US abandons base in al-Khalidiyah after just two days following incessant Resistance bombardment.

In a dispatch posted at 9:30pm Makkah time Tuesday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces left one of their bases in al-Khalidiyah, 90km west of Baghdad, just two days after “securing it,” due to persistent Iraqi Resistance attacks.

The al-Khalidiyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US troops vacated the base that they had started building 40 days earlier and then settled into just two days earlier. The correspondent reported that local residents were surprised at the move, which followed incessant Iraqi Resistance rocket attacks that targeted the facility since the American troops moved in.

Local residents estimated that more than 70 rockets and mortar shells had blasted into the new American camp in the two days since the Americans took over and set up their observation tower atop its walls. After the US troops left, the Iraqi puppet police refused to take over the base, regarding it as militarily unsafe, in light of how easy it had been for the Resistance to blast it with missiles.

The witnesses said that the attack sparked a fierce battle that left one Humvee disabled and a second severely damaged. Two US troops were killed and three more wounded, the witnesses said, adding that the Americans closed off the entire area after the attack and evacuated the wrecked vehicles and the dead and wounded soldiers.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance pounds US base in al-Fallujah with heavy mortars midday Tuesday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source in the puppet police as saying that the barrage set off violent explosions that shook the whole base and were heard throughout al-Fallujah. Clouds of smoke and dust rose into the sky from within the American-occupied facility.

Local farmers said that they saw the American vehicle ablaze as US troops rushed to pull troops out of it. Two were dead and two others were pulled out severely wounded. Afterwards, US troops imposed a wide “security cordon” around the area where the attack occurred north of the highway, so that those on the highway would not be able to see the damaged American vehicle.

Resistance attacks puppet army camp in northern al-Fallujah.

The witnesses said that the attack sparked a battle that lasted for more than 20 minutes and destroyed parts of the camp. Although the regime released no information on the nature or extent of casualties it was thought likely that there had been deaths.
