Child Survival Rate In Iraq Plummets

The chance that an Iraqi child will live beyond age 5 has plummeted
faster than anywhere else in the world since 1990,
according to a report released Tuesday that placed the country last
in its child survival rankings.
火曜日に発表された報告によれば、子供生存率ランクで
イラクの子供達が五歳を越えて生き残る可能性は最低であり、
1990年以来、世界で最も急速に下がりました。
One in eight Iraqi children died of disease or violence before reaching
their fifth birthday in 2005, according to the report
by Save the Children, which said Iraq ranked last because
it had made the least progress toward improving child survival rates.
セイブ・ザ・チルドレンによる報告によれば、2005年に
八人に一人のイラクの子供達が、病気や暴力で五歳になる前に亡くなっています。
子供生存率に向けた改善で殆ど進展していない為、
イラクは最低にランクされました。

ムスタファ君は生きる為に、路上で見知らぬ人に物を売っています。
次世代が武装勢力やテロリストになるのではないかと心配しています。
「どんなイラク人にも未来はありません。孤児には尚更です」
ファティマちゃんの将来はどうなるのでしょうか。
今はただ生き残ることだけです。

by a staggering 150 percent since 1990.
Some 122,000 Iraqi children died in 2005

More than half of these deaths were among newborn babies
