Resistance bombards puppet “National Guard” headquarters in al-Khalidiyah early Wednesday.

In a dispatch posted at 4:31pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired five 82mm mortar rounds into a headquarters of the puppet “Iraqi National Guard” in the city of al-Khalidiyah, 90km west of Baghdad at about 7am local time Wednesday morning.

The al-Khalidiyah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the shells scored direct hits on their headquarters and the surrounding fortifications. At least three of the “National Guards” were killed when two of the shells hit the fortification area of the headquarters. Plumes of smoke and dust rose over the headquarters after the barrage.

Ar-Ramadi.

US Marine sniper guns down five-year-old boy in ar-Ramadi.

In a dispatch posted at 10:49am Makkah time Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an American sniper opened fire on a local woman and her child in the al-Mal ‘ab area of ar-Ramadi, 110km west of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the area as saying that a US Marine sniper opened fire for no apparent reason on Ms. Sabriyah Ahmad ‘Akkab and her five-year-old son Ahmad. One bullet killed the boy, another wounded his mother in the leg. Since the Americans had imposed a curfew on the city, banning all motor traffic from the streets, neither the woman nor her son could at first be taken to hospital.

The witnesses said that after an hour the wounded woman was finally transported to hospital, by which time her small son was dead.

Under the terms of the curfew imposed by the Americans no one is allowed out except during specific hours of the day and all vehicles are banned.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance assaults puppet “Iraqi National Guard” base in al-Fallujah at noon Wednesday.

In a dispatch posted at 4:28pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters launched a fierce attack on a military base occupied by the puppet “Iraqi National Guards” in al-Fallujah, about 60km west of Baghdad at midday Wednesday.

The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that the Resistance men fired rockets and light and medium machine guns at the base in the ar-Risalah neighborhood of the city, sparking a gun battle that lasted for about 15 minutes. Afterwards, the Resistance fighters withdrew from the area.

US troops open fire on car, killing two brothers near al-Fallujah Wednesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 10:28am Makkah time Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US troops opened fire on a car in the al-Karmah area Wednesday morning, killing two brothers for no known reason.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of the al-Haswayat area in western al-Karmah, about 7km east of al-Fallujah, as saying that the brothers Riyad as-Subayhi and his brother Ahmad as-Subayhi were driving to Baghdad to try to find news of their nephew who had been kidnapped a week earlier near ash-Shu‘lah and had not been heard from since then.

The witnesses said that when the brothers’ car passed near the puppet police station in al-Karmah, a patrol of Americans that was there suddenly unleashed a hail of bullets on the car, killing both brothers instantly.

The correspondent reported that the bodies of the two men were taken to the city hospital by the local puppet police.

Resistance mounts attack on puppet “National Guard” outpost in al-Fallujah Tuesday night.

In a dispatch posted at 10:26am Makkah time Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters attacked an Iraqi puppet army military camp in al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad, at 8pm Tuesday night.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of the al-‘Askari neighborhood in the north of the city as saying that heavily-armed Resistance men firing medium weapons, including RPG-7 rocket-propelled grenades, S5K rockets, and light machine guns, attacked the residential area that the puppet “National Guards” have commandeered and turned into their camp. The attack sparked a battle that lasted for nearly half an hour.

Witnesses said that four puppet “Guards” were killed and a number more wounded. The Resistance attackers also scored direct hits on sniper perches, bringing down four of them overlooking the main street, as the Resistance men shouted “Allahu akbar!”

After the battle, puppet forces searched all the houses overlooking the area, wrecking furniture in each one of them and shouting abuse and insults at the residents.

Resistance mortars pound puppet “National Guard” checkpoint.

In a dispatch posted at 10:47am Makkah time Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance men armed with mortars attacked a checkpoint manned by puppet “Iraqi National Guards” and puppet police in the city of Hit, 180km northwest of Baghdad on Wednesday morning.

The Hit correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a resident of Hit as saying that the Resistance mounted a mortar attack on the checkpoint located near the at-Tayyibat Restaurant that blocks the way to traffic coming from al-Muhammadi to the east of the city. For more than a week, US and puppet forces have enforced a curfew on the city.

The source said that at least eight 82mm mortar rounds blasted into the checkpoint, killing four puppet “National Guards” and wounding two puppet policemen. Smoke rose into the sky as explosions shook the area. US and puppet forces posted at the city governorate building and old police station rushed to the roadblock and prevented any traffic from getting into the area, provoking a major traffic jam.

