Al-Anbar Province.
Al-Fallujah.

Resistance bomb reportedly kills three US Marines in al-Fallujah Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 2:38pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US Marine patrol in al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad, on Saturday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road blew up by a US patrol destroying a military vehicle and killing three Marines.

The patrol then came under a second attack when the bomb caused it to come to a halt. The Americans called in helicopter air support when the Resistance men suddenly attacked from the al-Muhandis neighborhood of the city firing rockets and machine guns and sparking a battle that lasted about half an hour. A second US vehicle was destroyed in the ambush but no information on casualties in that engagement was available because US troops opened fire indiscriminately and surrounded the area, keeping anyone from approaching.

Ar-Ramadi.

Resistance car bomber blasts US column near ar-Ramadi late Saturday, killing a reported 10 US troops.

In a dispatch posted at 9:04pm Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, an Iraqi Resistance fida’i fighter had driven an explosives-laden car into a US military column near ar-Ramadi, 110km west of Baghdad.

The ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that a Resistance fighter in a car bomb plunged into a US column in the Kilo Five area northeast of ar-Ramadi and blew up. The witnesses said that the explosion completely destroyed two American military vehicles, killing at least 10 US troops.

The correspondent reported that the Resistance fighter had belonged to the Abu Dajjanah al-Ansari Brigade of the Islamic State of Iraq Resistance organization. US forces surrounded the area after the attack.

Resistance fighters destroy two US vehicles in Saturday battle with American troops.

In a dispatch posted at 6:53pm Makkah time Saturday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fighting that had raged since midday between Iraqi Resistance men and US troops in ar-Ramadi had left two US military vehicles destroyed and a third disabled in addition to one helicopter damaged.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the fighting broke out spontaneously when Resistance men were caught by surprise as US troops with a large vehicle raided their neighborhood, intent on rounding up and arresting people. The Resistance men then decided to intercept the American column and called for backup from their other Resistance brothers in the city.

The source reported that the fighting left on Resistance man dead and tow more wounded. When US helicopters arrived on the scene to help the American ground troops, the Resistance fighters issued orders to withdraw from the area to avoid American air strikes on the neighborhood in which women and children might be killed.

Resistance fire hits US Apache helicopter over ar-Ramadi.

In a bulletin posted at 2:47pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces’ fire had just struck a US Apache helicopter over ar-Ramadi, about 110km west of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the ferocity of the battle was escalating and the Resistance fighters had fired medium weapons at an Apache, kitting it and causing smoke to pour out of the aircraft. No more information on the Apache’s fate was known.

In just a few weeks, Resistance fighters have shot down six US helicopters

Resistance battles US troops in ar-Ramadi Saturday morning.

In a bulletin posted at 10:57am Makkah time Saturday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce fighting was raging at that time between Iraqi Resistance men and US troops in the al-Mal‘ab district of ar-Ramadi, about 110km west of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that swarms of US helicopters and warplanes were sweeping across the skies over the city where the only thing that could be heard were the sounds of explosions and heavy gunfire coming from both sides, accompanied by calls of “Allahu akbar!” (“God is greatest!”) and prayers being chanted over mosque loudspeaker systems as encouragement for the Resistance men.

Baghdad.

Iraqi puppet “court” in Baghdad sentences three women to death for carrying out Resistance attacks. They were not permitted legal counsel.

In a dispatch posted at 3:33pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the puppet “Iraqi Supreme Criminal Court” has ordered the execution of three Iraqi women on charges of involvement in Resistance attacks in Baghdad. The puppet “court” called such Resistance activity “terrorism.”

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the Iraqi Lawyers’ Guild as saying that the women, all Sunnis, were:

Wasin Talib, aged 31, who was charged with killing five puppet policemen during a Resistance attack;

Zaynab Fadil, 25, charge with attacking a joint patrol of US and Iraqi puppet forces Baghdad in September 2006 together with her husband and cousin; and

Liqa’ ‘Umar Muhammad, 26, charged with taking part with her husband and brother in the killing of an official in the top security “Green Zone” area around the Republican Palace in downtown Baghdad.

Attourney Walid al-Hayyali said that the court ordered the execution of the women under Paragraph 156, without allowing them to appoint any lawyer to represent them and argue their case. Since they have no lawyers, they are unable to appeal or ask for a dismissal of the charges against them.

Al-Hayyali called on the Islamic world to act to denounce the “verdict” and halt the execution of the three women, noting that Liqa’ Muhammad had given birth in prison a few months ago and is still nursing her child, and Wasin Talib has a 3-year old daughter.

The three women are currently being held in the al-Kazimiyah Prison located in the Shi‘i district of al-Kazimiyah in Baghdad, a stronghold of the pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia.

In a dispatch posted at 9:49pm Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Hajjah Hamdiyah al-‘Isawi, the mother of Liqa’ ‘Umar Muhammad pleaded for the release of her daughter. She said that if her daughter, scheduled to be hanged on 3 March, cannot be released then it would be better if the Resistance bombard the prison and let her die rather than fall into the clutches of the pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarians gunmen.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam met al-Hajjah Hamdiyah al-‘Isawi in her home in central Baghdad. She said that when her daughter was arrested, she was in her first month of pregnancy and that just one month ago she had given birth behind bars. Al-Hajjah Hamdiyah said she had no information on what happened to her granddaughter.

