranking commander in the pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi Shi‘i sectarian militia along with four of his companions in Ba‘qubah, 65km northeast of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that Resistance fighters ambushed the Jaysh al-Mahdi commander, spraying his motorcade with a hail of bullets, killing him and four of his personal companions, one of them his brother. The Resistance men also seized five weapons of various types and the late-model car that the commander had been driving.

The Jaysh al-Mahdi commander concurrently served as a high ranking member of the puppet police directorate in Ba‘qubhah, the correspondent wrote, using that post to cover his sectarian arrests and murders.

Al-Latifiyah.

Resistance sharpshooter kills two puppet policemen in al-Latifiyah.

In a dispatch posted at 3:11pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance marksman shot and killed two puppet policemen in the city of al-Latifiyah, about 30km south of Baghdad on Saturday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that a Resistance sharpshooter opened fire on a puppet police checkpoint on the highway that runs past al-Latifiyah, killing two of the puppet policemen. Afterwards, the puppet forces closed down the checkpoint completely.

Al-Hillah.

Resistance blasts US consulate in al-Hillah with heavy mortars Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 2:18pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired three heavy 120mm mortar rounds into the US consulate in al-Hillah, about 60km south of Baghdad on Saturday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that he headquarters of the US consulate in the al-Hillah Tourist Hotel took hits in the barrage that damaged the building. No information on casualties was available. The correspondent reported that it seemed likely that the shells were fired from the area of the villages of an-Nakhilah and ‘Annanah to the north of al-Hillah.

US troops in al-Hillah fire on minibus when it gets too close, killing Iraqi civilian Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 12:58pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a US patrol opened fire on a Kia minibus when it approached the American troops slightly on Saturday morning.

The al-Hillah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US gunfire killed one civilian and wounded a group of others who were later taken to hospital for treatment.