Baghdad.

Car bomb in ad-Durah targets Shi‘i sectarians heading towards Karbala’.

In a dispatch posted at 7:48pm Makkah time Wednesday evening, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a car bomb exploded by a Shi‘i procession on its way to Karbala’ to observe the 40th day following the anniversary of the death of the Shi‘i saint al-Husayn ibn ‘Ali 1,327 years ago.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported sources in al-Yarmuk General Hospital as saying that a man drove a car into the crowd of Shi‘ah that was moving along the highway through the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah on Wednesday afternoon. The source said that 31 Shi‘ah were killed or wounded in the attack.

Resistance fighters kill five puppet policemen at fake checkpoint in southern Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 4:11pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance men set up a fake roadblock in the southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah and then entrapped and killed five puppet policemen there on Wednesday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source as saying that the Resistance men set up a fake checkpoint and stopped two cars that were carrying a group of off-duty puppet policemen wearing civilian clothes. The sources said that the Resistance men made five of the puppet police get out of one car and shot them to death immediately. The second car then managed to flee.

Two US troops reported killed in Resistance bombing in at-Taji Wednesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 4:05pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol near the northern Baghdad suburb of at-Taji Wednesday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported motorists who were in the area and witnessed the attack as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the main road to at-Taji blew up when an American patrol drove past along the road. The witnesses said that the blast completely destroyed a Humvee, killing two US troops and wounding two more of them.

The witnesses reported that the patrol responded to the attack by opening fire around the area, wounding two civilians and striking a number of civilian cars.

Resistance fighters destroy Jaysh al-Mahdi headquarters in al-Muwasalat neighborhood Wednesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 3:59pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters stormed a headquarters of the pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi in the al-Muwasalat neighborhood of southwestern Baghdad, on Wednesday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Resistance men infiltrated thea rea and attacked and destroyed the headquarters and then withdrew from the area.

Shi‘i “Iraqi Alliance” coalition begins to split as “Virtue Party” pulls out of sectarian bloc.

In a dispatch posted at 3:05pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that in a move that appeared to signal serious erosion of the pro-American Shi‘i sectarian political forces in Iraq, the Shi‘i sectarian “Islamic Virtue” or Fadilah Party announced on Wednesday that it was withdrawing from the so-called United Iraqi Alliance, a Shi‘i sectarian coalition dominated by ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-Hakim and his Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI).

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Virtue Party held a press conference in Baghdad to announce its withdrawal from the coalition, saying that it had been transformed into a “hatemongering sectarian bloc.” The Virtue Party’s spokesman Nadim al-Jabiri announced the formation of a bloc of its own, saying that the party would work to end the Sunni-Shi‘i struggle.

The Virtue Party dominates the city of al-Basrah and has 15 seats in the puppet “Iraqi Parliament.

Puppet “National Guards” carry out raids, arrests on Hayfa Street, rounding up boys as young as 12.

In a dispatch posted at 11:17am Makkah time Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that puppet “National Guards” carried out raids on Hayfa Street in Baghdad at dawn on Wednesday, arresting dozens of people, including boys, on the pretext that they were involved in attacks on the Americans and puppet forces.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of the “6 Street” area located behind Hayfa Street as saying that puppet troops of the 5th Brigade stormed Hayfa Street and raided residential buildings there, smashing down house doors. The witnesses said that the attackers arrested at least 38 people, among them boys no older than 12, on the pretext that they had been regularly attacking the occupation forces and their Iraqi puppet allies.

The witnesses said that the troops, Shi‘i sectarian militiamen who were concurrently members of the puppet “National Guard” paid no attention to the pleas of mothers. Local residents believe the raids are part of the Bush − al-Maliki “New Security Plan” being imposed on Baghdad, aimed at facilitating the “cleansing” of Sunni residents of Baghdad.

US forces raid home of member of puppet “parliament.”

In a dispatch posted at 10:33am Makkah time Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a joint force of US troops and their Iraqi puppet allies raided the home of Nur ad-Din al-Hayyali in al-Harithiyah. Al-Hayyali is a member of the Iraqi puppet parliament for the collaborationist Reconciliation Front.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a source close to al-Hayyali’s guards as saying that the Americans raided his home Tuesday afternoon. They ransacked it and arrested four of his bodyguards. Al-Hayyali himself was not home at the time of the raid. The Americans seized four Kalashnikov machine guns and some pistols, all used by his bodyguards. No information was available on the reason for the American raid.