She said that the puppet “court” had not permitted her to appoint a lawyer to represent her daughter, nor had she been told when the trial was going to be. Al-Hajjah Hamdiyah said that her daughter Liqa’ was charged with being a member of al-Qa‘idah and killing puppet policemen, but she said that Liqa’ had actually been out of Iraq at the time of the incident she was “convicted” of committing.

Al-Hajjah Hamdiyah told Mafkarat al-Islam that she had been looking for someone who can come to the rescue, and hoped that through the news agency someone somewhere might be able to do something to prevent her daughter’s execution.

The correspondent reported that his interview with al-Hajjah Hamdiyah ended when the woman fainted from the stress to which she had been subject.

US troops arrest Sunni religious leader Saturday night.

In a dispatch posted at 9:01pm Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, US troops had raided the al-Mustafa Mosque in the Baghdad area of al-Yarmuk and arrested the Imam, Shaykh Junayd al-Baghdadi.

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US troops surrounded the mosque and raided it after the nighttime prayers Saturday. They walked into the building with their boots on with their police dogs and handcuffed Shaykh Junayd and took him away without explaining their action.

It is the US practice to desecrate the sanctuaries of Sunni mosques in Iraq, storming in without regard for the sanctity of the places.

Resistance car bomb targets Jaysh al-Mahdi headquarters in Baghdad’s al-Kamaliyah district Saturday afternoon.

In a bulletin posted at 3:50pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a car bomb had just blown up in the al-Kamaliyah district, a stronghold of the pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia moments earlier.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an explosives-laden car that had been parked in front of the old al-Khansa’ Communications Center, which the pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia took over and turned into one of their headquarters in February 2006.

The correspondent reported that there were dead and wounded in the attack and that ambulances were racing to the area, which had already been cordoned off.

In a dispatch posted at 6:23pm Makkah time Saturday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the car bombing had killed or wounded 11 people, among them Nahi Jabbarah al-‘Amiri, a prominent local leader of the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, a man implicated in the death of the Imam of the Sunni as-Sabbar Mosque about a year ago.

Demonstrations sweep Baghdad’s al-A‘zamiyah district to protest arrest of local religious leader and his wife.

In a dispatch posted at 2:51pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier demonstrations were launched in the al-A‘zamiyah district of Baghdad to protest the arrest by US forces of Shaykh Muhammad, the Imam of the al-‘Assaf Mosque in the area, together with his wife.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the Americans raided the home of Shaykh Muhammad and arrested him and his wife as part of the Bush − al-Maliki “Security Plan” for Baghdad.

Protestors swept through the streets of al-A‘zamiyah denouncing and threatening the Americans over the arrest of the Shaykh and his wife.

The correspondent noted that US and puppet forces in Iraq have carried out arrests of wives and mothers of “suspects” on a large scale throughout the country as a means of applying pressure on the men to surrender. Threats that the women will be harmed are circulated at the time of the arrest, unless the “suspects” turn themselves in and provide the occupation forces what they want.

Resistance car bomb kills seven at propaganda office of Badr Brigades in Baghdad’s al-Karradah district.

In a dispatch posted at 2:28pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance carbomb exploded by a headquarters of the pro-American Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigades in the al-Karradah area of Baghdad on Saturday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the car bomb went off by the Bayt ash-Shawkah building in the Arkhitah area of al-Karradah, a structure that the Badr Brigades use as a propaganda office. The witnesses said that the blast, which was set off by a remote-controlled detonator, killed seven of the sectarian militiamen and wounded four more of them.

The correspondent reported the witnesses as saying that the building contained a large office devoted to propaganda of the “ideas of the Shi‘i revolution.”

Salah ad-Din Province.
Ad-Dulu‘iyah.

Fifteen local residents dead on third day of American-imposed blockade and curfew in ad-Dulu‘iyah.

In a dispatch posted at 2:33pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that for the third day in a row US troops were keeping the city of ad-Dulu‘iyah, about 90km north of Baghdad, blockaded and surrounded.

The Samarra’ correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported in a telephone conversation with witnesses in ad-Dulu‘iyah that occupation troops had taken over government departments, expelling a large number of puppet policemen on charges of sympathizing with the Iraqi Resistance.

Local residents said that the Americans had seized more than 13 local residents’ houses to be used as sniper perches after the families that had lived in them were thrown out. The correspondent reported that so far, more than 15 local civilian residents had died as a result of the curfew and blockade, six of them women and two of them children.

Diyala Province.
Ba‘qubah.

Resistance bomb leaves US soldier reported dead in Ba‘qubah Saturday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 6:28pm Makkah time Saturday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in the at-Tahrir area in the southern al-Katun district of Ba‘qubah, 65km northeast of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the bome disabled a US military vehicle, killing one American soldier and wounding three more of them at 3pm local time Saturday afternoon.

At the time of reporting the area where the attack occurred was still cordoned off.

