In a dispatch posted at 3:41pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a car bomber drove an explosives-laden car into a puppet police checkpoint at the entrance to the city of al-Baghdadi, about 200km northwest of Baghdad.

Mafkarat al-Islam reported that that attacker detonated his car as a large number of Sunni civilians were gathered at the checkpoint for the routine searches required of those trying to get into the city. The blast killed four puppet policemen and one civilian and wounded 17 other civilians. Medical sources on the scene said that nine of the wounded were in grave condition.

Al-Fallujah.

Concentrated Resistance attack targets US headquarters in al-Fallujah, killing 10 puppet policemen, inflicting US casualties as well, in al-Fallujah Wednesday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 1:14pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported two car bombs being driven by Resistance fida’i fighters, struck the US military headquarters in al-Fallujah. That assault was followed by an intense rocket and rocket-propelled grenade attack in the most ferocious Resistance attack since the Second Battle of al-Fallujah.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Colonel Muhammad al-‘Isawi of the operations command of the al-Fallujah puppet police as saying that by preliminary count 10 puppet policemen had been killed and 25 more of them wounded. He added that 30 US Marines had been killed or wounded in the attack.

The attack began when a Resistance fighters driving a big explosives-packed truck blasted into the US base in the al-Wahdah district of al-Fallujah, blowing up at the main gate. That attack was intended to open the way for the second attacker who drove another large truck laden with chlorine gas into the base and blew up.

The puppet security source said that the second blat intensely shook the entire base. Then a minute later or perhaps less, a mortar shell and a rocket slammed into the area. With that a gun battle erupted between Resistance fighters outside the base and US troops backed up by their Iraqi puppet army allies. The Resistance men fired shoulder-launched rockets and threw hand grenades at the US and puppet forces.

The source said that after the attack, the Americans called in reinforcements that arrived in vehicles as US helicopters and ambulances evacuated the American dead and wounded but left the puppet police casualties lying on the ground − to the irritation of puppet police spokesman al-‘Isawi − particularly since the Americans also blocked the arrival of Iraqi ambulances to the area.

In a dispatch posted at 3:03pm Baghdad time Wednesday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that two car bombs exploded by the joint headquarters of US troops and Iraqi puppet police in al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad on Wednesday morning.

AMSI reported a puppet police source as saying that the two explosions killed 10 puppet policemen and wounded three more of them. Afterwards, the Americans imposed a three-day curfew on the city, which they also sealed off from the outside world.

A medical source in the city reported that the hospital had received dozens of wounded. The source said that the hospital was “jammed” with wounded, some of them in extremely grave condition − an indication that the death toll was likely to rise.

In a dispatch posted on Wednesday, Quds Press reported that a rocket blasted into a US security center in the Baghdad area nicknamed “Madinat as-Sadr” that afternoon.

Residents who live near the al-Jaza’ir puppet police station − a facility the Americans have turned into a security center for themselves in “Madinat as-Sadr” − reported that a rocket landed on the building, destroying part of the structure and inflicting casualties among the American troops.

A puppet Iraqi security source told Quds Press that the attack wounded four US soldiers, all of whom were evacuated to a hospital in one of the American bases in Baghdad for treatment.

Quds Press noted that followers of pro-Iranian Shi ‘ sectarian cleric Muqtada as-Sadr had organized a demonstration in which they denounced the presence of a US security office within the so-called “Madinat as-Sadr” district − a stronghold of the as-Sadr movement and its Jaysh al-Mahdi militia.

Tall ‘Afar.

Puppet police, Shi‘i sectarians massacre 70 Sunnis in Tall ‘Afar.

In a dispatch posted at 10:50am Makkah time Wednesday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that members of the puppet police together with pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian militias had carried out a massacre of Sunni Iraqis in the northern city of Tall ‘Afar, about 55km west of al-Mawsil.

On Wednesday morning, journalist Nasir Muhammad spoke by telephone from Tall ‘Afar to al-Jazeera satellite TV, saying that two Iraqi puppet policemen and members of armed militias committed a “frightful massacre” when they forced 47 men and youths who live in the al-Wahdah neighborhood out of their houses and then shot them all in their heads, execution style.

Nasir Muhammad told al-Jazeera, as monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam, that the bodies of the murdered men were taken to the city hospital to await burial at a later time.

Previously Iraqi puppet officials had confirmed that armed men had stormed a Sunni area in the town, which is inhabited by Arab Sunnis and Shi‘ah as well as Turkomans, and killed nearly 50 people in an apparent act of sectarian revenge for explosions that took place in the city on the day before that left 55 people dead and 120 others injured.

In a dispatch posted at 3:36pm Makkah time Wednesday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces arrested 18 puppet policemen for involvement in the massacre the death toll from which by then stood at 60 and included women and children, some of them less that two-years of age.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Dr. Salih al-Qadw, the director of Tall ‘Afar General Hospital as saying that his hospital today received 60 bodies of Sunni civilians shot to death by the puppet police. Dr. al-Qadw said that among the victims, all shot late on Tuesday night, were children under two who had been shot in the head and chest.

Dr al-Qadw said that in addition to arresting the 18 puppet policemen, the Americans were investigating the Shi‘i sectarian gunmen who also took part in the mass murder. More than half of those killed in the massacre were reportedly women, children, and elderly persons.

Sources in the puppet police said that the Americans withdrew their permission to the puppet police to operate in Tall ‘Afar and imposed martial law and a curfew on the city.

The sources said that the puppet police did not carry out the killings as a planned police operation, but rather members of the Shi‘i sectarian militias who concurrently are puppet police members conducted the murders.

One witness said that the sectarians came knocking on doors late on Tuesday night and ordered the residents of houses out into the street. There they shot children in front of their parents and then killed the mothers and fathers.

The arrests of puppet policemen were intended to reduce sharply aggravated tensions in the area following the sectarian killings. Sunni areas throughout the country have been subjected to recurrent murders by Shi‘i sectarian militias and puppet security services affiliated with the puppet regime authorities. At the same time, the puppet regime pleads that the American occupation forces must remain in Iraq lest sectarian violence escalate.

Then in a dispatch posted at pm Baghdad time Wednesday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that a spokesman for the puppet army’s 3rd Division in Tall ‘Afar announced that the toll of deaths in the massacres in Tall ‘Afar had risen to 70 dead and 30 more wounded. He added that another 40 people were abducted and nothing is known of their fate.

AMSI reported the spokesman as saying that a number of families of abduction victims failed to find their relatives among the dead in the hospital. He said that they were kidnapped Tuesday night by Shi‘i sectarian militias supported by puppet police.

The British spokesman said that the sharpshooter tried to shoot another British soldier but the British troops were able to hone in on his location and shoot him. After that they left the area.

The British spokesman also reported that two British bases came under Katyusha rocket attack at dawn on Wednesday. The British headquarters in the presidential palaces to the south of al-Basrah and those at al-Basrah International Airport to the west of the city were targeted by Katyusha rockets.

In a dispatch posted at 3:09pm Baghdad time Wednesday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that fighters attacked a British patrol north of al-Basrah at dawn on Wednesday.

AMSI reported a British military spokesman as saying that the attack took place in the an-Najibiyah area. She said that British troops responded by returning fire, and added that a number of civilian cars parked in the area were damaged.
