Al-Anbar Province.
Al-Qa’im.

Puppet governor of al-Qa’im survives assassination attempt.

In a dispatch posted at 5:55pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance land mine exploded under the motorcade of the puppet governor of the city of al-Qa’im in western Iraq near the border with Syria.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported sources in the al-Qa’im puppet police a as saying that Farhan al-Futaykhan, the puppet governor of the city survived the blast unscathed, but that two of his bodyguards were killed. Afterwards, US forces together with their puppet Iraqi allies surrounded the area where the bomb exploded.

Ar-Ramadi.

Puppet policeman killed in ar-Ramadi.

In a dispatch posted at 12:09pm Makkah time midday Sunday, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance fighter shot and killed a captain in the puppet “al-Anbar Salvation Council” police in ar-Ramadi, 110km west of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents of 17 Street in the city as saying that a patrol of the puppet “Salvation Council” police was halted in the middle of the street when a captain in the group was gunned down by an armed fighter. He died on the scene. The witnesses said that the survivors in the patrol responded by unleashing intense gunfire, more savagely than they usually do in such cases, training their guns at neighboring houses and at the buildings that surround the area where the attack occurred. Their shooting spree went on for more than 15 minutes.

Al-Fallujah.

Resistance ambushes puppet troops south of al-Fallujah Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 2:48pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that fierce fighting erupted between Resistance men and a puppet “Iraqi National Guard” patrol in southern al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad, at 9am local time Sunday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that Iraqi Resistance men ambushed a patrol, unleashing intense gunfire on the puppet troops in the area of al-Hasy, 3km south of al-Fallujah. The witnesses said that Resistance men blasted the puppet soldiers with mortars and light and medium machine guns, sparking a fierce battle between the two sides that went on for about 20 minutes.

An Iraqi Humvee was destroyed in the course of the combat and the troops aboard it were killed or wounded.

After the battle, the puppet troops surrounded the entire area and began raiding a number of nearby houses. No arrests were made.

Tortured body of former Iraqi Air Force officer found in al-Fallujah after capture by puppet police.

In a dispatch posted at 2:34pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that puppet security forces discovered the murdered and tortured body of a former high-ranking Iraqi Air Force officer in the city of al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad, after he had been arrested by the puppet police two days earlier.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local puppet police sources as saying that residents of the ar-Risalah neighborhood of western al-Fallujah notified them of the discovery of a body that had been dumped on the road there. The sources said that a puppet police patrol headed to ar-Risalah and found the body with gunshot wounds to the head and chest in addition to signs of torture.

The puppet security sources said that the body was identified as that of former Staff Colonel Ibrahim Ka‘itan az-Zawbi‘i, a high-ranking officer in the Iraqi Air command before the US invasion in the spring of 2003. One of the sources noted that the puppet police had arrested az-Zawbi‘i and his son Jamal two days earlier. Although the source did not disclose the reason for their arrest, he said that the two were taken to the directorate of the al-Fallujah puppet police and that Jamal was still presently imprisoned there.

Torture is the trademark of Shi‘i sectarian militias and the US-backed puppet security forces, most of whose members concurrently belong to the Shi ‘ sectarian militias. There have been numerous cases of former officers of the Iraqi armed forces, particularly those of the air force, being found murdered in the country in what is believed to be an Iranian-orchestrated campaign of vengeance against all Iraqi military officers who had a role in the Iran-Iraq War of 1980-1988.

Two puppet army soldiers killed in Resistance bombing in al-Karmah Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 2:48pm Baghdad time Sunday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a puppet army patrol in the al-Karmah area, 7km east of al-Fallujah on Sunday morning.

AMSI reported eyewitnesses as saying that a bomb that had been planted by the side of the road in the middle of town blew up by a passing puppet army patrol, destroying a Humvee, killing two puppet soldiers and wounding three more of them − two of those severely.

The witnesses added that the survivors responded to the attack by opening fire indiscriminately around the area, wounding civilians who had to be taken to hospital for treatment.