Six US troops reported killed when booby-trapped house blows up over them in Ba‘qubah.

In a dispatch posted at 6:20pm Makkah time Saturday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier a house that Iraqi Resistance forces had rigged with explosives, blew up over a US patrol in the al-Katun area of Ba‘qubah, 65km northeast of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported from in front of the house that Resistance fighters had boobytrapped the single-story structure in the middle of al-Katun. The building blew it up when US troops went in to search it. The correspondent reported that as of the time of reporting, six Americans were dead and three more of them wounded. US troops were still digging through the rubble of the house searching for another American who at that time was officially listed as “missing” in the attack.

Buhriz.

US troops make mass arrests, surround, raid girls school in Buhriz.

In a dispatch posted at 2:07pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US troops blockaded the city of Buhriz just south of Ba‘qubah, about 65km northeast of Baghdad and carried out a campaign of raids, arrests and seizures of houses for use as perches for American snipers

The Ba‘qubah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that more than 50 local people had been arrested as of the time of reporting. Ms. Ibtisam ‘Abdallah, the Director of the al-Yamamah Secondary School for Girls called on people of good will to act to drive the US troops out from around the school, in which 200 schoolgirls were surrounded by American soldiers.

The correspondent reported that Shi‘i sectarian militiamen were supporting the Americans as they raided the school. The sectarians translated for the Americans and asked the schoolgirls about what their fathers and brothers did for a living. Buhriz is currently in a state of extreme tension, the correspondent added, particularly after the US troops and their Shi‘i sectarian allies started raiding the girls’ school.

In a dispatch posted at 6:45pm Makkah time Saturday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US snipers who had perched themselves atop local buildings started to shoot at people in the streets of Buhriz, killing four local civilians and wounding five more of them.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that meanwhile, tribal leaders and local notables had managed to get the students from the al-Yamamah girls’ school out of the building where they had been confined since the American assault on the city began earlier in the day.

US troops used loudspeakers to tell residents of the city that they were going to search every house in Buhriz, confiscating weapons and arresting their owners. The Americans gave the local residents four hours in which to turn in all their arms before the raids begin.

Babil Province.
Al-Mahmudiyah.

Resistance fighter attack, surround Marine column in al-Mahmudiyah Saturday night.

In a dispatch posted at 10:23pm Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at that hour a detachment of the Iraqi Resistance organization, the Jaysh Ansar as-Sunnah (Army of the Partisans of the Sunnah) was surrounding a US column that it had ambushed in the city of al-Mahmudiyah, about 30km south of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a Jaysh Ansar as-Sunnah force assaulted the column of five US military vehicles in the Shakhah No. 3 agricultural area, attacking them from two directions. The Resistance men were engaging the American Marines in battle at that moment. So far, two vehicles had been destroyed in the Resistance attack.

The loudspeakers on the mosques of al-Mahmudiyah, al-Mustafa, al-Gharir, and as-Sa‘idat were broadcasting calls of “Allahu akbar!” (“God is greatest!”) and prayers for the Resistance men. A source in the Jaysh Ansar as-Sunnah told Mafkarat al-Islam that as of that moment, the battle was going in favor of the Resistance fighters.

In a bulletin posted at 9:03pm Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance marksman had shot and killed a US Marine in Tall ‘Afar a short while earlier.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a US force was halted in the as-Saray neighborhood of Tall ‘Afar when an Iraqi Resistance sharpshooter opened fire on two American troops. The bullets missed the first soldier, apparently, who was seen running into a tobacco store next to where he had been standing. The other American took a direct hit in the head from the Resistance fighter’s bullet, killing him instantly.

Afterwards, the correspondent reported, the Americans completely closed off the area and began raiding and searching two commercial buildings on the scene. Local residents said, however, that the sharpshooter had already successfully left the area.

An-Najaf Province.
An-Najaf.

Pro-Iranian militiamen assassinate Shaykh of Arab Shi‘i tribe in an-Najaf.

In a dispatch posted at 3:06pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, pro-Iranian militiamen assassinated Laftah al-Hatimi, the Shaykh of the al-Bu Suyalim branch of the al-Hatimi tribe in the az-Zarkah area of an-Najaf. The al-Hatimi tribe is an Arab Shi‘i tribe that has expressed loyalty to Iraqi President Saddam Husayn and opposition to the pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian regime imposed in Iraq by the American occupation.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Shaykh Laftah al-Hatimi was shot and killed in the al-‘Askari neighborhood of an-Najaf by masked, armed men who opened fire on his car, killing him instantly.

The al-Hatimi tribe, along with its ally the al-Khaz‘ali tribe, were targeted for massacre by puppet Iraqi regime troops and US aircraft flying air support on Sunday, 28 January 2007. Tribal sources at the time said that about 130 tribesmen and women perished in the attack, later reports put the death toll at nearly 250 tribesmen. The US-backed regime tried to conceal the true nature of its attack on the tribesmen, who were coming to an-Najaf to mark the Shi‘i ‘Ashura’ holy day, first by claiming that the tribesmen were fighters for al-Qa‘idah, then by claiming that they had been participants in an uprising led by a Shi‘i cult leader.
