Al-Anbar Province.
Al-Fallujah.

Resistance blasts US base in as-Saqlawiyah with mortars Friday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 11:24am Baghdad time Saturday morning, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the Iraqi Resistance blasted the US base in as-Saqlawiyah, 17km north of al-Fallujah, with mortars at 4:30pm, local time, Friday afternoon.

The AMSI reported residents of al-Fallujah, which is located 60km west of Baghdad, as saying that four explosions shook the American base when the mortar rounds struck the US-occupied facility, which is located near the Technical Institute in as-Saqlawiyah. After the explosions, smoke could be seen billowing up from the base.

The witnesses said that following the attack, US troops deployed outside around the base.

Baghdad.

Resistance blasts “Green Zone” with mortars Saturday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 6:40pm Baghdad time Saturday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the Iraqi Resistance blasted the top-security area around the Republican Palace in downtown Baghdad that the Americans have dubbed the “Green Zone” on Saturday afternoon.

The AMSI reported eyewitnesses as saying that at least three mortar shells blasted into the “Green Zone” Saturday afternoon. No information on the nature or extent of damage caused by the barrage was available because the US occupation as usual conceals such information from the public.

US announces discovery of “dog tags” of two US soldiers captured by Iraqi Resistance in May.

In a dispatch posted at 6:20pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US occupation forces found the “dog tags” (identity tags) of two US soldiers who had earlier been listed as “missing” when they were captured in May by the Iraqi Resistance in the area of al-Mahmudiyah, about 40km south of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the US military had issued a communique´ in which it said that the two identity tags were found in a raid on a house in Samarra’ on 9 June.

Shi‘i sectarian torture, murder spree continues: 30 more bodies recovered in Baghdad on Friday.

In a dispatch posted on its website Saturday, Quds Press reported that the Iraqi puppet police recovered 30 bodies of individuals who had been tortured and murdered and their bodies dumped in various parts of Baghdad. Torture is a trademark of the Shi‘i sectarian militias and the US-run puppet regime’s security forces, most of whose members are drawn from the Shi‘i sectarian militias.

Quds Press quoted sources in the puppet police as saying that all the bodies were bound and blindfolded and bore signs of torture. Some of the bodies had also been mutilated after death. Others were disfigured by having acid poured on them. The bodies lacked any form of identification and were taken to the Baghdad morgue for identification.

With this latest discovery the number of unidentified bodies found around Baghdad since the start of the month of June stands at 290. The number for the entire month of May was about 750 Quds Press reported.

Shi‘i sectarian militias and the puppet regime security forces have been kidnapping, torturing, and murdering Sunni Iraqis throughout much of the country in an effort to “cleanse” those areas of Sunnis and pave the way for the sectarian partition of Iraq in keeping with plans thought up by Zionist and American political strategists.

The idea of “the dissolution of Iraq into a Shi‘ite state, a Sunni state and the separation of the Kurdish part” was voiced by veteran Zionist military correspondent Ze’ev Schiff in Ha'aretz on 2 June 1982 and was a part of the divide-and-rule strategy laid out by Zionist writer Oded Yinon in his “Strategy for Israel in the 1980s,” published in Kivunim (Directions), A Journal for Judaism and Zionism, published by the World Zionist Organization in occupied Jerusalem in February 1982. (It was translated by the late anti-Zionist writer and activist Israel Shahak and is widely available.)

The idea of splitting the Shi‘ah in Iraq from the rest of the country was a cornerstone of the neo-Conservative strategy laid out in “A Clean Break” a paper drawn up by American Zionist government officials Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, David Wurmser, and Paul Wolfowitz in 1996 for the then Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Then in 2000 the neo-Conservative Project for a New American Century wrote Rebuilding America’s Defenses on the basis of the “Clean Break.”