Resistance ambush kills four puppet Iraqi troops south of al-Fallujah Sunday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 12:31pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces mounted a coordinated attack on a puppet Iraqi army column in al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad on Sunday morning.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported sources in al-Hasy, 3km south of al-Fallujah as saying that the attack targeted a column of several vehicles. Resistance men attacked firing medium weapons, RPG-7 rocket-propelled grenades and automatic weapons and machine guns. Four puppet soldiers were killed in the course of the battle that went on for 20 minutes. US forces rushed to the area to rescue the puppet troops but by the time they arrived the Resistance men had withdrawn. The Americans therefore closed the road to the area.

Demonstrators demand US re-open Industrial Zone of al-Falluah, locked down after deadly Resistance attack on puppet troop headquarters last week.

In a dispatch posted at 10:26am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that hundreds of residents of al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad, took to the streets to demand that the Americans reopen the Industrial Zone of their city − a part of the town that the US forces recently closed and sealed off.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported residents as saying that protestors marched through the Nuwab ad-Dubbat, al-Mu‘allimin, and ath-Tharthar Street areas and finally to the main US military headquarters in the as-Simak Base where they voiced their demand that the Industrial Zone − where dozens of families live and need access to the outside world to survive.

The Industrial Zone is home to hundreds of industrial shops whose work includes tinsmithing, automotive repair and painting, and workshops for maintenance of various specific car components. Last week US troops, accompanied by their puppet Iraqi allies, closed the Industrial Zone following a Resistance bomb attack on the as-Salam Hotel, a facility that the puppet Iraqi “National Guard” has fortified and turned into a headquarters for itself. At least 15 puppet troops were killed and 20 more wounded in that attack.

Resistance unleashes fierce bombardment on US base in as-Saqlawiyah Saturday.

In a dispatch posted at 10:25am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance forces fired a violent barrage of eleven 60mm mortar rounds into the US base in as-Saqlawiyah, 15km north of al-Fallujah, on Saturday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported puppet police witnesses as saying that the shells struck the main US forces headquarters near the Technical Institute in as-Saqlawiyah. The barrage − the most violent for some time − set off thunderous explosions inside the US-occupied facility and sent plumes of smoke rising into the sky.

The puppet police indicated that US forces closed off the area after the attack, in particular the road leading to the Technical Institute − for two hours.

Baghdad.

US admits deaths of six American troops Saturday, Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 1:10am Makkah time Monday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US military forces had issued a communique´ Sunday in which they admitted that six American troops had been killed in two Resistance bombings in southwestern Baghdad.

Reuters, as monitored by Mafkarat al-Islam, reported that two of the soldiers were killed on Saturday while four more of them were killed in a bomb attack on Sunday.

US forces find Iraqi rocket launchers from Saddam era still targeted on “Israel.”

In a dispatch posted at 6:15pm Makkah time Sunday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US army had discovered four long-range rocket launchers at an installation formerly occupied by the Iraqi army. The rocket launchers were still targeted on “Israel” as they had been when set up under the leadership of Iraqi President Saddam Husayn.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet army captain as saying that the launchers were believed located about 17km from the Iraqi border with Jordan. It was the same Wadi al-Jawri area from which Iraq fired rockets at Tel Aviv during the First Gulf War in 1991. Such launchers were deployed all along the borders with Jordan and Syria during the 1990s.

The source said that the launchers were in very bad condition and were located in cement bunkers. He added that the Americans dismantled the launchers and took them away to one of their bases.

US captures two local Jaysh al-Mahdi commanders in sweep of “Madinat as-Sadr” Saturday night.

In a dispatch posted at 11:50am Makkah time Sunday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US forces stormed into the Madinat ath-Thawrah section of Baghdad (an area dubbed “Madinat as-Sadr” after the US occupation) on Saturday night and captured two local leaders of the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as saying that the Americans were met with intense gunfire by the pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi gunmen, forcing them to call in air support.

