Al-Anbar Province.
Ar-Ramadi.

Resistance car bomb explodes by US column in ar-Ramadi Friday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 5:47pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a short while earlier, an Iraqi Resistance car bomb had exploded by a US military column near the former Immigration Building − now a US headquarters − in the middle of ar-Ramadi, about 110km west of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported sources in the city as saying that an explosives-laden car that had been parked by the side of the road was detonated by remote control as a US column drove past it.

The explosion set one of the American vehicles to burst into flame, but no information on the nature or extent of casualties was available. At the time of reporting, US and puppet Iraq forces had completely surrounded the area and American helicopter gun ships had flown in to prowl the skies above.

US forces in al-Anbar order 3,000 more concrete barriers for bases as Resistance attacks mount.

In a dispatch posted at 4:32pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces in Iraq requested 3,000 more concrete barriers to install as protection for their headquarters and those of the puppet Iraqi army in ar-Ramadi, al-Fallujah, and Hit in the province of al-Anbar, following increased Resistance attacks in recent days.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Colonel Ahmad ad-Dulaymi of the al-Anbar puppet police as saying that the Americans intend to deploy the barriers around their bases − already surrounded by such barriers − and also around the headquarters facilities of the puppet Iraqi army and buildings housing the provincial governments, government banks, and puppet police stations.

Colonel ad-Dulaymi said that 3,000 cement barriers − each one two meters long and four meters thick − are designed to cushion the facilities from powerful car bomb attacks and Resistance assaults using rockets and machine guns.

Puppet police sources in the southern Baghdad district of ar-Rustamiyah said on Thursday that a massive fire swept through the US base in their area after it was targeted by two mortar shells and one rocket.

Al-Fallujah.

Three US troops reported killed in car bombing west of al-Fallujah Friday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 4:05pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance car bomb exploded by a US military column west of al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad, at about 7am local time Friday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a spokesman for the Iraqi puppet police in the area of al-Fallahat as saying that the blast disabled a US Humvee and killed its crew. The spokesman said that the other Americans in the column managed with difficulty to extract three bodies of their comrades from the flaming Humvee.

First Lieutenant Yasir Hammad of the puppet police in al-Fallahat said that the car bomb was a white vehicle that was parked by the side of a road. A flat tire was positioned next to the vehicle so as not to arouse the suspicion of the Americans as they drove past.

The correspondent reported that the road that leads west from al-Fallujah had just been reopened last week after being closed for a full year.

Al-Fallujah under third straight day of total lockdown. Americans take advantage of curfew to hold “elections” for new city governor.

In a dispatch posted at 6:11pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that a curfew remained in effect in al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad for the third straight day after the violent Resistance attack that targeted the US base in the middle of the city on Wednesday, 28 March.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported the puppet police as confirming that the curfew was in force in all neighborhoods of the city. Not only are cars and trucks banned from the streets, but no one is allowed out of his house either and the Americans have also shut off all electricity to the city. Communications with many parts of al-Fallujah area also down.

The Americans took advantage of their curfew to hold elections for a new puppet governor to replace the man who recently resigned. The sources said that Sa‘d al-‘Ubaydi was elected unanimously by members of the puppet city council who were all ferried in US military vehicles from their homes to the Municipality building for the poll.

Despite the total lockdown of the city, the Resistance was still able to fire several mortar rounds at US and puppet regime positions in the city, witnesses said.

In a dispatch posted at 8:15pm Baghdad time Friday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported a puppet security official with the puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry” announced that a pre-dawn American air strike on the Baghdad district of Madinat ath-Thawrah (nicknamed “Madinat as-Sadr” since the American occupation in 2003) Friday morning killed at least 16 people and wounded 14 more.

The puppet official said that the attack took place at 2am local time and that most of the victims of the American attack were the guards who control access to the Madinat ath-Thawrah/”Madinat as-Sadr” area − a stronghold of pro-Iranian Shi‘i sectarian cleric Muqtada as-Sadr’s Jaysh al-Mahdi militia.

US authorities responded to the announcement by the puppet Iraqi official by saying that they were looking into the truth of the matter.

The puppet spokesman said that the afflicted puppet policemen had been sent to three different hospitals in Baghdad for treatment.

After that, the Americans had the masked men point out certain individuals among the congregation who were then arrested. The witnesses said that the Americans would just arrest anyone at whom the masked men pointed.

The witnesses said that the Americans helped the masked men confiscate what they called a “cache of weapons” buried near the mosque and they also commandeered houses around the mosque and turned them into outposts with snipers posted on their roofs. The entire area was placed under curfew and the arrested individuals − who numbered between 50 and 60 people − were then taken off to an unknown destination, witnesses said.

The correspondent noted that the US military had previously demolished the 700-year-old minaret of the al-Malwiyah mosque, which was erected by the Abbasi Caliph al-Mustansir Bi-llah, who reigned from 1226-1242.
