Baghdad.

Iraqi Resistance bomber attacks puppet “Iraqi Parliament” inside top-security “Green Zone,” killing puppet politicians just after midday Thursday.

In a dispatch posted at 3:33pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that early on Thursday afternoon a bomb exploded inside the puppet “Assembly of Deputies” building in the top security area around the Republican Palace in Baghdad dubbed the “Green Zone” by the Americans.

Reports by the American Associated Press (AP) later listed at least eight people as having been killed in the attack, three of them members of the US-installed puppet “Assembly” or “Parliament.” The AP cautioned, however, that no final casualty figures had been released by the Iraqi puppet regime that was still trying to piece together varying accounts of the attack and assess the damage.

The AP reported that a news video camera captured the moment of the blast, about 2:30pm local time, when a flash and an orange ball of fire caused the notorious Iranian-born Shi‘i sectarian cleric Jalal ad-Din as-Saghir to duck. As-Saghir, notorious as the Imam of the Shi‘i murder and torture center in the Buratha Mosque, was being interviewed at the time of the attack. The AP reported that smoke and dust billowed through the area, and confused and frightened puppet politicians and others could be heard screaming for help and trying to find colleagues.

In a dispatch posted at 10pm Baghdad time Thursday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported eyewitnesses as saying that at least three members of the puppet “Parliament” were killed in the bombing. The witnesses said that at least 20 more people in the building were wounded, including five puppet “Parliament” members and four employees of the assembly.

In its dispatch, posted at 6:59pm GMT, Quds Press reported a source in the puppet “Parliament” building as saying that the attack occurred just after the end of a regular session of the assembly and that dozens of members of the US-installed “Parliament” were gathered in the cafeteria for lunch.
Quds Press reported that one of the dead was Muhammad ‘Awad, a member of the Sunni collaborationist National Dialogue Front and another was Taha al-Lahibi, a member of the Sunni collaborationist “Iraqi Accord Front.” The third dead member of the puppet “Parliament” was not identified.

AMSI reported that among the wounded were Zafir al-‘Ani and Salman al-Jumayli, members of the collaborationist Sunni party known as the “Iraqi Accord Front.”

The AP reported that the TV crew that was on the scene and happened to capture the explosion on their tape were from the US-based al-Hurrah Arabic language propaganda station, whose signals are beamed into occupied Iraq.

The AP reported that two collaborationist Sunni politicians, involved in efforts to try to neutralize the Resistance, were killed in the attack, which took place in the cafeteria in the puppet “Parliament” building.

Quds Press reported that ambulances rushed the dead and wounded to Ibn Sina Hospital, an institution also within the American-run “Green Zone.” Iraqi puppet security forces set up a security cordon around the puppet parliament building inside the “Green Zone” and all news media were banned from the area.

Eleven bodies found in Baghdad Thursday, more victims of Shi‘i sectarian torture, murder.

In a dispatch posted at 11:55pm Baghdad time Thursday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the Iraqi puppet police discovered 11 bodies of murdered victims dumped in various parts of Baghdad on Thursday.

AMSI reported a puppet police source as saying that most of the bodies had been bound and blindfolded and signs of torture were clearly visible on them. Torture is a trademark of the Shi‘i sectarian militias and the US-backed puppet security and military services of the puppet regime.

The victims were killed by gunshots to various parts of their bodies, the source said, adding that the bodies were all taken to the Forensic Medicine Morgue.

Drug use, trafficking soar following US occupation; 24,000 Iraqis officially reported having used drugs, real number said far higher.

In a dispatch posted at 3:25pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the Reform Society for combating Drugs in Iraq announced that the number of drug users in the country is on the increase, as a result of the war and the chaotic security situation that has turned Iraq into a drug market. Some of the narcotics are consumed within the country; some pass through on their way to other markets.

AMSI reported that the announcement came during a conference of the organization held in the Engineers Union hall on Thursday. Hundreds of school principals and educators from the Baghdad districts of al-Karakh and ar-Rusafah attended the conference, which was held under the slogan, “The First Training Session spreading Consciousness of the Harm Caused by Drug Use.

Professors gave lectures on the types of drugs and methods of consuming them, and on alternative ways to take drugs. Discussions touched on important and necessary methods for fighting this phenomenon among secondary schools. The increasing danger arising from drug use among Iraqi youth was also discussed. According to statistics released by the puppet “Health Ministry,” more than 24 thousand Iraqis have taken drugs, but that was as of 2005; the statistics for 2006 have not yet been published.

One specialist at the meeting noted that those figures on the number of drug users were actually the numbers of people who have come to the health departments because of the sharp deterioration of their health. The number of people who have never gone to the medical agencies is probably greater.

The President of the Society also delivered a report on measures the organization has taken recently to combat drug use, noting that it is continuing to pursue its effort to raise consciousness about the dangers posed by drug use.

The society holds meetings and conferences and distributes medical literature and alerts concerning drug use. It also distributes poster that go up on walls and at scientific expositions.

AMSI reported a puppet police source as saying that the blast destroyed a part of the bridge, sending five or six cars plunging into the river. The source said that five people were killed and 11 more wounded in the incident, but cautioned that the casualty numbers could rise. The as-Sarrafiyah bridge linked east and west Baghdad.

Later, in a dispatch posted at 11:40am GMT, Quds Press reported the Chairman of the Iraqi Puppet “Parliament” as casting doubt on the official explanation for the destruction of the bridge.

Quds Press reported Mahmud al-Mashhadani as saying that although the media reported that a truck bomb was responsible for destroying the bridge, the bridge had in fact been blown into three pieces. Al-Mashhadani further said that “there is information that has reached us that the [puppet] security agencies set up check points and prevented people from crossing the bridge starting at 6am this [Thursday] morning.
