アフガンで米副大統領狙った自爆テロ 米空軍基地で18人死亡
【アルジャジーラ特約２７日】チェイニー米副大統領が訪問中のアフガニスタンで２７日、首都カブール北方にある米空軍基地内で自爆テロ事件が起き、米兵１人ら外国人兵３人を含め少なくとも１８人が死亡した。
チェイニー副大統領はテロ事件発生時、同空軍基地内に滞在していたが、無事だった。
反政府武装勢力のタリバン旧政権勢力がアルジャジーラの取材に犯行を認めた。
自爆テロのあったのはカブールから北へ６０キロ離れたバグラム空軍基地で、チェイニー副大統領の訪問により、周辺は厳重警戒態勢下に置かれていた。
これまでの調べによると、自爆犯は車タンクローリーに乗り、同基地の最初の検問所を通過後、米兵が警戒していた次の検問所で制止された際に自爆したという。
アフガニスタン内務省の報道官は、「死者は１８人で、このうち３人が外国人の兵士で、残り１５人は同基地内で働くため出勤途中のアフガニスタン人だった」と明らかにした。
死亡した外国人兵士３人に関し、韓国の国防省当局者はうち１人はが同国軍兵士だったと発表した。
米軍当局者は今回の自爆テロを「基地を直接狙ったテロ事件」との見方を示した。
同空軍基地周辺で取材していたアルジャジーラ特派員、ワリ・アラー・シャヒン記者が伝えた目撃者談によると、自爆犯は燃料を積んだタンクローリーを運転して基地内に入り込んだ。
タンクローリーが２番目の検問所で制止されると、運転手が車外に出てから自爆したという。
米軍当局は現場に駆けつけた取材陣および被害者らの家族らの基地内立ち入りを禁止している。
一方、タリバン旧政権のカリ・ユシフ・アフマディ報道担当はアルジャジーラの電話取材に対し、自爆犯がアブドゥ・ラヒム名の男性で、カブール南部ロガル州出身だと明らかにした。
アフマディ報道担当は「狙いはチェイニー副大統領だった」と言明した。
チェイニー副大統領は二十六日、パキスタンから同空軍基地に到着、２７日にカルザイ・アフガニスタン大統領と会談する予定だった。同テロ事件後、同会談はカブールで行われた。

A martyrdom bomber detonated his payload outside a US military base near Kabul during a visit by US Vice President Dick Cheney on Tuesday, killing more than 20 and narrowly missing Cheney while making clear Americans are not welcome in the Islamic state.
A spokesman for NATO, who has bungled the job of security throughout Afghanistan said the bomber set off the explosion at the gate of the primary US military base in Afghanistan. The attack occurred while Cheney was inside the base, about 50 km north of Kabul but he was not hurt, US military spokesman Master Sergeant Richard Simonsen said.
Taliban spokesman Qari Yusuf claimed responsibility to Deutsche Presse-Agentur via telephone from an undisclosed location. He said that more than 20 people were killed and 30 were injured, the majority of them US soldiers and was carried out by an Afghan national named Abdul Rahim from Logar province.
Hours prior to the attack, about 10:30am, Cheney met with US soldiers stationed at the base and had breakfast with them. An hour following the close call, a visibly shaken Cheney struggled for composure in front of cameras posing with puppet president Hamid Karzai.
This latest strike emphasizes what the Commander of the Faithful, Mullah Omar, has been promising for the past few months; that is that the Taliban are taking out all the stops as they head into their much awaited Spring offensive. Over 1000 Afghan martyrs are said to be waiting for missions to be carried out in the coming months.
In a second martyrdom operation Tuesday, a bomber detonated explosives strapped to his body outside a government office in Kandahar, killing one and wounding two other people, local police said. The attack occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m. as the bomber tried to gain entry into the national security directorate in downtown Kandahar but was recognized before he could enter the building. There has been no official claim of responsibility from the Taliban as of press time.
Eight Puppet Police Killed In Khost
On Monday, at approximately 8:00am, another Mujahid of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Taliban named Aslam carried out yet another martyrdom strike on the police headquarters in the city of Khost, bring to three the number of martyrdom attacks within 24 hours. Eight puppet policemen were killed and eleven others wounded before the station and vehicles parked their were demolished according to a report from Taliban spokesman Mujahid Zabeeh Ullah.
Taliban spokesman Qari Yusuf also reported that on Monday morning a heavy clash broke out between Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate and so-called Afghan soldiers. Five were captured and a number of Afghan soldiers were killed and wounded near Tarin Kot city in Uruzgan province according to the report. Several vehicles were also destroyed in the attack.
Dutch Tank Destroyed In Uruzgan
Also Monday morning, Mujahideen from the Islamic Emirate destroyed a Dutch tank with a remote controlled landmine while it was on a routine patrol in Musa Zay village near Tarin Kot, the capital of Uruzgan province. The tank was completely destroyed and the soldiers on board were killed an wounded. On Sunday, Mujahideen claimed a similar attack in the same village with a large number of NATO soldiers killed and wounded according to the report from Taliban spokesman Qari Yusuf.
Monday evening, Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate fired several mortar rounds at the district office building in Muhmand Dara district of Nangarhar province however Taliban spokesman Mujahid Zabeeh Ullah said that there were no accurate details on casualties. He also went on to say that the Taliban Mujahideen carry out similar attacks every night in the same area.
Governor, Police Commander Fired For Taliban Links
Afghan authorities detained a district governor and his police commander for alleged links with the Taliban Monday after Mujahideen captured Bakwa district in the western province of Farah a week ago. The so-called Interior Ministry warned Taliban Mujahideen who have occupied a small southern town for more than three weeks to leave or face military action including air strikes.
The detained officials were dismissed from their jobs after the Taliban were able to hold the district capital for several hours before being ejected by security forces.
"They were detained over links to Taliban," an Interior Ministry spokesman said, in this latest development that indicates the strength of support for the Taliban effort.
Three NATO Tanks Destroyed
Late Sunday night, a heavy battle broke out in Daychopan district of Zabol province between Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate and the NATO invaders. Three NATO tanks were destroyed and a large number of soldiers were killed and wounded according to a report from Taliban spokesman Qari Yusuf. The dead and injured were transported from the area by helicopters before NATO bombed the area, injuring a number of civilians and damages several houses. (JUS)