Sunni personalities in Iraq have criticized American moves against the Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi, saying that the US forces carry out their sweeps purely for publicity purposes, never actually capturing Jaysh al-Mahdi commanders with real importance or influence, and then frequently releasing the people thy do capture within a day or two. All of that is in stark contrast to bloody American offensives against largely Sunni Iraqi Resistance forces and the population that supports them.

The Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, run by Muqtada as-Sadr, a Shi‘i cleric loyal to Iran’s “conservatives,” is seeking to extend its regional hegemony and step into the shoes of the American occupation in Iraq as it leaves under the blows of the Iraqi Resistance. The US, on the other hand, which has made use of Shi‘i sectarian militias such as the Badr Brigades − close to Iran’s pro-western “liberals” − and the Jaysh al-Mahdi in its drive to occupy and control Iraq is now attempting to reduce Iranian influence in the country.

US forces take Baghdad woman hostage to force husband to surrender.

In a dispatch posted at 12:44 GMT Sunday, Quds Press reported that US forces took an Iraqi woman hostage on Saturday in an effort to pressure her husband to surrender to American forces.

Eyewitnesses in the ‘Arab Jabbur area of southern Baghdad told Quds Press that US soldiers raided the home of the muezzin of the ar-Rayyan Mosque in the area. They asked about him and when they found that he was not at home, they arrested his wife, Samiah Haydar Jasim al-Jabburi and took her away to one of their nearby bases.

Neighbors of the abducted woman said that the Americans said that the woman’s husband needed to surrender himself if he wanted his wife to be released.

Taking wives, mothers, and daughters of “wanted men” hostage is a standard US practice in its occupation in Iraq.

Quds Press noted that for two days, ‘Arab Jabbur had been under blockade by US forces who have allowed no one in or out of the district.

Salah ad-Din Province.
Ad-Dulu‘iyah.

Resistance bomb targets puppet police patrol in ad-Dulu‘iyah Sunday morning.

The source said that al-Jabburi and the other injured persons were taken to hospitals belonging to the US occupation forces in the city for treatment.

The arrest was made by troops who staged an airborne landing to make the capture. US helicopters landed the puppet troops of the Scorpion Brigade in the area and they captured nine local people, claiming that they were suspected of belonging to at-Tawhid wa-al-Jihad.

Ninwa Province.
Al-Mawsil.

In stunning offensive, Iraqi Resistance seizes control of major parts of al-Mawsil Sunday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 5:49 GMT Sunday, Quds Press reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters had seized control of major parts of Iraq’s third-largest city, al-Mawsil, on Sunday afternoon.

The correspondent for Quds Press reported that the Resistance launched an offensive in the city beginning with the detonation of three explosives-packed vehicles. Two truck bombs targeted the headquarters of the 3rd Regiment of the puppet Iraqi army and then violent fighting erupted between Resistance men and puppet troops.

A source in the city reported that one truck bomb blew up by the 3rd Regiment headquarters in the Industrial Zone of the city. That blast was followed by the explosion of a second explosives-packed truck by the same target. The explosions inflicted a number of dead and wounded and it was believed that the second truck bomb had also been packed with toxic chlorine gas.

A third truck bomb went off near the headquarters of the pro-American Kurdish separatist Kurdistan Democratic Party led by Mas‘ud Barzani, who is currently the US-installed puppet “president” of the northern Iraqi “Kurdish” enclave under American protection.

No information on the nature or extent of casualties in those blasts was available, due to the tight security being imposed by US and puppet forces.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi Resistance attacked numerous puppet army patrols and checkpoints in the city. Witnesses said that violent battles broke out after the bombings in the neighborhoods of an-Nur, al-Qadisiyah, and at-Ta’mim located in eastern al-Mawsil. The Resistance seized control of the Abu Tammam exchage and numerous neighborhoods in the city as US helicopters were observed prowling the skies over the city at low altitudes.