Al-Mushahadah.

In apparent sectarian attack, four Shi‘i pilgrims shot to death in al-Mushahadah.

In a dispatch posted at 12:55pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that in an apparent sectarian attack in al-Mushahadah, 25km north of Baghdad, gunmen in a car opened fire on another car carrying pilgrims intent on attending religious services to mark the 40th day after the anniversary of the death of al-Husayn ibn ‘Ali, 1,327 years ago.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that men in a Supra car opened fire with machine guns on another civilian car carrying residents of the village of ad-Dujayl, about 55km north of Baghdad, who were headed to Baghdad to attend Shi‘i religious observances. Four people were killed and two more wounded in the attack.

Samarra’.

US forces impose curfew on Samarra’, lift curfews in ad-Dulu‘iyah, Bayji.

In a dispatch posted at 11:18am Makkah time Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US occupation forces accompanied by their allies in the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” imposed a curfew on all movement in the streets of the city of Samarra’, 120km north of Baghdad beginning on Tuesday. The US forces and their allies then began widespread raids and searches in various parts of the city.

The Samarra’ correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of the market area as saying that a total curfew covering pedestrian as well as vehicular traffic was imposed on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, US forces lifted the several-day-old curfew from the city of ad-Dulu‘iyah, 97km north of Baghdad, and also raised the curfew they had imposed on the city of Bayji about 200km north of the occupied Iraqi capital.

Balad Ruz.

Bomb destroys popular coffee house in Balad Ruz killing Sunnis and Shi‘ah.

In a dispatch posted at 9:48pm Makkah time Wednesday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that 25 people were killed and 20 more wounded when a man wearing an explosive belt waled into a popular coffee house in Balad Ruz, 65km northeast of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a medical source as saying that the casualties were both Sunni and Shi‘i, and included Sunni Turkomans who were also present in the popular coffee house. A total of 13 of the victims were said to be Sunni.

The correspondent reported that the coffee house, located in the Dawr Mandali neighborhood, was completely destroyed and that ambulances rushed to the scene to try to recover dead and wounded persons from under the rubble. There were some unconfirmed reports that puppet police were among those present in the coffee house at the time of the attack.

Ba‘qubah.

Resistance men attack puppet police in Ba‘qubah, sparking battle with US troops.

In a dispatch posted at 3:04pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier fierce fighting erupted between Iraqi Resistance fighters and US occupation troops accompanied by their Iraqi puppet army allies in the city of Ba‘qubah, 65km northeast of Baghdad. The battle broke out following an attack in which 15 puppet policemen were killed or wounded.

The Ba‘qubah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Resistance men attacked the city bank in the al-Manjarah district when puppet policemen were there collecting their pay. The attack left 15 of them dead or wounded. Sources in the city said that the attack brought out US forces, sparking a battle between them and the Resistance men near the bank. That combat was still under way at the time of reporting.

The market and shops in the area of the bank were closed down after the outbreak of the fighting which was fierce.

Al-Latifiyah.

Resistance fighters ambush car killing seven Jaysh al-Mahdi sectarian gunmen.

In a dispatch posted at 3:55pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Resistance fighters ambushed a small Kia car killing seven pro-Iranian Shi‘isectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi gunmen in the al-Latifiyah area, about 30km south of Baghdad on Wednesday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of al-Latifiyah as saying tat the Resistance fighters sprayed the car with a hail of machine gun bullets, completely destroying the car and killing all seven Jaysh al-Mahdi militiamen inside.

Kirkuk.

Resistance bomb destroys US Humvee southwest of Kirkuk midday Wednesday.

In a dispatch posted at 4:29pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US patrol in the area of ar-Riyad, about 30km southwest of Kirkuk in northern Iraq at 12:30pm local time Wednesday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the area as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the main road in the ar-Riyad area went off by a US patrol destroying a Humvee and killing or wounding all the US troops who were inside.

Al-Mawsil.

Resistance bomb targets puppet “National Guard” patrol in al-Mawsil Wednesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 12:04pm Makkah time midday Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a puppet “Iraqi National Guard” patrol in the az-Zuhur neighborhood of central al-Mawsil Wednesday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police source who asked not to be identified as saying that the bomb went off by a Humvee that was part of a puppet “National Guard” patrol, destroying the vehicle and killing one puppet “Guardsman.” Two more puppet “Guards” were wounded in the attack, after which, the troops closed the road, evacuated their casualties to a nearby hospital, and hauled away the wreckage.