The American version of the strategy for a partition of Iraq appeared in the article “The Three-State Solution” published in The New York Times on 25 November 2003 by Leslie Gelb (President Emeritus of the US Council on Foreign Relations). The same idea was reiterated, this time with “bi-partisan support” in the article by Gelb and US Democratic Senator Joseph Biden in “Unity through Autonomy in Iraq,” in The New York Times on 1 May 2006.

Then on 8 October 2006 the London Sunday Times reported that the partition of Iraq along religious and ethnic lines was one of the suggestions that the Baker-Hamilton commission was advancing.

Salah ad-Din Province.
Balad.

Resistance organization reports shooting down US F-16 near Balad Thursday evening.

In a dispatch posted at 5:30pm Makkah time Saturday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Iraqi Resistance organization the Islamic Army of Iraq had announced its responsibility for shooting down a US F-16 warplane in the Bishikan area to the north of Baghdad on Thursday. The US had admitted that the fighter-bomber had crashed but failed to acknowledge that it had been shot down.

Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Islamic Army posted a communique´ on a website in which it stated that at 9pm local time Thursday evening, its anti-aircraft fighters had shot down a US F-16 airplane.

The Resistance statement said that the airplane was totally destroyed in the attack and that all aboard had been killed.

Diyala Province.
Al-Mada’in.

Puppet “Shock Troops,” US forces launch raids, arrests in al-Mada’in Saturday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 12:30pm Baghdad time midday Saturday, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that puppet “Iraqi Interior Ministry Shock Troops (Maghawir)” backed up by US occupation forces launched a campaign of raids and arrests in the al-Mada’in area, 25km southeast of Baghdad on Saturday morning.

The AMSI correspondent reported that the puppet “Shock Troops” of the so-called “Lion Brigade” carried out the campaign in the Bawi district of the al-Mada’in area with the support of US occupation units. The correspondent indicated that the raids and roundups of local residents were still underway at the time of reporting.

Dhi Qar Province.
An-Nasiriyah.

Pro-Iranian Jaysh al-Mahdi stages three-hour military parade in an-Nasiriyah Friday night despite puppet regime claims to have banned such displays of arms by private militias.

In a dispatch posted at 2:37pm Baghdad time Saturday afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that in a graphic example of how the US and pro-Iranian gunmen are working together in occupied Iraq, the Iranian-backed Shi‘i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi staged a three-hour long military march in the city of an-Nasiriyah, 375km south of Baghdad, on Friday, despite the fact that the US-installed puppet regime in Baghdad had banned marches by militias.

The AMSI reported that hundreds of Jaysh al-Mahdi sectarian gunmen marched in a parade on the anniversary of the founding of the militia in the city. The march began at 7pm local time and continued for three hours after that. A source in the puppet security forces in an-Nasiriyah said that the march went ahead in spite of an official ban on displays of weapons by private armed forces because “the local authorities in the province were not able to reach an agreement on banning the armed demonstration” by the Jaysh al-Mahdi, members of which also form the backbone of the puppet government security forces recruited and armed by the US.

An-Najaf Province.
An-Najaf.

Iranian-backed fundamentalist cleric Muqtada as-Sadr calls for Shi‘i march on Samarra’ in July, a plan that threatens to take sectarian violence to new high.

In a dispatch posted at 9:20pm Makkah time Saturday night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the prospect of heightened Shi‘i sectarian violence increased on Saturday when Iranian-backed Shi‘i sectarian cleric Muqtada as-Sadr called on Shi‘ah to carry out a mass march on the predominantly Sunni city of Samarra’ on 5 July.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported the sectarian Shi‘i fundamentalist cleric as proclaiming that Shi‘i blood and holy places must not be “squandered” − a reference to the suspicious bombing of the Shi‘i Shrine of the Two Imams in Samarra’ that took place on Wednesday, 13 June. It is widely believed that the US-installed Shi‘i sectarian regime of Nuri al-Maliki is behind the bombing of the shrine, in an effort to spark sectarian fighting and facilitate the partition of Iraq.
